  1. AVG Skin Pack v1.1 - P-40B Tomahawk

    AVG Skinpack v1.1

    For P-40 Tomahawk by Wolf257

    Thanks to Wrench for sharing his superlative Template, and for the use of his new, improved ring-bead gunsight and cockpit.ini file. Cheers Wrench ;-)

    Thanks also to Wolf257 for his AVG camo pattern which forms the base colouring of this skin set.

    Decals, .ini edits and so forth by Baltika. There are a/c numbers, tailcodes and squadron markings for 100 of the AVG Tomahawks. Where possible I have tried to match these up with actual serial numbers, but the sources of information are often conflicting.

    What you get are three separate folders, one for each of the AVG Squadrons, "Adam & Eves," "Panda Bears" and "Hell's Angels." Just drop the the 1AVG, 2AVG and 3AVG folders into your Tomahawk folder and you should be good to go.

    There is also a folder called "AVGKills" which also goes into your Tomahawk folder. This contains kill markings for up to 50 kills. If your pilot has more than that you will need to start a new pilot to get them to show up.

    You may want to add the following entries to your SquadronList.ini - what, you don't already have them. . . ? ;-)

    Add to SquadronList, renumbering from the last in line:-

    [squadronxxx]
    Name=1AVG
    DisplayName=1st Sqdn AVG - "Adam & Eves" - Sqdn. Ldr. Robert Neale
    Nation=AVG

    [squadronxxx]
    Name=2AVG
    DisplayName=2nd Sqdn AVG - "Panda Bears" - Sqdn. Ldr. John Newkirk
    Nation=AVG

    [squadronxxx]
    Name=3AVG
    DisplayName=3rd Sqdn AVG - "Hell's Angels" - Sqdn. Ldr. Arvid Olson
    Nation=AVG

    Also, make sure your NATION.INI (in the /Flight folder) has the following entry - I'm not sure if this is stock with the upgraded Nations Pack, or Charles' WW2 Formations mod, but here it is just in case:=-

    [Nationxxx]
    Name=AVG
    DisplayName=American Volunteer Group
    Alignment=FRIENDLY
    PlayerFlyable=TRUE
    Mercenary=FALSE
    PilotNameList=NamesUS.lst
    RankList=RanksUSAF.lst
    CallsignList=CallsignsUS.lst
    Formation.Fighter=WW2USFighter
    Formation.Attack=WW2USMedBomber
    Formation.Bomber=WW2USBomber
    Formation.Transport=WW2USMedBomber
    Formation.Tank=USTank
    Formation.MobileAD=USAD
    PilotTrainingStandard=GOOD
    GenderRatio=0
    DebriefSuccessMusic=DebriefSuccess.wav
    DebriefFailMusic=DebriefFail.wav
    DebriefKilledMusic=DebriefKilled.wav
    SpeechFile=USAFSpeech.cat
    SpeechTextFile=USAFSpeechText.cat
    Medals=MedalsROC.ini
    MedalTextFile=MedalsROC.str

    I have also included a new Flying Tigers themed loading screen from a "collage" I found somewhere on the web. Drop it into your Tomahawk folder and edit the Tomahawk.ini file to include the following line, replacing the old one, if you want to use it:-

    LoadingScreen=FlyingTigersLoading.bmp

    Unfortunately I can't find my note of the name of the person who made this so I can't give proper credit. Sorry! It was freely available for d/l on a "fair use" basis, so I don't think I am breaching their intention by including it here. If you recognise it, please let me know and I will add a credit, or remove it if the originator so wishes.

    You will also see a Ring-bead sight .tga and cockpit .ini which were built by Wrench, and are gratefully included in this package. Here's the instructions from Wrench's original Readme:-

    ****************************************************

    = To Install Gunsight/Cockpit ini:

    Rename your original Tomahawk_COCKPIT.INI by renaming it somehing originnal, like "ori_Tomahawk_COCKPIT.INI"
    Drop the new "Ring-Bead_Sight.tga" into the cockpit folder.
    Drop the new "Tomahawk_COCKPIT.INI" into the main Tomahawk folder.
    You're done. This will give you a nice, standard fixed sight (done in black, with a gold aim bead). It might take a little getting used to, but it's much more historically accurate, as the reflector sights didn't appear until the D model.

    As usual, I can be reached at the emal below, or on the SimHQ, Colum5 or CombatAce message boards. With thanks to Wolf for creating this bird, and to everyone else who has expanded our gaming experience into other times and places!

    Enjoy!

    That's all folks!

    Any problems, questions, complaints about these skins, you can get me at combatace. I am a fully signed up member of the "Fair Use" modding agreement at combatace, so feel free to modify these as you wish. Credit where it's due (remember the original template is by Wrench, The) and no payware, but otherwise these are fair game.

    Burma Air War 1942 campaign coming soon. . .

    Cheers,

  2. AVG Killmarkings

    AVG Skin Pack for P-40 Tomahawk

    AVG Killmarkings

    by Baltika

    These are for use with the "AVG Skin Pack for P-40 Tomahawk" previously uploaded. Killmarks got left out of the original upload by mistake, sorry!

    Just drop the AVGKills folder into your Objects/Aircraft/Tomahawk folder and you are all set.

    Kill marks for up to 50 kills, so if your pilot has more than that you will need to start a new pilot to get them to show up.

  3. Iceland 2015

    Iceland 2015 v0.1 beta

    for Wings Over Europe

    by Baltika

    with thanks to Gepard for illuminating the path

    This is a beta preview of my Iceland 2015 terrain which is in the early stages of development.

    Installation is as simple as dropping the Iceland folder into your WoE/Terrain folder, and selecting "Iceland 2015" from the terrain list.

    This terrain is usable in SFP1 & WoV, but you will need to edit the CatFile= flag in the Iceland.ini file to point to the correct terrain Catfile for the version of the game you are running. You will also need a Germany_CE replacement tileset. Brain32's is excellent, with treemod by CA_Stary, and you can get it here:-

    http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=6192

    In fact, I recommend installing Brain32's tileset even if you are running WoE.

    Just drop the tileset into your Iceland folder, and go fly.

    Please be advised this is an early beta release, for preview and feedback purposes only. Single missions will run, and there are flyable airbases for Red and Blue sides.

    But, there are a number of glaringly obvious tiling issues, and be very careful about using Alt+N as you are likely to crash into the side of a fjord somewhere.
    For some reason, Blue side anti-ship missions tend not to work properly.
    Also, non-airfield target areas are completely unpopulated, so don't go looking for lots of stuff to blow up, as it just ain't there, yet. . .

    Now, if someone wants to tell me the easy way to create a new tileset from scratch, I'd be delighted ;-) The topography of Iceland is wonderfully varied, from Glaciers to Volcanic Lava flows, from pure blue crystal springs to beaches of black sand, and from barren craggy rocks to verdant pasture. Just now it all looks a bit, well, green and boring. My early efforts at creating terrain tiles are amateurish to say the least. Ho-hum, back to the drawing board. . .

    As ever, feedback, suggestions and requests are most welcome. You can get me at combatace.

    Tally-ho!

    Oh yeah, this mod is released as freeware, you can mod it to your heart's content, and re-release for the benefit of the community. Credit should be given to the original developer, i.e. me ;-)

    You are NOT permitted to use this in any payware package, OK?

  4. 303 (Kosciusko) Sqdn RAF Hurricane Mk 1

    *****************************************************

    303 (Kosciusko) Sqdn RAF

    Skin for A-team Hurricane Mk 1

    *****************************************************

    Credits:-

    Original Hurricane 1 skin by Gramps
    303 Sqdn crest .tga by Gramps
    RAF squadron code typeface is T. Horvath's RAF_WW2_851ATH, available from simmerspaintshop.com

    303 Squadron Numbers, Tail numbers and kill marking .tgas, .ini edits and BoB Campaign 303 Sqdn Screens by Baltika.

    *****************************************************

    INSTALLATION

    Unzip to temp folder.

    Drop contents of unzipped folder into your BoB install, maintaining the file structure. It should be obvious where everything has to go.

    To enable 303 Sqdn skin for campaign use, open BoB_data.ini campaign file, scroll down to [AirUnit002] and change the "DefaultTexture=" flag to read:-

    DefaultTexture=303

    I recommend creating a new pilot to start a fresh campaign using this skin, as the kill markings run from 0-30 kills. If you use an existing pilot you are likely to have a lot more kills on record so the kill markings won't show up.

    To use the included campaign screens, open the BoB.ini campaign file, scroll down to [RAFUnit002] and make the following edits:-

    CampaignBaseScreen=BoBBaseScreen303Sqdn.bmp
    CampaignEndWinScreen=BoBWinner303Sqdn.bmp
    CampaignEndLoseScreen=BoBLoser303Sqdn.bmp

    *****************************************************

    That's it. Go fly, and rack up kills ;-)

  5. WW2 RAF Speech Pack v1.0

    WW2 RAF Speech Pack v1.0
    Compiled by baltika

    Courtesy of Microprose's European Air War
    and Jane's WW2 Fighters

    Thanks to Deuces for his Wingman Sound Mod which inspired the bandit calls in this mod.

    Installation:-

    Contents of "Speech" folder go into your Strike Fighters/Speech folder, overwriting existing files.

    SPEECHSYSTEM.INI file goes in your SF/Flight Folder.

    Backup your Speech folder first if you think you might want to go back to your Yankee wingmen ;-)

    Known issues:-

    There are a few anomalies, as exact matches for every phrase were not available.

    In particular, wind direction and heading calls are borked in this mod. Instead, you get Jane's wonderfully bad-tempered Control Tower telling you to get a move on and clear the runway. This may sound odd when you are coming in to land, but just imagine he's chewing someone else out to let you belly-flop your badly shot-up Spit onto the main runway.

    Also, TK's call-sign system is incredibly detailed and could not be re-created properly with the resources available. If Top Hat Control (none of your Red Crown nonsense here) answers Red One by calling him Victoria Leader, I'm afraid you'll just have to live with it. Or, you could start recording all 140 call signs in six different but appropriately accented voices. Then name the resulting files accordingly to fit into TK's scheme. If you think it's worth the effort ;-)

    And do Fence Check, Rifle and Shotgun belong in WW2? If so, what do they mean?
    Come to think of it, what do they mean anyway?

    As ever, feedback, bug-reports, suggestions welcome.

    I'll be lurking around at combatace.

    Tally-ho, chaps! Jerry at nine o'clock low! Let's get those blighters!
