  1. To piggyback off of Brian, if you're firing the Buffalo at long range and the missile tries to lead too far, or you're firing close to the limits of the missile's parameters, the target will leave the FOV and the missile will loose track. In the case of maneuvering fighters, when you fire BVR that isn't a problem, fighter or not, the enemies keep flying straight and level until they are in a dogfight. I'd say your problem is most likely the countermeasures, though, they are over-effective in the games. There's really not an effective solution other than to beef up your missiles resiliance to chaff and flare. If you do this, be ready to put G's on your plane when you're trying to evade. This has been discussed before, so I'd try the search or check the knowledge base to see if anyone has come up with anything else on the subject.
  2. Could be that they are pumping out chaff. It always happens to me when I fly red air that no missiles hit ever unless they're IR, and even then it's questionable because the blue guys (Turkeys, Bugs, Eagles and Vipers) have chaff and flare. When I go against the Flanker as one of the above fighters, I usually have low hit rates, save for IR-guided missiles, and a modified AIM-54C++, which I made a lot more resiliant to chaff. Not 100% kill rate, but it's a lot higher than the other radar missiles!
  3. The only member of your formation you can tell to directly attack a primary target is your #2, your wingman. #3, 4 and beyond can only be told to attack ground targets. That of course doesn't guarantee he'll hit it.
  4. I think it'd be an interesting terrain. I seem to recall the "Jet Fighter" series having their campaigns over California, so NY wouldn't be a bad idea...and it'd be rockin' (for me anyways) to fly out of Hancock with the 174th to bag some bandits over the city. A question though: wouldn't all those skyscrapers annihilate framerates?
  5. Thanks Marc, and great job!

  7. A MASSIVE complaint about something...

IIRC Hershey's and most American chocolates, at least mass-produced, have high wax content. This makes 'em last longer on shelf and slightly more resiliant to heat, but also affects the taste. Personally, I think Hershey's is fine, though I like the stuff from Germany, Austria and England better.
  8. For the Flanker fans

http://www.tomcat-sunset.org/forums/index.php?topic=2475.15 Page 2, Tom Cooper responds to pic with real pic. ...guess I did have time to rummage around...
  9. For the Flanker fans

I don't think the Russians ever did. The picture at top was over at the Sunset site, and right beneath it was the very same picture in color of the 'Cat in American markings ferrying over to Iran. It's believed that the pic at the top is a photoshop. Got classes today, so I can't rummage through the site to find it yet, but scan at tomcat-sunset.org/forums and try to find the topic.
  10. Yep. Think we had 2 wins this season. Worse than last season. Oh well, the 174th still kicks ass!
  11. Love the 'Cuse bird! ...now if only our football team could get their act together...
  12. Good lookin' skin. Just one question though: isn't Jolly Rogers spelled without a "d"?
  13. Increased age of the gamer, or rather, that gamers don't necessarily stop just because they're getting older. I think it'd be an interesting study.
  14. Any History about CA?

    PROPVGNATORCERTAMINIS???
  15. Your thoughts

I think your response was on the mark. To want something but not work for it just does not add up, and especially to wear the uniform but be unwilling to sacrifice is pretty low.
  16. Try with the keyboard, it actually isn't half bad; offers good control that's guaranteed to work. That's how I played before I got my stick.
  17. Well, I'm not sure what to tell you. Until 15 minutes ago I've never played the game with a mouse; sticks and even game pads, but not the mouse, and it doesn't seem to handle the mouse in a favorable fashion. The game doesn't have a problem when the mouse is used for the camera control zoom with the wheel, but as for the throttle, I have no idea why it doesn't handle it in the same way.
  18. Evidentally not with SF/WoV/WoE. The mouse control apparently does recenter every time, so I'd say go keys for now.
  19. Okay, nevermind the settings, your problem is that you're flying with the mouse. I just took a whack at it...no go. If I were you, I'd use the keyboard arrows as a sub until you get a stick, 'cause there's no friggin way to dogfight with a mouse.
  20. What settings are you flying (Easy/Medium/Hard), with what plane does this happen, and at what speed and altitude?
  21. Mirage F1

Delta6, what's your descent rate? If you're going 120 knots but dropping at 2000ft/min the landing ain't gonna be pretty...
