Questions for the Experts
Erik replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Taz; I've moved this topic to a new thread in hopes someone may have the answers for you. In the meantime you may want to consult the knowledge base to see if you can find something there on the subject. If you have any futher concerns please feel free to contact me via PM. Instant notification is not working for me
Erik replied to Master Chief's topic in Site Support / Bug Reports / Suggestions
There's no difference to the board software between fast reply and regular reply other than all the fancy stuff isn't shown but it uses the same source file so probability that it's software related is minimal. I don't have that problem as I can reply or fast reply and get the notifications just the same. I'll take a look and see if I can duplicate it just to be safe. E -
I'd have baked a cake but I can't cook worth nothing. I once tried instant oatmeal and burned it. I thought the water listed in the instructions was to put out the fire. Who woulda' knew? Happy 50th! E and the CA Team

Instant notification is not working for me
Erik replied to Master Chief's topic in Site Support / Bug Reports / Suggestions
All our notification email comes from forums@combatace.com. You may want to whitelist list our domain and make sure the email we send can get through any spam or junk mail filters you may have setup either locally on your machine or through your ISP. I haven't seen any bounce reports for "unable to send" email in quite sometime now. Let me know if you continue to have problems after you've checked your settings and I'll have a more specific look into your account. Regards; Erik Thompson CombatACE.com -
Received this - test mass email to forum users - Legit?
Erik replied to Kestrel2004's topic in The Pub
The email came from us (CombatACE) or from multiviper? -
We're scheduled for a hardware upgrade sometime today. We're adding additional hard drives to our server. I can't imagine the downtime will be longer than 30 minutes or so and our site should come back online as soon as complete. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. CombatACE Team

Sorry for the short outage this morning. The linux kernel supporting this machine needed to be recompiled with additional support. That process took some time and the box was offline causing the site to be offline. All systems have returned to 100% operational status and we now have more storage capacity for our immediate and future needs. :) Take care everyone; Erik

... pushy? Naw ... that's what this thread is for. Good job spotting our mistake since we never make any. << laughs >> Take care; Erik

Try using a different browser to upload files. Download and install Firefox, that will probably sort out your problems. Internet Explorer has been known to have problems when certain security settings are turned on. I don't know what they are, but you can check to see if it's in Internet Explorer just by using a different browser like Firefox. Sorry about the problems you're having. Erik

Hi; Thanks for the report. I just didn't have time to look into this until tonight. I've fixed the problem. We accidentally moved the Member's Album Category into the Member Gallery Category and it inherited the permission set of the master category so it wasn't allowing albums. That's been fixed now so you can create new albums. Thanks again for report. Erik

Possibly a file I might have archived somewhere from all the moving or would have been on an offsite machine? Just a thought if it helps. :) -
Couple of noob WOV questions
Erik replied to PythonOne's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
"... CombatACE is by far the best." Now that's an impressive answer ... thank you Tank! -
Nothing special here ... my inlaws own a threatre ... someone has to make sure the movies didn't get damaged during shipping. Don't hate.

Best movie of the summer ... it was terrific!

It's invalid data ... file corruption.

It's a tough situation and I feel their pain. On one hand you want users to get the file as quickly as possible and without errors so they don't have to download multiple times. Most times end-user programs will allow resuming a transfer which is good for people who have slower or unstable connections. When designing a download system you have to think of all the scenarios in which it might be used. I personally want people in and out of our pipe as quickly as possible so it's my preference to feed them the file as fast as they can take it which frees up bandwidth and resources on the machine for others. We also have some capabilities in the download management system here that allow us greater control and flexibilities with files. Keeping everyone happy is a tough job. The best you can do sometimes is plan for the worst and pray for the best. I hope the community is as proud as I am at just how much we provide and the quality in which we provide it. I'm just glad the OFF community is back in business and congratulate the OFF team for their newest release.

If you learn to fly really fast backwards then you won't have to worry about people looking at your tail ... they'll be laughing at your skillz! Nice work though. -
Big ... but not impossible. :)
-
If the file is accessible somewhere on the web or via ftp I can move it here directly from the server with minimal problems. How big are the files we're talking about? As Fates mentioned we could possibly lend a hand ... just depends on what we're talking about and possibly what benefits CombatACE might gain from us dropping our wallets on the table. :) Let Fates know and we'll go from there.

Looks like you were able to find the delete feature which is available when viewing the image. You can also manage albums by bulk using the My Albums link above. Sorry to hear about the connection issue, sometimes the internet does these things.

When you signed up for the site the user agreement clearly stated that all Canadians furnish the beer for us in 2007, and it's Germany's turn in 2008. Why you guys got rid of the stubby bottles I'll never know ... I loved those and they were unique to Canada. Send Molson and all will be forgiven.
