Could this be our next COIN fighter?
charlielima replied to charlielima's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Oh no! You're not suggesting the Monsanto Phoscheck Weapon are you? CL -
I'm not suggesting outsourcing, but these little brutes have a usefull load of 8790lbs / 3987kgs. Check them out at: http://airtractor.com/Default.aspx?p=8723 They come one seat or two and floats even. I could see chasing the gomers like rats across the tundra driving one of these in coin grey, green lizard or desert warpaint gunned up, and some of our favorite ordinance on hardpoints. Well Doggies! CL

Oh Great! I hope this doesn't put me on some DOJ / DHS or what list. I just want to shoot the guns and drop the bombs from the computer sim airplane  CL -
A-1E over Vietnam, Part II
charlielima replied to Corktip_14's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
I stand corrected then. No kidding? I thought they where just gull grey USN AD-5s with the Navy modex and markings painted over and US Air Force and later Republic of Vietnam Air Force stuff painted on. My misperception was probably reinforced by the stock Bernie Fisher skin that comes with the ride. There was probably alot of resentment in the US Air Force with all the Navy designs they had to use, so I can see them painting thier A-1Es a differnt grey. Good thing I'm just the picky poster and not one of the crack super skinners painting my 3 favorite airplanes. I've been a SPAD freek since the mid 60s when I saw one on final approach to our local NAS. I'm Stoked that the guys painting my ride know more about painting my ride then I do. Every body can acquire knowledge but not every body can be the expert. That and Its funner to be the student then the teacher. Thanks Cedric and Mike. Good thing I lost my A-1E and T-28D model in a move. I painted them both Gull Grey. I'll paint my next project COIN grey instead of Gull Grey. CL -
A-1E over Vietnam, Part II
charlielima replied to Corktip_14's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Splendid! One of my all time heros Bernie Fisher ( http://skyraider.org/skyassn/fisher/fishermoh.htm ) gets wingmen. "VNAF grey" ? Hmm? I bet dollars to donuts a bunch of AD-5 / AD-5N drivers and crews of the late 50s would be surprised to hear that. No Flamage, and as always,5 stars, and a night heckler please. Thanks gobs Cedric! CL -
Oh yah! The Wagsled interview /history realy turns my screws for the following reasons: 1. High speed but not wreckless. 2. At the pointed end of the spear. 3. Indian stuff: The crooked arrow, not illustrated but evident, is the crooked path you take in life to get were you are. CL

A Deuce huh? I'd rather drive mud movers but air defence interceptors aren't all bad. CL -
Hey Gruppe and Mods, is anybody else having problems down loading the good stuff from this site? I keep getting shot down for just a small skin file here but I'm still able to download a 6 meg + file from another site. This is my prefered site. I'm not trying to state or hint that there is a better site then this. I just want my CA back. Thanks ALL. CL

I'd rather ride a mule then a racehorse. This is one hostile herbivore: "A couple from Montana were out riding on the range, he with his rifle and she (fortunately) with her camera. Their dogs always followed them, but on this occasion a Mountain Lion decided that he wanted to stalk the dogs (you'll see the dogs in the background watching). Very, very bad decision. The hunter got off the mule with his rifle and decided to shoot in the air to scare away the lion, but before he could get off a shot the lion charged in and decided he wanted a piece of those dogs. With that, the mule took off and decided HE wanted a piece of that lion. That's when all hell broke loose for the lion. As the lion approached the dogs, the mule snatched him up by the tail and started whirling him around. Banging its head on the ground on every pass. Then he dropped it, stomped on it and held it to the ground by the throat. The mule then got down on his knees and bit the thing all over a couple of dozen times to make sure it was dead, then whipped it into the air again, walked back over to the couple (that were stunned in silence) and stood there ready to continue his ride as if nothing had just happened" author unknown. CL

Where do I find the T-28 ?
charlielima replied to charlielima's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Ahh Sierra! I thought it was complete. I didn't think it was in WIP status. I should of posted this as the T-28C status check question. CL -
Oh Yah. F-51s, AU / F4Us, ADs, A(B?)-26s, and bitchin F-82 twin mustangs. But Props in South East Asia: A-1 Skyraiders (SPADS) . T-28 Trojans, P2V Neptunes. WV / EC-121 Connies, OV-10 Broncos. AC-47, AC-119, and AC-130s. None where easily replaced by jets. I'm shooting in the dark here but I'll bet a bottle of a delightfull adult beverage that US Navy Skyraiders got more A2A kills then the A-7s that replaced them. Ground fire? Yah the SPADS got shredded. CL

My Dad and Uncle where both Naval Aviators and went to see the movie at the theatre when it first came out. My Dad with my mom. Uncle with a delightful date, perhaps my future Aunt then. All other details aside, at the end of the movie when the CAG asks "Where do we get these men", My Mom says at least 2/3 of the audience stood up and proudley yelled "Pensacola Florida" at the top of thier lungs. She still does it today. CL

Not makin' this up...

Impressive! Not all of us can make ace in a day. Especially I. Not even a BDA today! CL -
Wow, I fought the cold war with the bloom county group. Morale wise, it was a force multipliare. It was a long dawn out tragedy tho. The cruise basselopes of project rosebud were defanged and sold off at local DRMOs with no record of thier whereabouts. Spock Jock was lost on a bad jump off Grenada. This and concressionaly mandated social changes left us confused. We had to reflect on what our real role or worth was. Bill the Cat is broken but available on E- Bay. Does any body know what happend to the Interpoop? CL

Its Government wide USAFMTL. I could take your post, drop a couple of sentences, change a handfull of words, and it would be true for the US Forest Service's Fire Program. I think Its all caused by the massive change (or lack of) vision by the executive branch of goverment in the last 20 years. Robin Olds is one of the most visually impressive people on God Green Earth. One of the few people who sticks out in a gaggle of folks all dressed up like him. Not a jet pilot but what about this choice? Link @ http://skyraider.org/skyassn/fisher/fishermoh.htm  CL

Skyray pit WIP
charlielima replied to Julhelm's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I've been sniveling for this ride since the second time I logged onto this site. Incredibly bitchin' cockpit and I think the pilots legs in the pit are SH. I hate criticing modders but here it comes. My dad flew P2Vs and my uncle flew willy victors in the early to mid 60s. My dad wore an orange zoom bag and my uncle wore a khaki / tan one. the flight boots where a suede tan leather with 6 or 8 inch tops. I wore them almost every day to school. Lt dad only wore them one weekend a month driving the P2V or R5D in the reserves. His stories are better then mine tho. After the suede leather flight boots / boondockers Naval Aviators wore a polished brown flight boot. Gold wings + adult beverages = the rest of the Navy are black shoes. I'm not advocating that we go feet dry over indian country dressed like a pumkin but I'd like to see you get a 100% on your project instead of a 99.5%. 2 shots of Naval Aviators of that time period. Thanks gobs for the FORD. V/R CL -
Oooh Yah! Brunettes are a dime a dozen but priceless. F-4s, attractive durable women with guns or zoom bags? I'm moving. This is a no brainer. CL

Hey Gruppe, I just moved. I can't find my SH official looking nametag I had for my flight jacket and sage green zoombags 20 years ago. I found a site but they only do them on black leather and don't have Navy Aircrew Wings. We either had gold ink on brown or something bitchin embroidered in Japan or the Phillipines. At the watering hole someone called BS on me when I told him what our aircrew shops' GTH/protest nametag was so I wore that one on my jacket the next session and did not switch it back. I had a bad feeling about that. Anybody know any vendors? I bet gobs of other folk here have a similar snivel. Thanks Gruppe! CL
-
Correct. If I am not I'm probably tight roping on being off topic. What a change tho. We have moved from women being in support roles, nose art and pinups to weapons systems operators and other tactical roles. I like the bawidamann site. Were else can you get a female image with a BAR. Great photos of the real women in uniform posted on this site. I hope this thread stays toward the top without me irritating the group. CL

Thanks Gruppe Got 2 good links: http://www.nametags4u.com/catagories.html http://www.planecrazyent.com/military-patc...le-nametags.htm Brown or Black Leather,or embroidered. All branches. Non aviation devices also too. CL
