Individual speech packs for different nations
GrinchWSLG replied to thereg's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
So if I'm flying for the USAF and I've got the USAF speech pack installed, and an RAF flight checks on with TACC (with the RAF speech pack installed), will I hear them check on with the British speech files? -
Hurc's Nellis Range Mod
GrinchWSLG replied to hurc's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Is the ASR Radar a stock object? Has the animation time on it always been 2.0? Way too fast, only noticed it cuz it was next to the runway as I was landing. Should take 6 seconds per sweep. Make ASR Radar AnimationTime=6.0 in Desert_Types if you want true realism boys. -

More range time. -
Okay, now that I've check it out, only a few gripes. A. Round trip as mentioned is a bit too long. I liked the old range where I could pop out and back real quick-like. B. Minor, and I don't even know if you'll want to fix it, the radar at Nellis spins a little fast I think. The military ones might be different but ours is very similiar and it only goes round once every 6 seconds.

Government snuffs AT-6 in favor of Embraer’s A-29 Super Tucano
GrinchWSLG replied to Fates's topic in Military and General Aviation
Marc, we have a bidding and appropriations system. The point it to put out a contract with specific requirements. At the end of the bidding process the submitted proposals are reviewed, and the one which fulfills the contract requirements for the lowest cost to the taxpayer is chosen. If the Tucano was always the better aircraft, then letting the process fairly run its course should not have been an issue. Instead Raytheon was booted from the contract without reason, and they didn't find the reason until they took the government to court. You claim that Raytheon is the only one using political methods here, but it is clear from the mismanagement of the bid process that Embraer is doing the same thing. It happens in every contract the government puts out, and the USAF is very bad at handling them. -

Disregard. I've got it figured out. -

Precisely. I've always wanted more campaign depth. There's a lot there already but its difficult to see. More depth for mission editing would be great too, like triggers and on screen text display, so you can tell a story instead of just setting up yet another out and back mission. Better behavior for ground objects would be sweet too. Ahhh, you've got me dreaming now. I'm really excited to see what we'll be getting with the new game. Only wish we had some clue as to a release date... -

Hmm, guess I'll have a look. Not much got done this weekend. Had to force myself back on a normal sleep schedule after 3 mids, that and a bottle of wine kept me from modeling. Finished some bits up tonight though. For the most part the rest is the horrible detail work. *Details aside from the props, gun, and doors obviously. I keep putting the doors off... -

Yeah, that's what my plan is as well, make two objects. Wonder if anyone has a squad of Soviet paratroopers I can borrow... -

Government snuffs AT-6 in favor of Embraer’s A-29 Super Tucano
GrinchWSLG replied to Fates's topic in Military and General Aviation
I'm surprised the GAO turned down a review. This whole thing stinks. Cutting the AT-6 from the competition without any reason then immediately awarding the contract to the other company without just letting the bid run its course is very suspicious. Quite a bit of politics at play here. Why the USAF can't get its act together and run bid competitions properly is beyond me, especially after the KC-X fiasco that ultimately cost the tax payers millions and kept our air crews flying ancient airframes for even longer. -

Figured it be easier for me to just keep this all in one thread. Now that my ATC training is finally winding down (12 more hours and I'm up for final check out!!!) I've had time to get back in modelling. I've been getting a little better so my work rate is more comfortable and less frustrating now as well. Here's some pics of misc. stuff I'm currently working on. The high detail stuff will obviously be toned down for the game engine. -

Wat? Just use a TGA for spinning prop disks since they support transparency in game. I used them for the antenna on the Fletcher. I mean, I guess I can try the way you mentioned but I don't think it will look as realistic as a disk painted up to look like a prop spinning at high speed. Example of what I'm talking about http://cdn-www.airliners.net/photos/photos/1/1/7/0594711.jpg But now that I think of it, I can use your trick at a slower speed to increase the effect. -

Was thinking about just doing semi transparent disks for the moving version and static fans for the static one. -

Lebed is being roughed out. Trying to work on it when I can but my schedule is just crazy right now. That and I may be going to Seattle for a few days on a spontaneous road trip with a friend. -
