  1. Well uncleal, I did it the quick and dirty way. Used JSGME mod enabler to substitute manager.exe ver 1.0 with the latest manager from HitR 1.47. That way one cannot mess things up. Obviously using the 1.0 manager, gives 1.0 features good (imho) and bad... The cost: 1.Only custom skins for HitR aircraft (exept Fok E5). 2.Restricted Workshop settings as per ver 1.0. 3.No nationality screen at campaign start. The gain: 1. Lovely, classy main screen (Rid of the arcadish HitR Pic), in same style as first start screens with famous aces in Old Brown. (The one with burning OFF letters) 2. Brownish menu sides and sand-timer, nice. I regard the cost too high so I revert to default. That is, until some more enlightened soul combines the best of both worlds, by implementing the ver 1.0 graphics with 1.47 functionality... I hope that I did not condemn myself to being a heretic , just giving some constructive feedback on my behalf. The game stands as a rock, period. Best regards, trebb
  2. Never mind trouble, Arafat is dead...its done! Nice Retro OFF look, altough not perfectly working. For instance, no skins for US Nieu28 recognized. But it works and is more flavored to my taste now!
  3. Any of the Devs maybe pretty please? Thanks, trebb
  4. uncleal, do you mean it is hard-coded or something? Seems to me that it is just a pic from a file wich was changed to depict the HitR install... If it cant be done, Ill live with it... Cheers, trebby
  5. Yep we could, there is quite some overlap too, scary. It gets better, same age, too.
  6. Hmmm, can handle that: Red Baron Knights of the Sky Flight Leader Airforce Airforce expansion-Pacific Panzerblitz (gone now, to abstract imho) Panzerleader (gone too) Arab-Israeli wars (gone but most intersting of 3 still today) Tobruk (and all related articles from general mag) Advanced Tobruk (AT)(couple of years ago) AT-Panther line AT-Kursk AT-4 desert expansions SL ASL - Paratrooper - Yanks - Beyond Valour - West of Alamain - Streets of Fire (Deluxe ASL) - Hedgerow Hell (Deluxe ASL) - Pegasus Bridge (Historical ASL) - Stalingrad/Red Barricades (Historical ASL) B17 Pattons best Gladiator Rise of the luftwaffe (GMT) Luftwaffe (AH) Flat Top I envy you for submarine as that was on the top of my wishlist but never came to the store in Amsterdam (the American discount-an exotic store in those days...) Postordering (and pocketmoney) stopped any plans for ordering overseas. Cant have em all right? Cheers, trebb
  7. But Barkhorn.... Why not? As long as other sacred OFF-dev work takes its place? It will still be happy inbreed you know
  8. Hello gents, After purchasing HitR and activating it via JSGME there is a new mainscreen picture of an Nieu28 in US colors with an insaniously laughing pilot in it. I rather have the atmospheric mainscreen picture of OFF phase3-out-of-the-box. Changing files via JSGME (mod installing proggie) would be easy if only I knew were the mainscreen pic is.... Any tips? Thanks, trebb.
  9. Thanks for the tip. Will be lookin out for that one! trebby
  10. OK Barkhorn, Still in mint/unpunched condition! Got SL too and then moved on to Advanced Squad Leader. Never came to grips with the monstous pile of rules tough... Had a good time with "Tobruk" armour game. Armour penetration tables/rules by a guy (Hal Hock) who actually fired most guns after WW2 testing grounds. Maybe I will sell the ASL game on ebay some day, also have many expansions. Stalingrad and Pegasus bridge the finest, just laying around. Airforce, B17 queen of the skies, Flight leader, KotS, Tobruk and RB being my once favorites. @Rabu: my kids still play seebattle with me every now and then...Kids are great alibi right? Trebb.
  11. The BA strike and the Lufthansa strike, both symptoms of the common man/woman versus the greedy suits? I strongly support both strikes. Not so much because I am an socialist. Rather the contrary. But I do think its the only way to retard the powers that are, maybe even stop the way were all moving to. (See above links) Its too much for my taste. I think the balance of power is leaning way too much in the corporate side. As one of the journalists in germany got told: we are not striking against Lufthansa, we are striking against the Lufthansa MANAGEMENT because WE are Lufthansa.... The conflict is really about shifting proper jobs/production to low income/cost countries and breaking the union. This conflict will spread as not only flying personnel but also ground personnel is affected just as much and are just starting to realize it. Watch my words. Trebb. NB. the best zeigeist link with subs for most languages: start movie on: "subtitles here". on the right blue screen: http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/ I promise to stop whining about seeing this movie now, and NO I am not an member.
  12. Zeitgeist-the movie. Well might as well throw my favorite in as far as discussing the world situation goes. A collegue of mine thought he was funny when he attended me to it with the words: "dont die stupid". Its far worse on an macro level than we think, even if 50% would be true. Check this out if u have some time (2:00) on your hand. Either youll be fascinated after 15 min or just clic it away... English: (start with right "the movie" in blue) http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/ German subs : http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8472935505159439178# Be advised: strongly religious people might be offended due to atheist points of view. Trebb.
  13. Nice link Aroth & Duce, Wow, real 3d pieces in the pre-computer era... that was real hi-tech back then! @Barkhorn/NS13Jarhead: never threw away any of those games too for nostalgia despite several pleas from the wife to "clean up" finally... Cheers, trebb.
  14. I still own RB and KotS, reread the manuals again yesterday... I tried OFF phase 2 and liked it very much.I basically used it as an "aircraft viewer". The thing that put me off so long was the very same thing that made CFS3 a nuisance: the panning thing. Using a coolie hat in a dogfight just well, doesnt work. I bought an TrackIr2 a few years ago but never got to grips with it because the framerates were bad; flying a slide show and alignment problems plagued me. Also I had problems getting it to work with OFF phase2 without freezes (amongst other problems with an german XP). Christmas brought me an Trackir5. And that was IT! Technologically superior to TIR2 it was what I always had wanted and allowed me virtual cockpit in CFS3 (and conversions). Now OFF phase3 would be available in full glory and I ordered soon after. Moral of the story (kicks in the open door): get TrackIR! (Even in its basic form without clippro the thing works fine, might save a bit on that.) trebb. Cheers, trebb.
  15. A big thanks mr. Polovski and OFF team! Exellent and extremely atmospherical game it is. Clearly made with love. AI opponents still get the better of me rather sooner than later, if I dont kill myself hitting the ground with those crates before... As a kid I played the boardgame Richthofens War to death, no computers but all imagination ( http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/1711/richthofens-war ), and loads, loads of atmosphere and background info Then Knights of the air came, technically advanced but lacking somewhat that atmospere again.... ( http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/1716/knights-of-the-air ) Red Baron series for PC in 1992 got me back into all that again convincingly for the last time, and missed (?) some titles after that. Again, loads of atmosphere (and colorful, informative manuals and charts: a PC game was really finished then wasnt it?) seemingly overtaken (or trading) by great technical improvements (graphics mainly) and losing that atmosphere again for me. Now, OFF gets me back again and cannot stop playing. I really am exited to see more is being developed, and hope for more planes to fill the career gaps here and there...good luck on Phase 4 Nuff said, of my soapbox and into the air! Cheers, trebb.
