  1. Remembrance Day

To my my brothers of another mother: Happy Veteran's Day! And a good Rememberence Day http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_poCV_15xIQ  CL
  2. USMC/USCG Mid-Air off of CA Coast

A sad week for Naval Air. The T-34 loss off of Corpus was enough to bum me out. I keep thinking about the day we lost 2 P-3s in a collision for how many airman with gold wings we can lose in a day. CL
  3. An "Exploding Cigar" would be nice. I wouldn't complain about the horse power. CL
  4. Something About My Son

I was med evaced off the boat for cancer. My helo went down on a PMCF. The new guy that replaced me didn't make it. CL
  5. I'm not the FAC but I bet there is gobs of targets for SPAD, Sandy, Hobo, Zorro, Able Dog, and flying dump truck drivers to jabber about A-1 stuff. Nimrod, Nomad, and Black Pony Drivers are invited too. CL
  6. I believe the BT2D was designed for Olympic. I hope nobody snivels for a hell diver for this op. OK, our Japanese brothers need targets too. Decoys? If only they used beasts for drones in Korea and all here had an F6F in our yard. CL
  7. With ADs, F7Fs, F8Fs, and perhaps some PBJs to be delivered to a land base? CL
  8. Any chance for a Me-109Z Zwilling, a pair of Me-109Fs joined by a central wing and tail plane extension, with the right cockpit faired over to carry extra fuel. A production version, based on the Me-109G, would have carried five 30mm MG 108 cannons or up to 1,102 pounds of bombs. Well Doggies! 3 would be plenty. The beuty of the Zwilling is that it was 2 109s linked together. The F-82 Twin Mustang was an all new aircraft. CL
  9. If thats the day I think it was, I was on the Oly watching the Midway get blue water over the bow. when the front of the boat got out of the water they would punch 2 F-4s off the bow cats and spot 2 more on the cats while the bow was "wet". I believe that was also in the Sea of Japan. CL
  10. Air France Flight Missing

Wow! That almost looks ...ah too intact. Accept for the fact it is no longer connected to the rest of the plane tho. Tim updated his analysis? I'll have to check it out. CL
  11. oldie but goodie

He should be grateful. At least he spent the last 20 years sleeping with his wife and living free in the economy. Good joke tho. CL
  12. I got offered a job by the RAAF

You have to complete high school to be an aviator there? In USAnia you have to have a 4 year college degree and at least be a Senators favorite nephew. Well maybe back in 1985. Considering the process I don't want to jinx you by congratulating you to soon. I keep thinking about the song Career Oppurtunties by the Clash evertime you post about your path. Good choice on your part. I've no clue on what the RAAF or brother branches have for mustang programs there. Good luck. CL
  13. Air France Flight Missing

Here comes the "fun" part boys and girls: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,525326,00.html I hope all those involved in the recovery have strong family and friends on the beech. CL

    You Bet! CL
  15. I remember when we would get a bird just freshened up by NARF. We would just barely get our squadron number on the bird and we'd have to pull the masking tape off for the squadron war paint and get it on spot 3 to fly. We also had to remove all the squadron specific warpaint before we would send a bird to NARF. We had a hanger queen from HS-2 that had the big American flag on the side painted over. Every time we started to remove it the cold war got warmer and we'd fly the snot out that bird. I don't think we ever got one side done before I left or it went to NARF. CL
  16. The new Bacardi commericial....

Awesome find. Thats up there with the King Of The Hill theme song by the Refreshments. CL
  17. I got alot of Shinto going on in my grey cells but this doesn't seem conducive to a long campaign. I can see some value for AI units tho. CL
  18. Any news on this project? Looking at the picture I'm thinking some of the squadrons birds would be without a fuselage band. CL

Wow. I just found this. CL
  20. Remembering D-DAY

Some radio stations played the speeches by FDR, Ike, and others. Very nice. The scene in Band of Brothers where they load up in the C-47 for the day keeps looping between my ears. CL
  21. If your name is Jimmy....

Ouch! The making of is at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHSFZQKBtDY Despite the padding, I did detect the pathetic wimper of an actor that experianced a new and real pain that he could not imagine. Hey Gruppe. Think with your dipstick. CL
  22. You go Devil Dog! Incremental incrementalism? We have 3 Skyraider makers. 2 Bronco makers. Both off those add ons are way better because of the multiple sources creating them. Interestingly, I never percieved any competition or conflicts either. If that synergy still applies, multiple Scooter builders will build better multiple Scooters. CL
