Some really great pics there and stories as well! BTW, do you have an Albatros PSD template to share? I find your skins much more crisp than the default ones I use as a starting point for my own ones. -

@ ace888... The Hellenic Air Force color scheme on F4s and F16s looks much more subtle, in reality, than in your version... Also look how dark the national markings should be and the heavy weathering... -
Nowhere else do I get beaten up as much as in Jasta 5
elephant replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Why still on Jasta Boelcke Scheme? In my brief experience with Jasta 5, (second pilot), I have difficulties getting my usual number of kills as my squadmates seem to be getting all the credit...(many aces and lots of kill stealing by firing already flamed by me planes)! -

There is Campaign Generator tool for IL-2 by Paul Lowengrin if you want to fly a decent and also customisable Dynamic Campaign, but the majority of the user made scripted historical Campaigns are very well researched and immersive as well. -

Horror films was never to my taste... I'm a big fun of Poe's and Lovecraft's works in literature though. Speaking of movies I recently watched by accident a film by Jane Campion that never heard of and was IMO a little masterpiece..."Bright Star"! Crafted to perfection by the director and crew with some quite impressive performances by the whole cast. I was totaly stunned and moved by this movie! It seemed to me like a diamond sparkling light not only as a whole but from it's every tiny crystal-detail . Cudos to Ms Campion... Sorry for this kind of OT delirium but I couldn't help it!

It happened to me too once... "And it's great frustration when a good pilot dies in vain as this one of mine, named Oskar Zeiss, flying for Jasta 5 in 1917... He and fellow Jasta 5 pilots bounced a formation of British FE2s. He managed to set one ablaze but when passing over the flaming plane a crew member jumped off taking half of his port wing with him! Anyway "he" managed to nurse the plane to the closest airfield and conducted a textbook emergency landing...all of a sudden the landing gear collapsed, (I guess it would have been damaged from the impact with the unfortunate Brit), the plane crawled on it's belly and I got the message that your pilot is dead! Come on! How can this be happening to me?"

I have seen that documentary too...it also demonstrated how the Martini-Henry rifle was jamming after a number of shots from gun pouder layering inside the barrel...(was it the same or I'm wrong?)

There are some great mods for Total War series out there! I prefer this more cinematic one for the Zulu War: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NQYgPghNWw&NR=1

I agree with Jim! The original post was asking nothing more than an update... Don't confuse things.

OT: What's your 2011 game "Must Have" list?
elephant replied to Hellshade's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Shogun 2 will be out in a month or so and is expected to be legendary... I had a phase with Medieval 2 a couple of years ago. My 15 year old nephew plays a lot the series and I play the translator, as his english are not the best. He has got the whole Total War series except from the initial Shogun title. I was lurking at the site he usually takes his mods from, for Shogun 2 news and that's how I found this WWI mod. -

I use hard settings for both to simulate ineffectiveness of early mg guns and to make air killing harder so to have more realistic kill tallies for my pilots. Of course in addition to your great damage mod...

Dammit! Early British Campaigns are tough

Hey Creaghorn, All the "myths" revealed about Thermopylae you mention, (except the betrayal) are already included in the 7th book of Herodotus, (Polymnia)...(the Persian Army according to Herodotus was 1,000,000 men, the Greek City States allied Armies were aprox.6,000). So it's ancient history allready...(modern historians calculating Xerxes army to 300,000) One thing about the betrayal thing that may reveals the "myth" about it, that is my own observation, is the name of the traitor: "Ephialtes" which in modern greek means Nightmare, in a literal translation from Ancient Greek though, often ignored, means: "someone who jumps over" and I don't think that this is coincidental. -
Never heard of him...Impressive tally indeed!
