SF2E: TSF: Operation Isbjörn
JonathanRL replied to JonathanRL's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
If you had checked the big, flashy text in the file, you would have seen this is stand-alone. ;-) Hence, you need only to download this and not any of the other files ;-) In fact, having the old files removed would prob help... -

Major changes include: * Completly rewritten ground war * Air Attack strategy now reflects Swedens military objectives during the Cold War * New Aircraft (Tunnan versions mostly, but also Pauls J-33 Venom) * A cleanup of the Swedish Air Force divisions. * More variety in enemy aircraft, including MiG-19s and Tu-4 Bombers. -

Unless one of my Beta testers find something critical, we can expect 1.2 in less then 24 hours. #hype -
Question in topic: For the ground war, I want to place an attack route for the Soviet Advance, so I can also place a defence accordingly. However, progress is slow, since I have to google the location of each city and see where it is on the map, meaning the ground war feels a tad limited. Is there a way I can put the cities location on the map some way? Would help out alot if I could just do that...

Is there a way to see Cities placed on the map?

Thanks, Wrench. Exactly what I am looking for :) Hopefully, this will make the target placement and the ground war overall a little more.. connected :D -

In Sweden? Not at all. In Sweden, a Veteran is often seen as a dumb brick, an idiot who loves to kill, a rambo-wannabe whos only purpose in life is to waste tax payer dollars by being in the military. The older generation, who endured the constription usually have alot more understanding, but even then, few understands why anyone volentary would want to go to a foreign land and do their duty. Of course, once they mate a name for themselfs, some of them are proud over their accomplishments, but even in Kosovo, there where harsh words over "Shootbat". Soldiers in uniform can also expect to be held accountable for US Foreign Policy. Why? Because we are in Afganistan. There is no respect for the men and women who have chosen the role as defenders. To thank a soldier for serving is seen as an oddity. Worse yet is the military and the goverments lack of support. Do you know it was only a few years back the Goverment and the Military activly started supporting veterans after leaving Veterans of Kongo, Gaza, Cyprus, Kosovo and Afganistan to fend for themselfs? Most of the work was done by small, volentary organisations. We completly lacked a veteran policy and I dare not guess how many shaken up veterans who have suffered because of it. We finally got a Veterans day, but it remains largely ignored. (Yes, I know I copy-pasted this alot, but there have been three different threads about it and I think its very important :P) -

You, Sir, Wins two Internet. I would actually dismiss that. I work part time for a political party, and there is a very interesting trend for people to complain on sites like this when they are not pleased. If they are pleased, they just tell their friends they are pleased and rarely write reviews. When they see the metacritic score is low, they add their part to make it lower to show their dissatisfaction.

I started MW3 Campaign today at a local Internet café at 09.30. I stopped playing at 14.50. I had completed the Single Player Campaign. The story is decent at best (I am still very fond of Soap and Price tought!), there is nothing new to gameplay and the game gave me headache and eyestrain (a biproduct of the Console port - I forgot what its called, but it narrows down the view. Not a problem if you are far away from the screen, and a PC gamer never is.) Boy am I glad I did not buy it!!! I will keep playing Battlefield 3 tought. I love that game!

Swedish Campaign (The Scandinavian Front)
JonathanRL replied to JonathanRL's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
So you wanted to attack an harbour ? Defences are laid out in three layers. This applies to the navy. 1: Berkut Battery (if avalible. I think there is just six of them on the entire map !) 2: Flack Batteries. 3: AAA Fire. And you got bombs and rockets. And maybe even Fighters. Ouch. -
After serious consideration, heavy mathematics and alot other calculations, I have but one answer! In short: The Euro will be getting cheaper.

*sighs* When I say "Done", I never seem to mean it. I am by no means a perfectionist - quite the opposite considering some of the shortcuts I have taken but... Having dug myself into Swedish military tactics of the era, I found out that the role of the Strike Aircrafts was to target soviet navy assets. This was due to the simple fact that if there was nothing to escort the convoy ships, the navy could easily finish off any task forces. As such, I have made some changes in the latest build. Most of the stationary, inactive destroyers have been turned into active, point defence patrol boats. They defend Riga Class Frigates and Cargo Ships. And that is the primary target of the Strike Packages. Conventional Anti-Ship missions have - however - been scrapped alltogether. I always tough deep strikes into the soviet union was not really something the Swedish Air Force should do - nor have capacity to do even based out of Finland. The finer points can be debated, but the Navy is the primary target. This also means that when you destroyed a Soviet Naval Asset, its gone for good (if I understood the lines in the target types correctly). It means that the campaign will be more challenging for strike missions at first, and easier as you blow yourself trough the Soviet Navy. I have also taken myself some liberties. There will be SAMs (Berkuts), but theese will be carried by a surfaced Whiskey Class Submarine. While not the best decision avalible, I felt it was a mix of James Bond and the kind of Jury Rig solutions a war sometimes creates. I would like your opinion on this matter. -
Mercenarys get sabotaged?
JonathanRL replied to Spectre_USA's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Could it be a hardpoint glitch? Ground Object sometimes have "misfires", making their weapons backfire on them. Its a glitch casued when the missile hits the object its launched from. -

*teases* A 21R is the A-Team model, so if you have that one, you can fly with it. It is however - sadly - not included in the package. J 28 Vampire requires Expansion Pack 1 for SF1 as you know. But that is the final airplane list if you have everything. -

I hope its more like Raven Shield and less like Vegas. However, judging from the trailer, id say its a new GRAW. And that might not be all bad...
