A comparison of F-15s
Sky Captain replied to streakeagle's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I have to say that the LOMAC pic (bottom one, right?) looks almost lifelike. The dip of the nose on the WOE version seems to be closer to the real thing, but the part of the leading edge that merges with the intake is a bit big. Yes, I'm nitpicky and go for the tiniest details. Edit: And the bump towards the rear is more pronounced on the WoE Eagle. -
dll failure (again)
Sky Captain replied to BOOM's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
If you download the latest weapons pack (it's on the first page of the SF addon weapons page), it automatically 'installs' the newest weapon and gun editors. Not to mention you get a nice inventory of weapons. -
New patches at Thirdwire.
Sky Captain replied to Aintry's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
No, it seems to work fine with the April version of DX. But just to make sure, you might want to install the very latest version. -
You CAN keep cycling you know. OR!... You can ask Red Crown nicely where your main target is, then push Ctrl-R (which targets whatever object was mentioned in the most recent radio transmission), and voila, there's your main target. Most of the time, though, all you need to do is target a ground object and it's your objective.

New patches at Thirdwire.
Sky Captain replied to Aintry's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Mine works fine. Except now the bombing range seems to incompatible with the newest patch. -
You can only order your wingman to attack a certain target (namely, the one you have selected). Select ground targets with 'E' & 'Shift+E', and air targets via 'T' and 'Shift+T'. Those are the basics (meaning the ones you'll use the most), but there are more you can find and assign in on the options page.

Joystick Dipping?
Sky Captain replied to Sky Captain's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Ah, thanks, it's 'fixed' now. On a sidenote, would anyone know why my ingame throttle reaches 100% when I still have the 'real' one at 65-75% of the way forward? -
Joystick Dipping?
Sky Captain replied to Sky Captain's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
To the center? You mean set the slider to the center ingame, or something/where else? I use an M$ Sidewinder Precision 2, by the way, with no software for it installed (mainly because I don't recall where I put the CD >_>) -
I couldn't think of any better word(s) to describe the little problem I've been having recently. Namely, whichever plane I'm currently flying (it does this with every aircraft) 'dips' to the right if I don't touch the controls. It's never done this till about a week ago, and nothing I do seems to help. I've tried recalibrating the joystick, reassigning the X and Y-Axis controls, but it still does it. It doesn't do this with any other game, so I'm assuming it's something in the game. Any ideas? (Edit: I'm probably sounding vague on this, but I haven't encountered something like this before, at least not in a long time)

Sparrows
Sky Captain replied to Capt.Scarlet's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
When you're in boresight mode the radar automatically locks on, you only have to do it manually in Search Mode. -
Sparrows
Sky Captain replied to Capt.Scarlet's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Sparrows are... Darn, forgot the term, but you can't be doing a whole lot of G's (as if you would while firing), not much more than 4 G's or so, I believe. Also, there's a 2-3 second delay before the missile lets loose, so wait for the 'thud' noise (or if you have a FFB, wait for the stick to do it's bumpy thing) before doing what else you need to do (which is, usually, trying to keep that teeny little dot centered on your scope). -
I kind of figured it worked without the expansion anyways once the campaign got underway. :P Thanks anyways, and great job on the campaign. Although I had a bit of trouble getting it going before I thought to install the Italian Pack (which I forgot to do after reinstalling the whole PF+AEP+FB kaboodle).

WoE/WoV/SF
Sky Captain replied to VF2_Sarge's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well, they are compatible, just in the sense that most of the files will work with each other (default and otherwise), but like USAFMTL said, they won't work with each other online. I think (using [my] logic), WoE should work with WoV online, & vise versa, seeing as how you can add Wings Over Europe to Wings Over Vietnam as an addon, but you'd have to ask someone who actually has it. -
The way I see it, dogfighting is becoming a thing of the past. Modern fighters can take out enemy aircraft from well beyond visual range, not much of a dogfight if you ask me; If technology keeps going the way it is, drones will be able to do that quite effectively in the future. Conventional (non-automated) ground attack and support aircraft will (IMO) last longer than conventional fighters.

Gramps Russian Speech Pack
Sky Captain replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Cool. It took a bit away from the immersion to be in the cockpit of a MiG and having everyone speak perfect english (darn KGB agents!)
