Can Some Body help me plz?
Caesar replied to Keraidy2's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
1. Select Next/Previous Radar Target 2. Lock Target 3. Fire Missile (when in range) -
I was always partial to the original series, but I did beat X-X6; if Maverick Hunter is close enough to X, one of the biggest advantages you can give yourself is to use the Rolling Shield on yourself in the room you have to rappel the walls in to reach Sigma; but rather than just using it to defend yourself as you go up, wait underneath the enemy spawn points. These enemies aren't strong enough to get through your shield and they drop items fairly regularly, so by just sitting under them with the shield protecting you, you'll be able to completely restock your weapons, fill your four health containers, and probably get a few extra lives. When you're fully loaded, go fight Sigma and if you get killed, repeat the process to completely restock to have a good chance. Weapon damage tables and other hints can be found here: http://mmhp.net/GameHints/MMX1-Data.html Hope this helps.

Wings Over Europe question
Caesar replied to AMRAAM_Missiles's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Did you have the option of choosing AIM-7's before a certain point and they just disappeared recently, or have you never been able to select the Sparrow? If it's the former, was there a mod you installed that could have changed either the attachment type of the Eagle's pylons or the weapons themselves? -
What is your most formidable opponent?
Caesar replied to guyran's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I agree wholeheartedly with this statement. My deadliest adversary in the later years is whoever/whatever fires at me if I don't shoot first, regardless of Red or Blue side; could be a MiG-21, MiG-23, Su-27, Su-35, F-4, F-14, F-15, F-22...if I can survive long enough and run 'em outta missiles, then get into a gunfight, I know I'm doing well, otherwise, you name the plane, it has probably shot me down with an all-aspect missile. -

Changing Aircraft Allegiance
Caesar replied to Marcus 'Blaze' Drake's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Technically no, so long as a weapon is available, you can load it. That said, if you were to use it in multiplayer, whatever the loadout.ini reads (so long as its valid) will appear on the plane, based on mission. However, you can save time by modifying the loadout.ini to read the baseline weapons you'd normally load. To actually make the weapons work, you do not need to modify the Loadout.ini. Pylon attachment types are in the aircraft data.ini, and the weapons themselves can be changed to be available for any number of nations. -
Changing Aircraft Allegiance

Being a "What If" aircraft, a US Flanker would have US weapons. I suppose the creator could've given it Eastern weaponry but opted for Western stuff. Not sure why no heaters, though. -

Changing Aircraft Allegiance
Caesar replied to Marcus 'Blaze' Drake's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Change it in the Aircraft's data.ini file (F-19 DATA.ini for example); I'm on my laptop right now so don't have access to the files/lines, but there should be a NATION or NATIONNAME or something. Switch it from USAF/USN/USMC/whatever to SOVIET. Though, if you want to keep the plane on the other side too, make a copy and rename the enemy plane. When you do, you'll have to change the plane's base ini (F-19.ini) to what you named the plane (say F-19SOV would be the folder name, so the plane's .ini would have to be F-19SOV.ini; the plane's data.ini shouldn't have to change, but the NATION line still has to read SOVIET in the data.ini for it to be on the Red side.) I did something like that to make a TOPGUN install where the red force is comprised of F-14, F-18, A-4, and F-5 types, while the blue force has the same planes and also some AF types (F-15, F-16) as well. EDIT: Also, for weapons, using the weapon editor you can add a nation to the weapon; so if you checked off "SOVIET" for, say the AIM-54, you should see it available for Soviet A/C with big enough AHM pylons, or add USAF or USN or NATO (etc) to the weapon pylon you want to carry a Western missile on an Eastern plane. -
Know Your Aircraft...
Caesar replied to Lt. James Cater's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
F-14A - Pros: At range it is unmatched with its radar and missiles. In close, it is an excellent, stable gun platform and great dogfighter. Cons: Those damned TF30s, which in game don't have a stalling problem, but clearly aren't powerful enough for the plane; the acceleration is a joke compared to later fighters. Also, roll rate is glacial compared to most planes; though with the use of rudders and tactics, you can work around that. -
RL vs Modding
Caesar replied to lindr2's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Lindr, looking good! -
Saw it last night. While I definately liked the movie, I can never tell who is winning a fight until its over: parts seem to go flying left and right, heavy damage looks like its being done, then the Transformer I think is winning gets destroyed. But the action was obviously good, and at least Megatron and Starscream actually had speaking roles in this one!

ToS...Awesome! -
Well, yeah, but the F-15 and -16 don't even approach the unit cost of the F-22 or B-2 per plane, and are proven platforms; no reason to cut the production lines. EDIT: But I do agree, it is kind of amusing to think about that fact.

Caesar has arrived in California (Vandenberg AFB)! Over 2800mi traveled and the Taurus pulled thru like a champ. Too bad I ran into problems with getting a new mil ID...long story, PITA, and it'll have to be resolved tomorrow :angry2: . At least I'm here, off the friggin' road, and can begin the process to start Officer Space/Missiles 100 .

That was friggin' hillarious. I have to say that even when I was younger and screwed around with making explosives/-ions, I never did anything like THAT: I always had some safety system involved when the boom was gonna be big (slow fuse, barricades, etc). Not that they always worked...

To get or not to get Vista is the question
Caesar replied to serverandenforcer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well, in running games from around the 1998-2000 timeline, it has been a ROYAL pain with Vista; my friend and I were trying to fire up Diablo II for the first time in years; got right off the ground in Win7; with Vista, it took about 45 minutes of research and even then it functions only in windowed mode, running as administrator. Similar problems exist with MechWarrior 3 in Vista. Of course, not many folks probably run these programs anymore, but it takes less to get them to run in Win7 than Vista. -
To get or not to get Vista is the question
Caesar replied to serverandenforcer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Coming to you from New Mexico en route to Cali: one of my friends has the Win 7 RC and just like everyone has said, it's a hell of a lot better than Vista. Better backwards compatibility, better stability, overall just a better Windows. Caesar out. -
Well, I'm absolutely certain all of the current and former military members on this site have had this happen plenty of times, but it's the first for me: my move date got changed from 9 July to 18 June due to a shortage of missile students, so things have been a bit hectic around here (just got a call this morning telling me about the change ). So if for any reason someone should try to contact me, I'll be gone for about 6 days from 18 June travelling from Syracuse, NY to Vandenberg, CA. Cross-country in an '06 Taurus...wewt!
