  1. Such professional responses to an otherwise bar fight of a statement by the OP. I'm thinking this comes from just getting acquainted with things. Well done! You all get an extra cookie today. E
  2. Okay you're going to have make a safemode disk which will run your antivirus without the operating system being loaded. To do this you'll want to research how either through Kasperky's or AVG support. They'll teach you the process and get you everything you need. Of course your could always remove the drive and slave it to another machine and do the same thing by scanning that drive. There are also manual removal steps but I recommend trying the above first. The thing you've got is called JS/WORM, any search should give you more support. Erik http://free.avg.com/us-en/226386- How to http://www.avg.com/us-en/free-antivirus-protection- Free AVG antivirus, get it. Personally recommend this, never had a problem or cost me a cent. Has an upgrade nag to switch to the pro version (costs $$$) at first install and when it upgrades but it's nothing and it's not annoying. Good luck!
  3. That's the one, you did good. :)
  4. I don't know if you cleared your java cache or not, I mentioned it yesterday but this is where it's coming from not your browser cache. To clear it you have to go into the control panel > java console > clear browser cache ALSO Set your java cache size in the java console to 0kb or turn off caching. This will prevent java from storing on your machine at all which is beneficial for a lot of reasons especially if you like windows explorer. You don't need the cache (storing java on your machine) usually they are so small and with today's internet speeds downloading scripts each time you visit a page takes milliseconds. Save yourself the hassle and disable java caching.
  5. Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions. Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan. 6. It's not a complicated thing. It's a simple if statement in the code, if friends equals zero don't show the icon. This is working as intended.
  7. Yes I run a full mysql backup in the early morning hours which may relate to your afternoon. I'm sure there's times where tables are locked during that process but they shouldn't last long (your connection timeout issues). There's a solution to this and that's to fully replicate our databases but we're not facebook or youtube with access to unlimited equipment. You can of course make a donation of $4000 USD and I will be happy to fire up another machine for a year just for this purpose. I'll look to see if there's anything I can do about the server load but I sincerely doubt it since it's a system wide dump. The cron job runs at a time when we have the least traffic but maybe I can look at that as well. Don't hold your breath for a solution unless the cash is on the way, tho I'll look at it. Thanks and I apologize for the inconvenience.
  8. Yeah this is a javascript you've collected somewhere. Clear your browser cache and also clear your java cache. Control panel > java > find the flush cache option
  9. Sorry about the problems it's the nature of the internet when routers get congested or go down and load balancing takes place. We are 4 hops away from Amsterdam because the datacenter we're in has their own backbone direct to their DC in Amsterdam so things to you shouldn't be slow. From us to you I see no problems unlike your hop 6 from you to us, which says that's our potential bottleneck. Of course I can't trace all the way to your personal computer because of your network but 212.142.4.89 appears to be the head end of your ISP so that's close enough anyway. If you open your access to your overhead traffic I can test all the way through to your machine but here's what I can see. root@server2 [~]# traceroute 212.142.4.89 traceroute to 212.142.4.89 (212.142.4.89), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets 1 server2.combatace.com (216.104.36.209) 0.733 ms 0.806 ms 0.926 ms 2 agg1.c13.r13.s101.chi03.singlehop.net (67.212.190.89) 42.689 ms 20.345 ms 20.342 ms 3 cr1.c09c10.r15.s101.chi03.singlehop.net (67.212.190.233) 0.597 ms 0.659 ms 0.615 ms 4 128.177.133.69 (128.177.133.69) 0.408 ms 0.410 ms 128.177.133.73 (128.177.133.73) 0.396 ms 5 ae11.cr2.ord2.us.zip.zayo.com (64.125.22.130) 1.331 ms 1.278 ms ae14.cr1.ord2.us.zip.zayo.com (64.125.24.230) 1.368 ms 6 ae4.er1.ord7.us.zip.zayo.com (64.125.28.50) 1.267 ms ae14.er2.ord7.us.zip.zayo.com (64.125.31.70) 1.355 ms 1.395 ms 7 us-chi01a-ri1-ge-0-0-0.aorta.net (206.223.119.104) 1.317 ms 1.381 ms 1.363 ms 8 us-chi01a-ri1-ge-0-0-0.aorta.net (206.223.119.104) 1.317 ms 1.214 ms 1.457 ms 9 * 213-46-190-185.aorta.net (213.46.190.185) 111.990 ms us-was02a-rd2-xe-1-0-1-0.aorta.net (84.116.137.42) 109.808 ms 10 nl-ams05a-rc1-ae56-0.aorta.net (84.116.130.130) 110.567 ms 110.645 ms * 11 nl-ams05a-rc1-ae56-0.aorta.net (84.116.130.130) 109.666 ms nl-hrv01a-ra2-be-70-2364.aorta.net (84.116.244.58) 110.148 ms 111.230 ms 12 * nl-hrv01a-ra2-be-70-2364.aorta.net (84.116.244.58) 111.227 ms * 13 212.142.2.194 (212.142.2.194) 124.826 ms * * Our local connection shouldn't be an issue either root@server2 [~]# ./speedtest.py Retrieving speedtest.net configuration... That sounds like potentially you've got a router issue on your local network. You can confirm this by plugging into your broadband modem directly and bypassing your home network. You can also check your speeds to our datacenter in Amsterdam to determine if it's an ISP issue at 198.20.98.2. Let me know what you find and I'll open a network ticket if there's something concerning. Erik
  10. Yes. Only you can see your warning points.
  11. If disagreeable means troll then yes, but the rest of the information is correct. Disregard it, you're the only one who can see it. Meaning you only see your own warning status.
  12. Yes the background is set by us depending on the skin you're using. If you don't want an image with a background you'll have to make one with a transparent background then it will look right on all colored backgrounds.
  13. While we host the site we don't maintain it. In fact most of the files are here anyway. As to why it's not working, the site uses java script which is either outdated or not allowed to run on your computer. The changes in supporting and running java in many browsers has changed dramatically lately. For more support on that you'd have to read the support topics for supporting java on your particular browser and machine.
  14. You can have my Soviet Font maybe it will be what you need or close enough. soviet.7z
  15. My reply above was and is completely tongue and cheek in response to your post preceding it. I disagree with your doom and gloom position by saying since there's little support for your idea that CA is going to close it's doors. It's no surprise to any of us that TK decided to move on to other ventures. We have done our part by keeping the SIM active but we also recognize that the platform will eventually be entirely dead when it's code base no longer runs on new machines, etc. We've hoped that there would be another SIM that comes along that has drawn as much interest as the SF series. That aside it is not who we are as a community and I'm very grateful that a lot of people distinguish the two separately. Subscriptions keep the community alive here and provide you all a place to share your content you create. Just because modders aren't creating things for a specific game or interest has fallen off shouldn't detract anyone from supporting CA. You on the other hand view contributions as something you're purchasing just for you. If I had that attitude, or Dave, or Alex, or the community none of this would exist. If you want to pay someone to 3D model then I suggest you get with that person and determine how much it's going to cost. Then find out what it's going to take to sell said product from taxes to licensing fees. Then and only then will you be able to set realistic goals that folks can get behind. However to just ask folks to blindly crowd source something, as you've found, won't garner that much attention. There are just too many variables involved. So create it, fund it, and sell it. If it's as good as you say there will be people who purchase it. However a lot of folks have been there done that and it's not all it's cracked up to be. I will almost guarantee it won't be anything anyone can retire on. It's why the modders do things they want based on interest and ability. They share those creations with all of you for free. That's a tremendous thing in and of itself so before you go around lighting fires do your footwork and develop a business plan. This is my humble opinion, but as I said before I will defer to those that know more than I do. They are here and maybe one day will be involved in the discussion. Erik
  16. Do335 I think you hit on the real problem, thank you. CA has never had a year where we paid our bills and had a surplus. What is more accurate is that each month we struggle to make "maybe" 50% of our operating costs. You ever wonder who picks up the rest of bill? Well, since it's clear to me now that you've forecast our demise I might as well call it quits. So let's all thank Do335 because the end of the month is nearing, our bills are almost due, and I'm losing interest just like Do335. Sorry folks, stick a knife in me, I'm done. Erik
  17. I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but this is essentially payware. The temptation to convert freeware to payware is a big factor, not to mention any licensing agreements you'd need in place from the game developers but potentially the real life manufacturer. Money is a huge motivator for the starving artists among us but it's plagued with many downfalls as well. Anytime you sell something the expectations climb and so many folks in the community have been burned by people with good and bad intentions. I'll defer to the more informed among us but you should be aware of the limitations and downfalls upfront. This community isn't very forgiving when it comes to stuff like this, it's why most people looking to sell their wares develop first and charge later.
  18. I have to say I've seen it all now. Today we incurred 80 minutes of downtime. One of our RAID cards had it's heat sink separate from the control card itself, this threw a heat fault and the machine powered down. The controller was replaced with a new card and that machine was restarted which brought our services back online. This is one of those things that you just can't plan for. I apologize for the downtime but we are back online 100%. Thanks, Erik
  19. We had a forced restart this morning after our scan agent detected a file structure issue. Downtime was approximately 35 minutes while the disks were being managed. I apologize for not being able to provide a heads-up before the restart. However, everything is back up and running at a 100%. Thank you.
  20. For the privilege of downloading content with a subscription that supports this site. I'm not sure I understand the question besides that. Please explain. Issued refund. Thank you.
  21. FS-WWI question/help

PM ArgonV I bet he can sort it out.
  22. New Badges

That's what I would have available.
  23. Over the last few days we've been moving the contents from one online community into our site. There is no easy way to port this type of information over other than to move it by hand. This moving is creating new topic and download notifications throughout the site only. I apologize for what I now understand is annoying to some but I ask that those folks please have patience while the move is being done. If you need to more clearly define the activity you're interested in viewing I recommend you use the View New Content feature.
  24. @Erik

Let me know how it's working for you.
