  1. That seems to be the norm for all but the most ardent admirers. Once you get over the oooh factor, the lack of anything resembling a campaign and the other issues, seem to be putting the lid all but the hardcore on-liners. The chorus is starting to rise "demanding" the SU-26 that was supposed to be included (why?). Too much drama! I think I'll wait a year for it to be fixed.
  2. The "I'm not going to watch the wedding" thread

Nope. Starts here at 0400. I'll get up at 0500 to get ready for work anyway, but I don't plan to tune in. I'll watch the highlights (over and over and over and over) later.
  3. In your realism settings, have you selected separate engine management (I can't recall exactly what it's called), by chance? You have gone all the way down to the bottom of the control assignments to the Hotas section and assigned the axis to throttle? If it's not one of those two, I'm out of airspeed and ideas!
  4. For what I paid for it, I'm not complaining about anything! If I don't care about 2 seaters, which I don't other than to use as targets, I don't have to buy them to see the AI and other players use them. I really like that part.
  5. That depends on what you define as must haves. For example there are fixes for AA so they don't see and shoot through clouds. There are fixes so the AI rear turret gunners are no longer deadly snipers that will hit you in the eye at 800 meters. If those are must haves, then yes! Most add ons, other than some of the effects packages, are not graphic intensive, IMO. UP gives you the option of loading up 4.10.1m as an option anyway. I have separate installs for HSFX, UP, Stock (sort of) and Histomod, but that's just in case I mess something up so I don't bork a HUGE install! Plus I got a big hard drive!
  6. yes, pardon my dyslexic fingers, it is indeed 4.10.1M!
  7. Reinstalling ROF question

I read on the RoF Forums that it should work!
  8. That is pretty much my experience, so far. It's still quite nice on medium!
  9. That is the only read me that's been posted so far. It was to be considered a beta. It may still be included. If not, very simple to install!

  11. Unless they change it in the new 3.0 version, yes. The 2.01 version has HSFX 4.0. The newest HSFX version is 5.0.
  12. Got it working OK with RoF Boost. D/Led and installed. Now to perfect my ground impacts...
  13. To answer your questions: 1. All inclusive and handled together. 2. Online is still quite strong, but down since CloD has been introduced. 3. No community Wiki AFIK. Somewhere, I'm sure there's a comprehensive list of all the A/C in game. Mission builder is considered on of the best in the business and there is a web site devoted to mission and campaign building with step by step tutorials. Yes, you can position everything. 4. I'm pretty sure the answer is yes and you don't have to d/l the skin. I think it's automatic. Hope that helps. Get the basic game installed and running before you get UP or any other mods.
  14. I was thinking about buying the ICE edition, so I downloaded the demo. It looks good. Even turned down it looks good. It flies OK. If sampled the Spad and Albie. The Spad is like trying to have a fight while looking through the book case at the public library. It's a bitch to shoot anything down. It runs like ass on my dual core system. I plan on spending an hour or so tweaking and trying the various fixes and if that doesn't do the trick, no sale. I will look at FE2 or OFF3...
  15. Good news! Not all doom and gloom, so far.
  16. They seem to be on the road to getting the FPS and stutters fixed. Now if they can just get the campaign fixed and make it so you can climb to altitude...
  17. So, it's better, but still not really "fixed" since the BoB didn't take place exclusively over the channel. But on the upside we have some nice videos of a tank battle taking place!
  18. So I hear! It is good news that most folks report nice gains. It may actually work now! Amazing that in a couple of weeks they can improve a product that was so obviously broken after all that development time. I'm still uncertain as to whether it will even run for me, so I'm on the fence, still.
  19. Don't remember about perfect water and ATI, but that sounds right. I only did it once to say I did it, but now I've got an ATI. Unless they've changed their minds, UP will contain HSFX, too. So it's a single download.
  20. The new 3.0 UP is due out any minute for 4101, also. The massive Readme is up at the UP site.
  21. You guys don't realize how nice it is to be able to discuss this, warts and all without having to deal with the melodramatic crap...
  22. Yes. Right now they are primarily focused on exterior lighting effects, but they and the UP guys seem fairly optimistic that it can be either developed or "ported over" so to speak. Quote "Shadowing can work in IL2, in all cockpits with not bad results. The only thing that needs to be done is to enable the shadowing in IL2's engine. The feature IS there, it just needs someone that knows-how to Enable it. Once someone enable it, we will all have a nice surprise ;) A positive one. And i know exactly what i am talking about ;)"
  23. SAS are working on it, amongst other mod groups. There's some optimism that I can get done.
  24. As I understand it, it consists of a series of scripted missions (16?) that culminate with you having to shoot down a "traitor" as he tries to escape in a Spit with a girl in his lap...You have got to be s**tting me We waited seven years for this?
