Heck Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Why would Squadron level decals appear only at random in a modded campaign? The Squadron list is correct; the decals appear in single missions if I choose them, so everything as far as squadronlist and numbering of decals seems in order. When I fly a campaign, squadron level decals of course appear on my unit's aircraft, and sometimes appear on friendly AI aircraft (not always, it's random), but never on enemy AI aircraft. I'm not familiar with campaigns, and I couldn't find anything about this doing Google searches, or in the Knowledge Base here, so I have to ask: is this a game thing, or do I have to hunt down some sort of glitch in my files? Heck Posted July 24, 2017 Author Posted July 24, 2017 Figured one thing out by flying missions in the campaign. All the AI aircraft that have markings are other player flyable squadrons on the same side as the player. So, apparently the game is marking AI aircraft on the players side if they're in the player flyable list in the main ini, but not if the AI is opposing forces. And it doesn't generate squadron markings for any aircraft not on the player flyable list. Interesting. Quote

Heck Posted July 25, 2017 Author Posted July 25, 2017 If a mission in the campaign is being flown by a friendly squadron which is in the player flyable list, that squadron will have squadron markings on them. If a mission is assigned to a friendly squadron that is not on the player flyable list, then it will not have squadron markings on them. No enemy squadrons have squadron markings on them, whether they are on the player flyable list, or not. I hope this is a little clearer than my last post. Sorry. Quote
+Menrva Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 (edited) Really? How come I didn't notice this earlier? It's been a while since I last played a campaign. Seems a bug to me, maybe introduced with the latest patches. Edited July 25, 2017 by Menrva Quote

Refuse to go any further in patches than that, so it's definitely in July 2012. It's not a game killer for me; usually I'm too busy shooting to notice. Still the best sim out there for people who like to tinker with their sims, like me. I have fun, despite the glitches. I can always make all fighter aircraft squadrons flyable, and leave the bomber units alone. It involves some work, but it might trick the sim into putting them on the fighters. I'll play around with it, when I have time, and see if it works. Thanks, everyone, for your responses. Quote
+Menrva Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 (edited) Oh, pardon me, Heck, actually I still need to check. I am on the very last patch. It could have been fixed in the later patches, who knows? Much has changed since the 2012 level patches. I'd like to hear from others as well. Are you running a modded install or simply stock? Edited July 25, 2017 by Menrva Quote

I'll take a look in my un-modded installs to see if it happens there, but I'm not too familiar with the more modern squadron markings, so I'll have to extract them so I can see what they are. Quote
