Carrier Lights

Yet I doubt they turned ships into aircraft objects. Fubar512, please quit teasing us with all your stuff, thats's cruel. Just like droping a sausage right in front of a hungry dog yet out of reach because of the lash. -
Building new airbases
Tannethal replied to ST0RM's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Two basic ways: 1. The Amordave one Lod for everything approach as done with Korat 2. building it out of stock or custom objects ones via target.ini placement. Without Gepards airfield objects it wouldn't have been possible for me to recreate Ubon, NKP or DaNang now WiP. Since we're at it, Gepard do you still remember the dimensions of the Factory place baseplates? -

KB rest assured that object placement will be a lot more easy and straightforward than before. Swambast is working hard on his STT, a converter that reads target.ini files and creates scn files for use in Flight simulator scenery creator. Then all objects can be easily manipulated, new ones added and the result easily converted back for use in TW sims. There was a preview thread on that too. S! -

331KB: That's the most usefull anouncement of 3d objects for terrain builders. Base Equipment besides that powerchart and bombtrailer thing is a most welcome addition. And besides this ASE, the corps ammo dump could use some stockpiles too. Paid a visit and review. Ubon took me two years, NKP just three months, and this one ..... -
Steel fury:kharkov 1942 is a very good sim of the tanks itself and the tactical enviroment. Unless T-34vsTiger, which relies on scripted missions and ai behavior only, Kharkov1942s Ai tanks have brain and react to your actions instead of following a perscripted plan. Get Kharkov 1942 and you will be pleased.

AIM-120
Tannethal replied to Leidgenosse's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Not bad but as hinted already done. The stock thirdwire F-4F was meant to be a sidewinders only bird, because that's what the real one was. It's a challenge to surive campaigns in the stock one. Be sure to get the whole F4F package and ravenclaws skins for them too. They work like charm and have correct avionics and weapon selections already build in. S! -
For AC-130A Gunshpis, There is PASKOS mod available, then there is my mod of paskos for the Surprise package config and there is a Mod of Paskos with the 105mm Howitzer available too. Although if memory serves me correctly the 105mm was only mounted on the AC-130E and up. S! -
Rocket pods and TER rack mounts
Tannethal replied to MigHound's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Remember a Rocketpods on TER fake too for the F-4B, was part of comrpnt VMFA-531 Mission Packs. Basiacally uses the TER Lod as Fueltank and set up three additional stations as RP, that matched the coordinates of the TER. Gameswise a TER/MER can't hold RPs, TK's decision. S! -

senior moment Bomb Type
Tannethal replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Try adding a valid nation as indicated for the Bomb in weapondata.ini Via loadout ini it's possible to load weapons with weaponclasses that aren't specified on stations or exceed load/diameter limits on this very station but i pressume at least the attachment type must match. Example is the attack loadout for the ODS F/A-18: One can't load lasermavs manually but they will get loaded via the loadout.ini. Same for the strike loadout of 4 MK83 on dualbombrack, you can't load that manually but strike tasked aircraft will get loaded with them. Hope that helps. -
WOV Essentials
Tannethal replied to Viggen's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yep Malibus campaign addons are a must have. Definately a great improvement over the stock ones. One can always stubstitude some of the stock planes for better ones, especially the MF Crusaders come to mind. Actually quite straightforward, look at the air unit entires and there si sometimes the correct plane sugessted. Just change for the apropriate addon plane find a matching skin for the squad and you are of Flying C / D / E crusaders. One could also substitude the stock F-105 for amordaves ones, better looking. If you intend on starting a career based at Ubon, shameless plug look for my Ubon airbase replacement. One could also add my NKP mod too. but you will rarely see that place in campaign play. Amordaves excellent RTAFB Korat works also in WoV, parts of it reside in the jungle of greenhell2 but it's well worth it. -

The Spectre is coming...
Tannethal replied to Dels's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Gunship guns were a fixed affair until the U version came with the 25mm GAU Whatever, that one was trainable. Not so sure what newer versions have in petto. But trainable guns considerably free the gunship of their fixed attack profile of prolonged left banking turn. However the gunships are fully packed with a lot of avionics that do offset calulations for aimpoint bringing in relation a target tracked by one of the sensors, guns balistics and the flight parameters. In the old gunships the aimpoint was displayed on the sight picture and the pilot maneuvered to bring in coincidence the aimpoint and the fixed sight. Gamewise the guns will be fixed and the sight too. AI wise my Spectre edits always dove headlong onto the target and blasted away sideways happily. Haven't found a value to get the sideway offset into the CPUMind of the AI. One can address depression for strafing but no yaw. S! -
Flight of the Intruder
Tannethal replied to Stratos's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
On exterior shots the copilot is there just not with you in the pit so to speak. Fastcargos original concept for F-111 cockpit with visible copilot http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showt...\&st=0 on Page two some hints how to do it for the Stock Thirdwire A6A and a fix for that dark tinted glass on the stock pit. Also hints for the A6A from Monty and it's derivates such as A-6B; EA-6A or A-6E Tram (DS Mod might have done that already) S! There is also a RWR for stock A6A around, replaces the clock with a three ring display. -

DS Mod Goodies
Tannethal replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
First of ALL Thank You, Thank You, Thank You. This mod raised the bar for campaigns. Started to have fun with The FA-18A from VFA86. Some oddities happened when loaded the Birds a bit different. See Pic. Seems that's caused by some wrong entries in the Data.ini: My changes are in bold, //are just coments For sake of cleanliness removed CBU from AllowedWeaponClass as it's not needed Anyone knows if AGM-65E s could be carried on TLRs by the A Hornet? Many thanks again to all involved. S! -
WOV - Target Object Placement Interface Tool WIP
Tannethal replied to swambast's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Although Swambast briefed me on the features to expect, this is freaking amazing! Cool thing with the macro selection for different stuff and most of all a painless reimport. Bye bye editor and wasting a hour trying to get the commas sorted. Many thanks for your work.
