Austrian Semi-Random Hex Camo (Work in Progress)
elephant replied to Bullethead's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Γειά σου φίλε! Ι've been following the progress of this fantastic project since day one... As a matter of fact Lukasz (one of the creators) offered me to test it, (before the contract with A2A), but unfortunately I don't have FSX... -

Wow nice screens, Cpt.S, Lou and Olham! One little historical trivial info about Jasta 37, Detlev... Except from not flying OAW machines (if not terribly wrong) the pilot's personal symbols were traditionally in black-white (Jasta colours). In the case of all black planes in white. -
Well, this is not quite true... 1st. The only definite distinction between D.V and D.Va is the aileron controls, (brackets can be seen on uprated D.V-s even D.III-s). 2nd. The serial number alone denotes that the machine is a D.Va of the first production batch (5165-5426/17) 3rd. Yes, there were some further reinforcements in Albatros D.Va wings, but in the OAW built machines (that had brackets BTW) and has nothing to do with the lack of brackets in some planes (of the first batch from my brief inquiry) . Here is D.5390/17 (first batch) showing no brackets: D.5409/17 (first batch) no brackets: D.5629/17 (second batch) showing brackets: D.5815/17 (second batch) showing brackets: D.7098/17 (third batch) showing brackets: D.7327/17 (third batch) showing brackets:

Some time ago I started working on some skins for my favorite WWI plane: The Albatros D.V! (You may visit my Jasta 37 WiP thread in SimHQ for further details) http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3401789/My_first_WiP_skins_Jasta_37_Al.html#Post3401789 From the template created, I tried to make some new generic default skins for the D.Va in RoF, in order to address many mistakes the current defaults have. One thing led to another and now I'm in the making of a brand new "Johannisthal Mod", for the D.V-D.Va (and not only) like the one we created with Graf and JFM for the D.III. I've been studying to death old pics and contemporary research essays, about the hue of the colours used originally and tried to best adapt all these into RoF's world... I have to say I feel pretty pleased with my results... :) This Mod using a new, modified "universal" normal map, will give as accurate as possible, (within RoF's 3d model's limitations), external models for practically any D.V-D.Va variant. (the FM will remain the same, only the looks will vary). Here are samples of what I have so far: Albatros D.V camo Albatros D.V lozenge Albatros D.V hack details Albatros D.Va camo Albatros D.Va lozenge Edited normal map underside detail on D.Va For further details of how this project evolved and some more pics you may visit my SimHQ thread: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3512081/Albatros_D_V_D_Va_Johannisthal.html#Post3512081 Your comments, objections, corrections are always welcome...

Hi guys, I found some spare time last week and worked the Albatros D.V mod. Look how the new corrected footstep looks in game: I put some more work on that updated template during the weekend and made finally, the correct early model's nose planking: The universal normal map works just fine don't you think? I finaly settled up on the camo colours and created a D.V Mod for JSGME with all the new normal map. I have added more Generics to the Mod (all the Jastas that first received the D.5, according to PWCG), incorporating the updated template. I think that in a couple of days I'll be able to release a beta...

Anemometers and Airspeed Indicators
elephant replied to Pips's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
The use of term Tachometer in English for (RPM-counter) is very strange to me too, being Greek... The word is Greek and means literally Speedometer (tachytis=speed + metron=meter). -
