  1. Yea I'm confiden tthe frame hit was the number of a/c and the LOD file used. I was just curious if it could be done and what would happen. The airfields are just way to sterile as is.

  3. I think that's the way to go. This example ofcourse was using the game's a/c. I'm sure that's why it hit frames so hard. So some static models, lower polycount and two state...intact and destroyed might open some new strike possibilities as well as bring the bases to life.
  4. Static a/c is possible. Just did a quick attempt and it needs some tweakin, the F100's are sunk down a bit....I obviously got carried away as you can see it's a huge framerate hit. But it's pretty easy to do.
  5. PC- This was a response from Digital Overlord to that very topic I asked about back in January and wing tip smoke Give it a try. D.O. wrote: "Set Wingtip Vortex Emitter to 0.0 G and it will be on the Whole Time Unless you pull -G's HasVortexEmmiter=TRUE VortexEmmiterName=ContrailEmitter VortexG=0.0 Or you Can Just add 2 Dud Engines Under the Engines and Change it to ExhuastEmmiter=ContrailEmmiter. or if you want you can make a TGA and Make your own emmiter and add it to the particle system.INI."
  6. I've gotten several emails and answered some posts to people who have had some problems with the Euro tiles and the patched version of the game. First off let me say that the cause of most of these problems is due to my haste in trying to get it updated as soon as the patched was released. I was not very clear with instructions and when the zips were created I didn't think about anyone extracting them with the "use folder names checked". Sorry I never use this feature and simply drag the stuff where I want it to go. I kinda like to see the files go in :) Sorry. JerseyD has offered to make an installer for me and that should help. Thanks JD! Anyway aside from making sure everything goes where it needs to go I would suggest you simply open winzip (or whatever you use), select all, and drag them into your .../terrain/deuces folder. The next thing that most be done, this is the biggest cause for problems, is you need to copy over your patched desert.cat file from your terrain/desert folder to your terrain/deuces folder. Delete your old deuces.cat and rename the new desert.cat to deuces.cat. I hope this helps anyone having problems and if you still need help, feel free to email me. I will answer them all.
  7. This is how your directory structure should look. The deuces security catalog is the copied desert security catalog renamed. Once you have it setup this way you will access the terrain in you dropdown menu in the game. If you still have problems, I will upload the self installer that JerseyD sent me when I get home tonight and you can use that.
  8. Not a bother Andy. When I refer to the desert.cat file, that is in fact the security catalog your seeing in the desert folder. That is the file you need to copy over and rename. Second. the campaign.zip was omitted from the euro zip...because...well I won't lie, I forgot it. JerseyD made an installer for the files but I have not uploaded it yet. In the meantime you can get the terrain in the campaign by doing this. Create a new folder in your strike fighters/campaign folder and call it Campaign2 Copy your campaign1.ini file from the Campaign1 folder to the Campaign2 folder Rename the ini to campaign2 Edit these lines to read: [CampaignData] CampaignName=Deuces (Fictional) <<--this can be any name you want DataFile=Campaign2_data.ini <<---make this change CampaignMap=DEUCES <<--make this change Service001=USAF Service002=USN Service003=USMC Service004=Merc leave the rest alone and you should be ready to go Hope this helps.
  9. I noticed you liked my main screen, at least I guess you do since it's on your site. So I figured I'd give you a nice clean one to add your patches and logos to Hope it's useful.
  10. Sorry for not including this in the zip. I kind of rushed it out to get the patched users up to date. And ummmmm the publishers forced me to release it early. Here's what you need to do: Create a new folder in your strike fighters/campaign folder and call it Campaign2 Copy your campaign1.ini file from the Campaign1 folder to the Campaign2 folder Rename the ini to campaign2 Edit these lines to read: [CampaignData] CampaignName=Deuces (Fictional) <<--this can be any name you want DataFile=Campaign2_data.ini <<---make this change CampaignMap=DEUCES <<--make this change Service001=USAF Service002=USN Service003=USMC Service004=Merc leave the rest alone and you should be ready to go.
  11. So far it seems that the Euro tileset plays well with the patch. One thing I did notice and just to give you guys a heads up. The patched desert.cat file is a bit larger than the unpatched. So I would suggest you copy over the new to your Deuces folder (providing your using the tiles) and rename it as usual. Please free free to email me if you have any issues. With the terrain that is a not the patch :D
  12. Hey Sal_, from one Flasher to another any chance at a copy of your Flash source file?
  13. Dirtman, He has all of the bases labeled and thier coord. Just click the targets button and zoom in. I think thats what your looking for.
  14. The mission planner is done by Sal_ I just happened to have the link.
  15. Want an easy way to setup your mission waypoints? Go here http://24.126.25.86/~webserver/mission_planner/
  16. Turn on the debug in you HUDData.ini Top line make DEBUG=TRUE
  17. Good point Dirtman. I'll see what I can find.
  18. Easy Keller....people might start talking :D Now lets consider something. Possibly a start... maybe nothing. Here's a little glimpse inside my head ..oh sorry thought I heard and echo. I was thinking one night that when you turn on the debug, you get coord's..nearest base...etc. This is text information that is pretty ugly in at the top of your screen. It's obviously pulling that info from somewhere. What if the text , well some of it, could be called, resized, even colored and displayed in the HUD. Kinda scary but completely useful no? Thoughts?
  19. Hey guys! Interesting post and something that I've pondered for awhile. Here's the dilemma. Obviously the planning map is just a bmp and not extremely accurate but close. Now the in flight map pulls from the actual tiles and gameworld loaded. So in order to see a grid, you would have to have it in the tileset. Now that would look like hell. At that point you'd havethe grid layed over you terrain and you wouldn't need the map... But I agree this is something that needs to be investigated. I'll play around w/ a few things. Oh Keller, different maps can be built but with out the terrain editor that is rumored to be released at some point, you would have to place the tiles one by one through a hex editor and I believe it's something like 250,000 tiles. Here's an image that might help some. I was bored one night a did it. http://dzeng.ecorp.net/files/planningmap_wbases.jpg
  20. Well lets hope this works. I've uploaded two zips for you guys to try. The first is a complete euro set from my patched ver. It's 13meg. To save all that have the euro already some d/l time, there is a lite ver. that has the files less the bmp's and tga's...just use the euro tiles you have.Let me know if this works. Now keep one thing in mind, if you have been having the trouble in campaign mode, the campaign.ini is different in the patched version. The squads have changed. Just copy over your campaign1.ini to a new Campaign2 folder (create it) and rename it campaign2.ini. Open it and modify this line CampaignMap=Desert to CampaignMap=Deuces. You can also name the campaignname line to whatever turns you on. Get the files here Full Eurov2 http://dzeng.ecorp.net/euro/sp1eurov2.zip Lite Eurov2 http://dzeng.ecorp.net/euro/sp1eurov2l.zip There is no readme in the lite, I assume you know what your doing by now :) Let me know how it works for you.[/url]
  21. Hmm. Well I'm a bit perplexed guys. I've flown 6 campaign missions and a dozen or so single missions without a hitch, but I'm not going to let that be the benchmark. So here's what I'll do. I'll repackage the set from my patched version and make it available for d/l. I hope this will help.
