Hi - Yes this is on my hit list too. The problem is that the category itself SF/WOV/WOE doesn't have any topics in it, so the search comes back blank. The category SF/WOV/WOE does have subcategories and those have topics so searching those gives results. You'd think that selecting a top level category like SF/WOV/WOE would do a recursive search in the subcategories but it doesn't. It's been filed as a bug with IPB, we'll see what comes of it. Erik

Possibly post it in our downloads section might be a solution. -
Firecage Plane Fest - Update Ver 1.4
Erik replied to Firecage's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Firecage ... I don't think you need to do anything. The file that's on our system is fine and you uploaded it so I'd say what you have is working. Zip compression is strange sometimes depending on the compression agent and the decompression agent it could cause these issues. You may consider using winrar and compressing to a rar format that seams to be more uniform. All in all I'd say what you're doing is fine and it may just be on the receivers end. Thanks for the contributions. :) -
Firecage Plane Fest - Update Ver 1.4

The file on our system is a valid compressed file, checks okay on my end after downloading. -
That plug in has settings for "include / exclude" gallery categories. We need to make sure that all the categories the plug in is pulling images from we also allow members to view or they'll get that message.

Login / password problems
Erik replied to LeadZeppelin's topic in Site Support / Bug Reports / Suggestions
Hi - The cookies stored on your machines are the problem. Remove the cookies set by our site from each machine. Make sure you close your browser and then re-open it. Once done you should be able to log in without any problems from both machines. This will allow our site to reset a new current cookie and will resolve your log in problems. Erik -
Nice job, and thanks for the report. I hardly broke a sweat fixing it.

Erik replied to hi ho silver's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Ah ... well if that was your post then I can understand why we may have deleted it. Is there a reason you can't start a new topic at combatace? -
wheres my new topic gone?
Erik replied to hi ho silver's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I don't see it either and I'm usually pretty good at the "where's waldo" game. I'd repost it and we'll call it a mystery. I'm sure you didn't make anyone mad with your post. Erik -
Okay, well then you must be hitting the hard limit for search requests per second. You are only allowed 1 search per 5 seconds. Is that the problem?
-
It's just the way you're searching. The letter minimum per word is three letters. So words like "an" "by" "to" and so on will cause this error. The reason why is because just imagine the amount of posts with two letter words and the search that would have to perform to get the results. The search option has been defined this way so that we don't have searches that have enormous returns. Try leaving those words out of your search and use only key words. Let me know if that helps. Login / password problems
Erik replied to LeadZeppelin's topic in Site Support / Bug Reports / Suggestions
I log in from a lot of locations also. Is it always the "other" location that has problems? If so, then you might consider checking the keyboard you're using. You can use a text editor or even the reply box below to check that your keyboard actually types what it's supposed to. Type your user name and password a couple times to make sure. Sometimes sticky keys or caps is the problem. To answer your question directly. No, there is no reason you shouldn't be able to log in from both places as long as you're using the exact same user name and password for both. PM me with your user name and password and I'll verify them later today. Erik -
HAHAHAHAHA ... just 1 question ... who did the skins?

Flanker in the House
Erik replied to NeverEnough's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Marcelo's site is one of our partner sites. We're lucky to have him aboard. His site can be found on our front page in the "partner site's" area in the top right hand corner. Just click the "MarcFighters" banner. http://combatace.com A direct link to MarcFighters is listed above as well, but knowing where to find the link might help in the future too. :) An amazing Flanker those guys should be extremely proud! -
If you are a modder, modder's group, software developer, website owner, hardware manufacturer, etc etc ... go ahead and link to your webpage it's a good way to build traffic count for your site ... if you link back to us (which would be greatly appreciated) it helps us build ours ... it's a win win situation. Link Page Directory Just to add to what Fates mentioned which is a terrific idea. :)

There was a discussion I remember seeing about installing DirectX9.0c on Vista for older games as Vista comes with DirectX10 and most older games aren't compatible with DX10. Might check the Microsoft site for more information on installing DX9 on Vista.
