Swedish Campaign (The Scandinavian Front)
JonathanRL replied to JonathanRL's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
- All Skins converted from BMP to JPG. This will make the game flow better and reduce loading time. - Veltros Catalina & Mainstay restored. - Mainstay more common in Midvintermörker Campaign - Su 25 Loadout fixed - Robot 15 turned into Crusie Missile so it can be shot down. If you download this to patch your current TSF Installation, you must delete your previous mod folder for your system to benefit from the BMP/JPG conversion. http://combatace.com/files/file/12979-the-scandinavian-front-mega-package-part-1/ http://combatace.com/files/file/12980-the-scandinavian-front-mega-package-part-2/ Go get it! -

Converting to Jpeg Format for Skins
JonathanRL replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Right. Using this program now. Its easy to maintain as a Gripen. Going to convert all TSF files, then check size and preformance. -
I don't like it at all !

Two new projects

The 3D Software shot did not do the Interceptor justice. Looks good in flight. Can´t wait to see it skinned :) -
That is actually quite interesting. I will however wait for a while and see before rendering judgement. But they went the correct route as I see it. How does the average desktop look? Any change over what we are used to?

I have enough of this BS
JonathanRL replied to Stary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I admit that when I am up for serious flying, turning all the knobs and such, I start up my DCS Modules. That is actually a rare occurrence, if you compare to how often I just turn on TSF or SF2: NA to fly a short mission or four. There is a time and place for checklists and pressing six buttons to arm the guns. While I too follow DCS World with interest, I doubt it will rival SF2 in my book in regards to flying hours. -
2-Flight AJ-37 suffers birdstrike and have to emergency land at War Airfield David. The video is from a movie, but yet it shows how it was done once upon a time...

http://bbs.thirdwire.com/phpBB3w/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9254 Regarding TK and Kickstarter, I just suggested it. I do however he might just be too old fashioned to accept the idea. Also, I feel there might just not be enough players of his games around to actually make it work. -
The Pacific Incident

A Patch 1.2 will probably be released when Cliff11 releases his new FMs. I tested one of them five minutes ago, and the result was nasty. I had three of them on my tail within a minute, something that has never happened before. -

http://www.nationaldefensemagazine.org/archive/2005/January/Pages/air_forces5899.aspx Well, it seems not even USAF: Air Dominance could avoid having a F-4 in it. However, from the description, it seems like the SF engine was a good choice for them. I am also curious about some of the features SZ describes. -
SAAB Viggen Emergency Landing Video
JonathanRL replied to JonathanRL's topic in Military and General Aviation
The Silver Viggens was their opposition for the training exercise, and was sent home when the mission was aborted. -

Sorry Allen, but I flatly decided against it. The point is that the player is not supposed to know what they are facing ;-) -

Not for a Swedish Air Force pilot. It was expected, and the aircraft designed around it. -

Right, patch 1.1 included in package that I just sent for approval. - Made the Nimitz slightly easier to spot for the Opposition. - Added more of the Opposition. - Added Geos Enemy Pilot - Added Wrenchs Skins suitable for the occasion. Rivet counters, have a field day. - Removed parking spaces from hidden airstrips, so no more Intruders in the middle of the ocean. To include these changes, you have to RE-DOWNLOAD THE ENTIRE; GIGANTIC; 15 MB PACKAGE! The horror, indeed! -

The Pacific Incident Mod for SF2: North Atlantic IMPORTANT: This mod is made with some surprise in mind. If you do not wish to be spoiled, do not read the Credits (Under the Folder "SPOILER") until after you have played the mod. Also, you should refrain from observing the support thread as this is the official discussion thread with spoilers At the first of August, 1980, the USS Nimitz departs from Pearl Harbour with a small escort group. As bad weather looms on the horizon, the escorts are detached and sent back to Pearl. As the Nimitz sails head first into the storm, they discover a phenomena - a giant vortex - that nobody have ever seen before. It affects the crew, and the ship in a mysterious way. As the crew wakes up, shaken and disturbed by the recent event, they know that their duty is to defend the United States in the past, present and the future... Installation: Unzip into your Saved Games\ThirdWire\StrikeFighters2 NorthAtlantic folder. Allow any overwrites. Please note: The Terrain is very unoptimized since TK did not leave any instructions for Stary. As such, even the heaviest computers can have some issues with the endless water (for some reason). Setting Terrain Detail and Terrain Texture to Low will fix this and allow good FPS. Enjoy! -

Ooops, Atari. Minor oversight. I might put together a patch tomorrow and I will add that to the list. Another oversight is that the Corsair is not preforming its secondary roles. -

Great. Everybody is here for the Polka Hint. Play the Campaign and find out if your guess is correct instead of sitting in a finnish bar listening to Polka Covers! Aw, who am I kidding. SKÅL! -

SF2 Realism Mod
JonathanRL replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I can help with Campaign Edits I can also help as a Beta Tester. Some of the brainstorming about what might be done to Campaigns in order to make them more realistic: Adjust Campaigns to any new / edited terrain we may enter into this thing. Update old campaigns with new scripts (SF2: NA Standard). Fine tune the flow of Supply, reinforcements etc. -

I am sorry, but we could not fit in the Comm Building. It would cost too much! I could not resist... Honestly, Dan. To me, it is not hate and negativity that makes us say the things we do. We honestly care about SF, and we want to see it evolve. We are still here, we still play it, we still mod it, we still buy the new games. But it would be good to at least see some sign that TK had a vision for the series. -

I think FastCargo has a point when he says we are a minority. Even with the major modding sites combined, we are a rather small number purchasing his games, too few to make it viable. So there simply must be quite a few people who rarely visit CA and still play, probably without mods. To this end, I actually asked him to put up a poll in the subject:
