Spectre, I thought the Israel terrain was v1.5? Hmm, whatever. Like he said, it comes down to whatever you want. And you can find pretty much everything here (even an Avrocar), from working cockpit mods to an Avrocar (of all things ) -
Flak in WOV
Sky Captain replied to Lt. James Cater's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I've actually been shot down by flak more times than by SAM's. Of course, I do like to fly down low to the deck (probably comes from watching Hollywood's version of flying too much ), where SAM sites can't get you for beans, whereas 300 feet and below seems to be Triple-A paradise. -
I'm not currently running one, but DOSbox is what I used. It looks to be the one with the widest range of supported games. If you know of one that supports Airpower, or the old Jetfighter games, I'd be much obliged.
-
Anyone here heard of Airpower? It was like the predecessor to Crimson Skies, with Airship based air forces and all. Great fun to play, but sadly no DOS emulator I've found can run it, and XP can't seem to run early 1990's games for beans.

Ah, so that's why any other plane cockpits are all placed weird if I use them. Neat technique! (So no paneling or details on the 'pit until later releases, then?) By the way, some screenies from my weapons testing: My best Ben Gannon impression... (Crappy terrain graphics ftw!) Truncheon Away! Impact! By the way, I found out that if your engines overheat and set off their fireworks show, throttling back to zero will prolong your doom long enough to remember where the eject button is. Edit: Oh, and does anyone know where to find some good, modern 'Red' fighters? I'd use the MiG-29, but anymore than 2 onscreen and my PC takes craps out.

Yeah, I think the wings should be tilted down a bit, but definitely not 12 degrees down. That looks somewhat silly IMO. About the body width: Comparing between top-down views of the Talon ingame and the schematics, I think the ingame jet looks fatter because it's curvy, where as the 'real'/movie version has a more angular look. (Btw, the nose looks to come to a well-rounded point, it seems like it should be more of a rounded rectangle) Heh, this might as well be a design feedback/input thread. Edit: Oh, almost forgot. Are the panels in the Cockpit_Blank folder just there for show, or can they be used with the Talon panel?

I sense some very good photoshopping... Oh well, looks cool either way.

USAF F/A-37 Talon Texture V1
Sky Captain replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Beautiful skin, Gramps! Downloading now. (Along with the Talon Alpha :P) -
I was playing Battle of Britain (you know, that old one from Empire Interactive) yesterday, andjust randomly out of the blue thought about what other older games others might still play. So, what are some 'classic' flight sims (or games in general) that you play? I myself like a good bout with some Air Pirates occasionally. (I have yet to see another arcadey flight sim that's equal to Crimson Skies - Except for maybe War Hawks, but that's still to be released)

As far as I know, all you need to do is go into the data.ini (look for the file that has MiG19S Data.ini), and at the very top it should have 'NationName=*nation here*.' Change whichever it is to 'Hungary,' and you should be set. All you'll need is to find a Hungarian skin (which I don't think exists yet) Edit: You'll have to extract the file from Objects'cat, if you're changing the default plane. If you're editing a 3rd party aircraft, it should already be there. Just download the SFP1E utility (Downloads > Strike Fighters/Wings Over Vietnam > SF Utilities/Editors > SFP1E File Extract Util [second Page]), install it, then open Objects.cat with it, and scroll down through the confused mess of files until you find 'MiG19S Data.ini.' That should be the file you need.

su-27 for download
Sky Captain replied to chrimagro's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I believe someone is (or was) working on one, forgot who, but hopefully it'll be released soon. Looks kick-@$$ too. -
From what I hear it's only possible with an incredulous knowledge of the force, and the ability to use it with Yoda-like precision, coupled with an exact series of button-mashing and window-breaking-with-$150-HOTAS's, and topped off with eating cookies and drinking OJ WITHOUT! dropping a single one of the crayons stacked on your head. You also absolutely cannot so much as peek at the actress of your choosing sitting on the couch-which-appeared-out-of-nowhere. Or, you could just carefully time moving the throttle forwards and tapping the thrust control keys. Personally, I prefer the former method. Bottomline, it's really really really really really hard. (If the WoV Harrier mods are anything like Wings Over Europe's Harriers)

No. If you like though, you have the option to install WoE into Wings Over Vietnam to make a merged install. SFP1/SFG is a standalone though, you don't have to uninstall anything, nor can you add it into WoV/WoE. Most of the stuff in SFP1/SFG should work fine with Wings Over Vietnam/Europe. Hope this helps, and welcome to the community!
