Slow download speed on some files
Erik replied to GwynO's topic in Site Support / Bug Reports / Suggestions
I'm not sure how that would help if the files all came from here. Glad it's solved. Thanks. -
Can't upload a mod to the FE Downloads section.
Erik replied to Southside Bucky's topic in Site Support / Bug Reports / Suggestions
See my post above in the #2 position. My Post That error happens when your browser thinks the connection is idle or has died. There's an update in the pipeline that will move all uploads into a flash applet which will prevent this but as of today it's not yet available. E -
Slow download speed on some files
Erik replied to GwynO's topic in Site Support / Bug Reports / Suggestions
There's three sides to the equation. 1. OUR EQUIPMENT + OUR CONNECTIVITY 2. THE CONNECTIVITY BETWEEN #1 and #3 3. YOUR EQUIPMENT + YOUR CONNECTIVITY #1 is healthy I'll personally guarantee that. #2 is always unknown as routes between computers can vary and routers / switches can have problems. #3 is something you have to contend with and is best handled with your ISP. You can try to download from both download locations Download #1 and Download #2. Since those machines are in two distinctly different data centers it may help determine if the route between you and us is congested or has problems. Long download times are usually caused by packet loss otherwise known as a poor connection. Try pinging google.com 100 times and see if your connection is consistent or has a lot of timeouts (dropped packets) in it. E -
I Have Exceeded Download Limits?
Erik replied to jayo's topic in Site Support / Bug Reports / Suggestions
Some of the confusion can be caused from the following. 1. It's based on the past 24 hours (daily) and there is no magic reset time. So if you download a bunch of files at 3:00 am in the morning then they will clear at 3:00 am the following day. The system uses a last download calculation so that as you download a file that particular file falls off your download count in 24 hours. Hopefully that makes sense. 2. Download accelerators cause problems with the download system. The new software counts connections to the server so if you download one file but make 30 connections to the server to get that file (which is what download accelerators do) then you've used up your downloads. Where as if you turn off any download accelerator programs you'll make one connection to the server and then the files are counted correctly. 3. Browsers sometimes have built in download accelerators (sometimes called download managers). Internet Explorer and bundled browsers from your ISP are notorious for this. I'd recommend getting a stock installation of FireFox or some other Web2.0 compatible browser and see if your problem goes away. While we try to make things smooth for everyone sometimes personal configurations and settings can cause problems. I apologize for the inconvenience. E -
Hey everyone - Bugz0r hunting season is officially open. With the last round of upgrades that I just finished today I'd like to start getting some feedback from everyone. Please post here and let me know if you are having any problems related to the site that include: 1) Functionality (is it working like it should without errors) 2) Look and Feel (is the skin set you're using working like it should) 3) Reliability (are the pages loading fast enough and are you getting any error messages) 4) Anything else that should be noted. Thank you for your help. A thousand eyes can debug faster than me anyday. E

In the ‘Look & Feel’ video, now available at www.flashpointgame.com, key dev team members discuss just how far they’ve gone to ensure that Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising will take you as close to war as you’ll ever want to get. “When we were doing the motion capture for Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, we went to incredible lengths to get the real guns” explains Executive Producer Sion Lenton. “This is because the weight of the guns can actually affect the way the animation looks.” “Every vehicle in Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising has its own characteristics: look, handling, turnout, weaponry and so on,” Lenton continues. “Everything from the smallest jeep to the largest chopper has a completely different handling experience.” Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising will set the new standard for sandbox shooters when it arrives October 6th (US) / 8th (EPAC) / 9th (UK) for the Xbox 360®, PlayStation®3, and PC. Get the latest updates as they happen on Facebook or Follow developments straight from the studio on Twitter. :: READ MORE ::

Might be a problem with either your browser or Java. Can I ask which browser do you use, it's version number, and which java version you have installed? That will give me something to get started with. E

Custom Skin Missions
Erik replied to sitting_duck's topic in Site Support / Bug Reports / Suggestions
SD - File size is not a problem. We can and are happy to accommodate the packages you wish to release so feel free to upload them when they are ready. The download section is capable of linking to files but because we could never guarantee the content or because the link would often be broken or misused we abandoned that functionality. E -
Help with downloading
Erik replied to Wdy's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
http://forum.combatace.com/forum/99-thirdwire-woewoiwovsf-12-knowledge-base/ You can use winrar to decompress .rar formatted files. You can also use any other compression utility that supports the .rar format. There are quite a few and most are available free or at little cost. I know the guys use a lot of 7zip files too so you might want to google both of those. As for the other questions you might want to start with the above link to get started. The guys have put a lot of time and effort into the Knowledge Base for the Strike Fighters Series. Specific questions you may need to post and wait for answers but that shouldn't take long either. Hope that helps. E -
GENUIS - It's not for everyone.

With all the new skins available at CA it would be great to know which ones you guys like to use. To select or try a new skin locate the skin drop down box in the lower left corner (footer) of any page on the site. Skin choices will remain until you select a new skin and can be used site wide regardless of the theme. Drop your favorite in the poll above. E

Copy courtesy of Fallen Earth - IcarusStudios It’s been a month since early access launched, we’ve done patches, major optimizations and are finally able to catch our breath a bit. We’re seeing consistently strong sales and building a great community. We figured this would be a good time to address some questions and give everyone an update on where we are and where we’re going. We’re currently testing our first big patch 1.1.0 which includes one of our patented wall of patch notes. For those of you who have been tirelessly helping in New Player Chat, your job is about to get easier! We’re adding an extended training area into each starter town so folks can learn more about basics like crafting, harvesting, buying and using mounts, how to use mail and other essential skills. We also reorganized town events like the Embry Monster Hunt to have a better flow, although you may be too busy fighting off zombies in our Halloween event to notice our many pages of bug fixes and tweaks. Stay tuned for more details on that soon! Following patch 1.1.0, we will work to resolve issues related to accessing promotional items cross-character on user accounts in addition to a few quick bug fixes. We’re also working on more content in the levels 32–35. You’ll also see upgrades to the updater, significantly cutting down on the “Collating Data” phase and helping with some of our European download rates. The following patch, 1.2.0, will include an increased focus on group-oriented and social content, such as camps, that we’ve heard players want. Obviously there’s a lot of info to unpack in this patch but you’ll see more on that in the coming weeks and months. We keep a pretty consistent presence on the forums and general chat to see how the community is doing and want to let you know we hear you. We want to use this opportunity to weigh in on some topics that seem to come up a lot: • Fast Travel: Long term, we will likely have some manner of fast travel between sectors (probably barter town to barter town). Once we get to areas such as Sector 5, traveling back to the beginning sectors will be a HUGE pain in the butt (imagine traveling about twice the length of the existing game). Although fast travel is further down the road, when it does get set up it will be limited, expensive, and between a very strict number of settlements. • Respec: We will probably have some manner of very limited respec options in the future. What would like to help the people who spend a few points wrong and want to fix those mistakes, not folks who want to rebuild their whole character. The specifics are still up in the air, but it will be expensive, slow, and limited. • Box Sales: We acknowledge the difficulty some folks have had trying to acquire a physical box copy from their local retailer. We are working hard with our distributor to remedy those situations and open up new channels for folks to buy including the ability to buy directly from www.fallenearth.com. We are incredibly pleased with how our first month has gone. We’ve overcome a number of hurdles and seen a great response from the community. You make our game great. Keep evangelizing Fallen Earth and letting the world know about your new home. Bang down the doors of retailers and let them know they need Fallen Earth on their shelves. You are the lifeblood of this company and we need you to help spread the word. Thank you for making Fallen Earth great! :: READ MORE ::

Oops ... they just never got uploaded. Fixed.

One small problem here. For you to hear a sound file on your computer speakers you have to download the file for your computer to play. So a "preview" mode would cause double downloads if we passed one to your browser cache and then one to your computer for use. I would think a modified preview of "x" amount of seconds from a sound mod might be handy but since we just don't have that many sound files I can't see the request justifying the effort. Thank you for the suggestion!
