Guest Posted December 18, 2021 Posted December 18, 2021 Hi, After updating to October 2008 patch, the game hangs and then crashes at 60% while loading an instant or single mission. Quote
+Muesli Posted December 18, 2021 Posted December 18, 2021 There's more than one question to be asked to you before one can even proceed to answer, me thinks: -What is your OS? -Is the install an vanilla or a modded one? -Have you tried doing a new fresh install of the game? -Is the game on disc or a Thirdwire site download? And I am afraid there's not much more to be done, now... Good luck! Quote
Guest Posted December 18, 2021 Posted December 18, 2021 I'm using Wine on Ubuntu. The installation is vanilla installed from the game on disc's iso. I have tried a new fresh installation of game every time and on installing the update the game hangs. Quote
+Gepard Posted December 18, 2021 Posted December 18, 2021 Perhaps SFP1 does not like Ubuntu. It was written for Windows XP. Do you have tried to choose an other plane or an other terrain? Sometimes mods can cause such a problem as you descripe. Quote
Guest Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 (edited) SFP1 is running fine. It is 2008 update that is causing the problem. No, other planes are also causing the same problem. As far as I know, there is only desert terrain. I want to fly Mig-21. Knowledge base says that one can fly it in multi-player. But multi-player hangs and crashes with reduced resolution (big icons). I have to change resolution from system settings back to 1360x768. Edited December 19, 2021 by Guest Quote
+Gepard Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 Multi-player was always a problem. Thatswhy it does not exist anymore in SF2 world. Try to fly only single missions with a stock plane. Lets say F-4 Phantom. If this works you can download a flyable MiG-21 from this site. There a lots of them available. You dont need Multi-player. Quote
Guest Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 SFP1 update October 2008 is needed in order to install Mig-21. And it is causing the problem of hanging at 60%. Quote
+Gepard Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 You can fly a MiG-21 in every version of SFP1, You dont need Oct2008 patch. Quote
Guest Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 SFP1 doesn't contain MiG sound files in the sound directory. 2008 Update contains though. I installed Mig-21 https://combatace.com/files/file/7596-mig-21-complete-pack-13-for-sf1-line/ in updated SFP1 and it got hanged and crashed at 60%. Though in original SFP1, installing the same Mig-21 got loaded to 100% and then got hanged on a black screen. I had to restart the computer. Quote
+Gepard Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 If you want to fly a MiG-21 there is a quick and dirty solution Open the file MiG-21MF.ini with Notepadeditor The lines should be: [AircraftData] AircraftFullName=MiG-21MF "Fishbed-J" AircraftDataFile=MiG-21MF_data.ini LoadoutFile=MiG-21MF_loadout.ini Then add the line CockpitDataFile=F-4E_cockpit.ini save the file Now you can fly the MiG with a F-4E cockpit Quote
Guest Posted December 20, 2021 Posted December 20, 2021 I liked MiG-21 external views but want cockpit of the same aircraft. No Radar in F-4E's. Plus the game engine of SFP1 is not that good as seen in il2 Sturmovik 1946. I flew Mig-9 (I-300) and its default engine and graphics are ... you will know when you play. Quote
