  1. Up And Going!

The pilot posing on that SE5a pic (in the site posted by Olham) is Pour Le Merite holder and Jasta 12 Kommandeur, Adolf Ritter von Tutschek. He is wearing the full flight gear (Sidcot suit and leather cap) of the British pilot too. Here is he with his black Albatros D.III, upon his appointment as CO of Jasta 12 (from Jasta 2 Boelcke) again wearing captured British flight gear! P.S. Wellcome aboard OldSimmer!

  3. OFF portrays Jasta 78b's generic Albatros D.Va with a brownish grey metal primer (OAW) and black spinner. In WW site there is a couple of photos of Michael Sigmann's plane (an OAW D.Va) from a Jasta 78 line up. The parts of the other planes visible in the pics do not suggest the use of a Jasta identification marking, the sample is too small to be definitive, anyway... PS: Found the full version of the first line up photo, featuring a mix of Albatros D.III (OAW) and D.Va (OAW) not in high so resolution unfortunately... (scanned from Windsock Datafile 03)
  4. Jasta 29 was among the few Jastas that did't have an overall applied unit marking, only individual pilot identification markings, including the black trimmed in white numerals and letters you mention, Dej. Here is the photo you're asking for: PS: Jasta 15 was among the units with no distinctive unit markings except form pilot's individual identification, before the 'staffel swap' with Jasta 18. PS: Jasta 35b is question marked in Olham's list but it had a distinctive marking: diagonal white bands on upper wing repeated in black on lower wings undersides.
  5. No 12 is painted on the vertical stabilizer of that D.III (OAW) (it's obscured by the WW watermark on Olham's picture) Here is the close up: (lower left corner, again underneath www.wingnutwings.com)
  6. The first one is a D.III (OAW) and indeed belongs to Jasta 18 by it's colour scheme (Prussian Blue fuselage-Red nose) and specifically to ace pilot Johannes Klein (white band aft cockpit). The second one (D.V) seems to be from Jasta 36...
  7. Lost a caption...

    It's a Zeppelin-Lindau (Dornier) CS.I PS too late...
  8. Indeed, also the trimming on the vertical stabilizer cross was not existent, as the pics show. Profile work is not a safe place to gather info... I just used it to show the current belief on Goering's D.III scheme, in order to establish the inner colour theory, In comparison to the photos of the real plane.
  9. Yes, that's's logical, Cody but, that upper wing striped pattern is so similar to his well known D.III's one, when he was first commissioned CO of Jasta 27... (far right on the foreground) count on this his well known vanity and you'll assume the plane has to be his own. Now that I see his D.III again with the Buddecke site pic in mind, I can tell that a colour should be painted as well between the white lines, as I can't see the factory camo in between...particularly on the left side where the under-imposed colour is the Venetian Red. What this mystery colour would be... Olham? He was a Bavarian, could it be Bavarian Blue? Do you think I'm seeing ghosts? P.S. We posted at the same time as it seems...Olham.
  10. My interpretation of lozenge was because I couldn't see any camo demarcation lines and I thought I saw two repetitive darker colour patches on the left of Goering's arm... I could be wrong. I only thought of black (fuselage) because of Goering's former paint schemes. If other than black could the inner colour of the upper wing be identical to the fuselage one? I have to re-visit Peter Kilduff's book on Goering... (I don't remember this pic included anyway).
  11. Except from von der Meppen's extreme height (out of scale comparing to the others), I hadn't seen before this Goering's D.V... The paint scheme seems to combine features of his former D.IIIs and D.Vs. Looks like the fuselage is black with a white tail section but is the whole engine hood painted white as well? (or it's just sun glare?) The wings seems to be of lozenge fabric but what about the (roughly painted) stripes on top? The white parts look identical to his old D.III ones but with about inner colour? Here is his summer '17 mount, D.1027/17...
  12. DH-2 and German riggers?

Landed behind enemy lines...and been examined. The people are definitely German, from the outfits.
  13. The new GUI looks fantastic and what to say about the skies, the aerodromes and the overall "I was there" impression! Also, the Albatros D.V skins looked superb! Only one question, though... The external model as well as the in cockpit view (which looked so advanced over the OFF's one, BTW ) seemed to be of a D.Va! (minus the braces, but they were not mandatory, anyway) Is it kind of place holder till the real D.V 3D is finished?
  14. That was pure art! Fantastic...thanks so much for sharing, Typhoon!

  16. You have done a titanic work, Lothar! My OFF installation has been compromised, for some time now and needs to be re-installed. I was waiting for WOFF, but this one may worth the trouble.
  17. It's ΠA, actually... Πολεμική Aεροπορίa = Air Force (War Aviation, literally) Very plausible skins! (except from the serial, may be...)
