Are you running the latest WoV patch? -

Which service pack of the game (WoV) are you running? The game can be unstable in earlier versions, at least it was for me before SP3, and with SP4 I haven't really had any hiccups. Prior versions would be lucky to run 50% of the time on my machine. -

Nothing short of amazing, I'm very glad to see an accurately modeled Alpha 'Cat HUD! About two weeks to release? -

Most damaged aircraft that remained flyable
Caesar replied to Hawk MMS's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Generally speaking, it isn't common to be able to keep flying the a/c after taking a missile hit (or guns for that matter), with the minimum usually being the aircraft on fire, but it does happen every once in a while. -

This was fun; got a 'winder kill and landed her after taking one for the team. -

I, Robot? -
I was definately impressed with it; agree with the other posts, too much human, not enough metal.

I don't think the SH can outrank the Tomcat in very many ways at all; it was never initially intended to replace the Tomcat in the first place, rather be a gap filler for "inadequacies" in the legacy Hornets (range, payload, et cetera). It lacks the speed, loiter time, range, and even accuracy that the Tomcat brought to the field. In other words, it can't get to the target as quickly even in afterburner, it can't wait over the target/buddy laze as long, it can't fly as far without refueling to get to the target, and the NiteHawk system hasn't proven itself to be much better than LANTIRN, if it is at all. On top of that, the Navy lost any possibility of filling the hole left by the A-6 by selecting the SH over the ST-21, which would have given the Navy a near equivalent in strike power to the F-15E. And it's not like the SH is cheap either! But in the end, the Big Cat got nixed and ceased production in '91; nothing to do but let the frames get older and run out of life, and with Grumman landing a part in the SH project, people who backed the 'Cat were fighting a loosing battle. I don't think I'll ever like the Super Bug, but it's what the Navy's got now, and they've got great air and ground crews to fly and maintain those planes. And I would still like to see the Navy's latest fighter in the TW series. Keep up the good work, Marcelo!

IVLIVSCAESAR (pronounced: you-lee-uss kai-ssar[trilled]) ought to ring a bell; Classical Latin is the only language I'm any good at, and Cicero (kik-ehr[trilled]-oh) sounds too academic. Caesar fits a bit better as a callsign, in my mind.

Umm......

When my wingman is in a Tomcat and I give him an attack command, he'll fire as far out as 120 miles (with AIM-54A equipped) and is usually good with the AIM-7's or AIM-9's. If he's got a command, he'll fire the instant he crosses Rmax. But like HrntFixr said, skill takes account as well; I almost always assign #2 to one of the most experienced pilots available. If I end up with an Ensign, or someone with skill ~60 or less, sometimes they do try to just close for guns; rarely in my experience, but what you describe has happened to me with a green wingman. -
I'm guessing you don't need anyone fluent in Classical or Ecclesiastical Latin, do you...

Has anyone else come up with this problem? The F-4EJ Kai Phantom II will literally disappear from view depending on distance to the aircraft. All that can be seen is its weapon loadout, and depending on angle, pilot and RIO. The aircraft completely disappears from view. Makes it hard to either escort, or if I'm on the Red side, gun the aircraft. Any fixes possible? And no, my video card is not from Latvia, I can assure you. I mean, the only mafia I deal with are the remnants from the former Roman Empire who live secretly in...nevermind that... But seriously, does anyone else have this problem/know of a fix?

IIRC that's from "Rat Race"; they play it on Comedy Central all the time. That is a funny sequence.

Questions
Caesar replied to cgold's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The HAWK can be loaded to a Tomcat if it's modified to carry the HAWK on the Phoenix pylons. I got them on my Iranian 'Cat a while back but never released the capability as a mod; not enough interest for me to go off looking for permission from both the HAWK maker and Mirage Factory. On top of that they never saw mainstream use, and overall they were pretty useless. They'd hit the target, sure, but rarely, and they weighed the 'Cat down horrendously. Better to stick with Sparrow as your SAHM missile. -
Paul Allen's death sequence in American Psycho ranks up there with me. Morbid, yes, funny as hell, that too.

Save the world? More like CONQUER it, Mr. Aale Gore! I don't like how this looks...

Can someone explain to me...?
Caesar replied to SayethWhaaaa's topic in Military and General Aviation
Could it potentially be a plane with an angled seat like the F-16 or Su-47? Looks like you're laying down in a coffin?
