  1. I have installed a new Mig-23 such as Gepards Mig-23mk and other aircraft in the newest patched WOE. When I fly it, it flies sideways with the cockpit view. Does anyone know of a fix? I looked in the knowlege base and no luck. Thanks,
  2. Well, first I would not be too hasty to change the data file. The Mirage factory is well known for doing a good job. I am happy with the Mig-23 datafile and I flew a Mig-17 in aerobatics at the old Jeffco airport in Colorado, but to each their own...and there could of course be better newer data files out there. However, Gephard made a Mig-23MK and posted in at combatace to modern experimental aircraft section. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=6655 You could try that. Secondly, I know that Starfighter2 is working on a new datafile. You could ask him for it. Thirdly, I believe that there are newer Mig23s with newer data files posted in the cold war Russian fighters section at Combatace. For whether Thirdwire's graphical models are good for all models, I have not checked into that. That is a good question. Maybe someone else can answer better than me. I figure that for me it is not so important because in air-air combat, a Flogger is pretty distinctive at dogfight distances almost no matter what single-seat model it is...but that's me. Now the cockpit however...you live with that right in front of you for your whole flight.
  3. Hi, if you want it loosely, it can be used on all variants. However, more historically, it can only be used on mid to late Mig-23s. Early variants apparently (please someone correct me with photos, hard evidence, etc. if I am wrong), had a radar scope on the instrument panel. The early variants with the radar scope in general according to one source seem to be: 'MiG-23S' ("'Flogger-A'"). 'MiG-23SM' 'MiG-23MF' ("'Flogger-B'"). 'MiG-23MP'("'Flogger-E'"). 'MiG-23M' 'MiG-23MS'("'Very first Flogger-G's"). 'MiG-23P' http://tripatlas.com/Mikoyan-Gurevich_MiG-23 I am currently working on an early cockpit if Starfighter2, Lindr2 will make the HUD. Directions to add this cockpit to other floggers: 1) Just change the name of the three files to your new flogger: MiG-23ML_cockpit.ini MiG-23ML.ini MiG-23ML.ini Example. Let's say you are going to use a Mig-23MS. So rename MiG-23ML_cockpit.ini to Mig-23MS_cockpit.ini. Do the same to the other two files, put the new cockpit in and you are done.
  4. Yes. If I can get Starfighter2 to make a HUD for the early Mig-23 which most likely had a radar scope on it then we will be in business. I know Starfighter 2 talked to me about it.

Mig-23ML cockpit (Version 1.1) made by Richard "Pitts2A" Ordway, Starfighter2, lindr2. For SFP1 series. For Mirage Factory Mig-23ML. You need avionics 70 and the latest patch updates from Thirdwire. Tested on Windows XP and not Vista. However it might work on Vista too. This is the Mig-23ML cockpit in a Russian dark green color (from color photos of a Mig-23ML-look at the color photo in the folder) and modded to the Mig-23ML standard from Armourdave and Sal's Mig-23 grey-colored cockpit. I repainted it and added some details, placards, new switches and instruments from color photos. According to Nele, some airframes of the ML did have the SPS-141 onboard ecm jammer. Starfighter, with massive help from Lindr2, made the brilliant, indispensible Mig-23 ML-specific HUD while I (and most of the community) had hit a brick wall trying to make an accurate Mig-23 HUD work. They also made the new avionics.ini and cockpit.ini. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HISTORY: The Mig-23ML had a big event on 27 September 1987. It is not much contested that in a wide-ranging dogfight one of two Mig-23MLs hit one of two maneuvering SAAF Mirage F.1s with a R-23R AA missile in air-to air combat and that the Mirage never landed safely. The two Mig-23MLs did land safely. Both sides apparently were ground controlled. So the SAAF (South African Air Force) Mirage F.1 never made it safely back because of air-air combat damage. It crashed on attempting to land and was totaled to never fly again. To me that is a kill, but to each their own. http://www.acig.org/artman/publish/article_184.shtml One can conclude that in actual air-air combat against a well trained enemy, the Mig-23ML proved it was historically capable of killing another maneuvering fighter without losses. The Mig-23 had some advantages over other fighters. It's acceleration was reputed to be outstanding even by today's standards. It could unusually hug the ground and fly at high speeds for long times unlike most other fighters which would almost break apart due to turbulence. For its time it also had an incredible climb rate. Finally, it was an extremely short takeoff and landing aircraft in case of nuclear war with its swing-wings. It was also the Soviet's first swing-wing fighter and designed for BVR (beyond visual range) combat. Just pop it in and overwrite when asked...back it up as always. I personally strongly recommend it for getting an accurate feel of the Mig-23ML according to the published reports I have researched...but its not for beginners. Thanks to Starfighter2, lindr2 for the Mig-23ML HUD which has stymied modelers until now that I know of. Incredible milestone! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Version 1.1- I made several realistic changes and brought it up to the M version's acccuracy standard. I made the directions more clear thanks to user feedback. There are sharp differences between the early and late cockpits such as instrument location, RADAR and gunsight. V1.3- I added knobs under the warning panels and gave the option for Nele's accurate Mig-23ML flight model. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ CREDITS: Thanks to Armour Dave and Sal for the cockpit. Thanks to the Mirage factory for the Mig-23ML downloadable as a pack from combatace in the pack called Mirage Factory MiG-23 "Flogger" Series. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=5211 If I forgot anyone, I appologize and please tell me.
  6. Thanks this is very useful. Perhaps, I can repaint a Mig-21 cockpit, get rid of the pitot tube sticking out front and Starfighter can make a HUD...if indeed the early Mig-23s had much of one.
  7. Yes Starfighter! Thank you. I am assimilating them and currenty testing them for robustness. :)
  8. Before we all go off and start changing our work, in my opinion, this must be like published data please in mainstream science. What evidence do you have to say all this? Otherwise this becomes myth, propaganda and urban legend like some mainstream science issues which in my experience is severely leading the US and the world down the wrong path on some potentially life changing issues (I was in mainstream science for 12 years). Right now, all we have (except for Starfighter's superb input), in my opinion, is conflicting statements that could be based on hearsay and theresay and not evidence. Sorry to be blunt, but you see my point.
  9. You mean the early Mig-23 cockpit had a radar screen half way down the instrument panel?
  10. Hi Brain or anyone, What changes would you suggest to make it an earlier version Mig-23M/MF cockpit? Maybe we can release both. Thanks,
  11. That is awesome Starfighter! Tell me when you have finished with the Mig-23 HUD and we can connect your HUD to my cockpit and we will have a Mig-23 on fire!
  12. Thanks, Gulp! Those vertical brackets are looking more important all the time. Now, the first photo, unless it is blurred, looks like a different generation HUD then the later ones. It seems to be missing the vertical bars.
  13. Okay, I got a variation of Gerhard's MIG-23 HUD working on this cockpit. Thanks to Jarhead for the suggestion. RADAR MISSILE DISPLAY CCIP The HUD displays are missing the two veritcal side bars in Gerhards HUD. Anyone got suggestions on how to make them appear?
  14. Don't worry about it! Just get better!
  15. New modded F-102A Cockpit was uploaded. It is based on (EDIT Pasko's) F-106 cockpit with rounded gages being used instead of tapes, no moving map and other graphical changes. Several color photos were used as a base.
  16. File Name: F-102A Delta Dagger Cockpit (Field Modified) V.5 File Submitter: ordway File Submitted: 14 Apr 2009 File Updated: 27 Apr 2009 File Category: Jet Cockpits This is a field-modified Convair F-102A Delta Dagger cockpit for Veltro2k's beautiful F-102A based on Pasko's F-106 stunning cockpit. It has been modified over time by crews in the field as newer equipment came in and older equipment broke down and needed to be replaced. Apparently historically after time, almost no two F-102A cockpits had the same equipment in the same places as the others. This is based on Pasko's beautiful later Convair F-106A Delta Dart Cockpit. Tape gages were eliminated. Round gages were added. The moving map was removed and the radar display was changed and made a historically correct orange. The radar hood was made into a F-102A version. Lots of other detail work done was from actual color cockpit photos. It is much "greyer" and simpler than the later F-106A cockpit. The F-102A was actually involved in air-air combat in Viet Nam while on a B-52 escort mission. One F-102A was shot down in ambush by a Mig 21 with an Atoll missile on 3 February 1968 according to the ACIG website. Another F-102A shot several Hughes AIM-4 falcon missiles at a Mig-21 but the results were not seen. According to the ACIG website, a Turkish F-102A was in combat against Greek F-5s with shootdowns and other combats reported in July 1974. http://s188567700.online.de/CMS/index.php?...14&Itemid=1 Thanks to Pasko for his fantastic F-106 cockpit included in the complete later F-106A Delta Dart that you can download at CombatAce. If I forgot anyone, I appologize and please tell me. I finished this cockpit about a year before the Veltro2k F-102A was released and I lost track of things. Apparently some USAAF Viet Nam pilots jury-rigged a mini-gun into the F-102 for some extra buzz. Version History: V.2 You can now see the wing tips and wing tanks from the cockpit...thanks for Lexx_luthor's suggestion Thanks to Dave to point out the goof I made that it was Pasko's F-106 cockpit and not Dave's that I based the model on. V.3 Added to the bottom right instrument panel: 1) an AC voltmeter and 2) a master warning test and reset switch which some photos show and 3) more detail to the warning light panel as per color cockpit photos making it even more different than the standard F-106 cockpit. V.4 Added the huge signature F-102A red nav indicator light to the middle of the panel. Changed the colors of the artificial horizon to F-102 specific colors and markings. Changed the colors of the Radio direction instrument to F-102 specific colors and markings. This is probably the final version. V.5 I now included the very specific F-102A artificial horizon this time with gray-blue top, gray markings, black bottom with blue markings which I left out in V.4 by mistake. If you compared the photo with the current F-102A artificial horizon, you can probably see the difference. A visual thread showing these additions: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=39881 Instructions: 1-Backup your files! 2- Unzip the F-102 cockpit to ...SFP1ObjectsAircraftF-102A. 3-When prompted, overwrite the files. Enjoy! NOT FOR PAYWARE USE IN ANY WAY Click here to download this file
  17. I made an error in my cockpit file for V.4 and forgot to include the F-102A artificial horizon-it's just the old F-106 one now in the old version V.4. I just updated it and included it in the new version 5 (V.5). V.5 I now included the very specific F-102A artificial horizon this time with gray-blue top, gray markings, black bottom with blue markings which I left out in V.4 by mistake. If you compared the photo with the current F-102A artificial horizon, you can probably see the difference.

  19. Wow thanks Lexx_Luthor, good job! This adds a nice airplane into the missing gaps section.
  20. Yes, keeping it might be good. I wonder what would have happened if a Warsaw Pact (WP) Nato central front campaign had opened and some F-102s were present? F-102s would have inevitably been tangling with WP fighters and there would have been immediate pressure like in Viet Nam to add a gun. Apparently, the F-106's 20MM was added without much problem to the F-106. F-4s in Viet Nam got the 20MM pods pretty fast too. With the actual ad hoc unofficial F-102 having at least a SUU-11/A minigun added in Viet Nam (according to at least one photo), I bet if a central front had stalemated long enough, pilots would have been tempted to add a gun real fast.
  21. Bermuda Triangle

Well, when I grew up in Virgina, two of my parents friends disappeared without a trace on their yacht in the Bermuda Triangle. Really nasty for the poor kids who were left behind...maybe a rogue wave? The sea was never safe. When I flew by small charter aircraft (Aero commander) to the Island of Eleuthera in the 1970s, the pilot told me that their magnetic compasses sometimes became unreliable in the area...magnetic rocks or something in the area. Well, if the discovery channel ever publishes their famous methane-sinking ship by negative buoyancy experiments in peer-reviewed journals, that would be interesting. Personally, I think there are probably natural reasons for the Bermuda Triangle issues. I was in the scientific field for 12 years and still think there are things out there that we don't understand or can detect yet. I know mainstream science is still playing with gravity force problems which don't make sense such as why it is such a weak force, if I understand correctly.
  22. Version V4 is now uploaded and probably my final one. I added the huge signature red/orange Nav light in the middle of the F-102 panel. I made the artificial horizon more F-102A color and markings specific. I made the radio nav instrument more F-102A color and markings specific. Enjoy!
