  2. its on the way I can't wait for it either as sick as it may sound, I also wanna Sandy to fly
  3. rgr that. During Desert Storm, Seals painted targets as well as USMC and US Army Spec Ops
  4. On Oct. 7, 2002 aircraft carriers (CVN-65 with VF-14 & CVN-70 with VF-213) launched long-range, heavy loaded F-14 and medium-range F/A-18 strike fighters day and night while the Air Force sent long-range bombers deep into Afghanistan. Targets were terrorist bases, weapons and vehicles, training camps and Taliban military units. Additionally, the attacks were placed as a front-line pace maker for the so called "Northern Alliance". This group of anti-Taliban Afghans moved from northern Afghanistan down south in their long lasting fight against the Taliban regime. As in any war, the attacks caused also civilian casualties among the Afghan population, but as far as it is known these were limited to a small number. On Oct. 9, 2002 VF-14 led the first long-range tactical air strike, flying over 1,700 miles round trip to Mazar-e Sharif, where Taliban aircraft were destroyed on the ground. Numerous strikes with precision guided ammunition followed from VF-14, VF-41, VF-102, VF-143, VF-211 and VF-213. Latest combat stats that are nonclass As for the first tactical long range strike, that is erroneous, as during DS B-52's flew from Barksdale AFB, 14,000 miles, to Iraq on the first nite of the war. They were refeuled 4 times on the way
  5. You are correct on the Cat's first kills, both which came from VF 41 Black Aces, thus making them the only squadron with air to air kills in the Cat, until Desert Storm, as mentioned, this kill came from one of two Cats flying in VF 1 Wolfpack squadron. This kill was made by the CO of the squadron
  6. Vietnam War The F-14 came to late for the Vietnam war and only one deployment about USS Enterprise (CVAN-65) with CVW-14 was made from 17 September 1974 to 20 May 1975. Even though VF-1 and VF-2 Tomcats flew combat air patrols over South Vietnam as part of Operation Frequent Wind, F-14s didn't score any MiG kill. The following squadrons belonged to Carrier Air Wing 14: VF-1 F-14A VF-2 F-14A VA-27 A-7E VA-97 A-7E VA-196 A-6A, KA-6D VAQ-137 EA-6B HS-2 SH-3D VAW-113 E-2B RVAH-12 RA-5C VQ-l Det 65 EA-3B On 29 April 1975, Commander Task Force 76 received the order to execute Operation Frequent Wind, the evacuation of U.S. personnel and Vietnamese who might suffer as a result of their past service to the allied effort. Later that day, many evacuees had been cleared from the U.S. Defense Attache Office and the U.S. Embassy. This aerial exodus was paralleled by an outgoing tide of junks, sampans, and small craft of all types bearing a large number of the fleeing population. On the afternoon of 30 April, Task Force 76 moved away from the coast. This ended the U.S. Navy's role in the 25-year American effort to aid the Republic of Vietnam in its fight for survival.
  7. just dont buy at wal mart
  8. Very true. Very true indeed, though I'd still like to fly one in the game. I have a 3d structural model I made with 3ds max, but I dont know how to apply proper values to the thrust and things like that for this game
  9. I have the structural 3D model, I just dont know how to assign values for thrust and the like. I have created this on 3ds max...only took me 2 months to get this far...lol
  10. Hey all, I asked about this at sim hq and got mixed feelings on the subject. Why not try to put the tomcat in this game? It was in service during the games era and flew CAP in vietnam. I have all the specs and technical data if anyone wants to give it a go. Please post your opinion on this The F-14 entered the fleet in 1973, replacing the F-4 Phantom II The game lets you fly a F-4b till 1975, even though the cat replaced this aircraft in 1973, fully phasing out the navy's use of this fine piece of machinery If we are going for realism then this is a must
  11. working fine now, If anyone else was there besides me
  12. USAF ---------- acronym for United States Air Farce lol A little inter-service rivalry Oh and thats the air force, not the Navy. We send the cats first
  13. true, but these other countries are not in the game, and aside from that Isreal took stock of 14 f14a in June of '74 so the theory of other nations interests in no good for the only arguement...IMHO And you are right, there are many nations that still use the F-4 as fighter/bombers to this day. Germany, Japan, Israel, Turkey to name a few F-14A First Fligth 21 Dec 1970 Wingspan (unswept) 64 ft 1.5 in Wingspan (swept) 38 ft 2.5 in Lenght 62 ft 8 in Height 16 ft Wing Area 565 sqft Empty Weight 40,104 pounds Max. 15. wingman humor Wingman In a flight, everyone but the flight leader. There's a division of authority between the flight leader and his wingmen: Flight leader 100%, Wingmen zero. Yet being a good wingman is demanding and is critical to the mission. The flight lead is like a dog walker with one or more dogs on leash. If you're a bad dog you can really mess up his walk
  16. anyone skinning this plane yet??
  17. Thanks for the help with the photos Ranger
  18. Pics are cool, but how can I add my own?
