  17. 50 years ago on Wednesday, the legendary pilot 1Lt Karl Richter was killed during a routine mission over Vietnam. On 21 September, 1966 the native from Holly, Michigan was the youngest fighter pilot to shoot down a MiG-17. His aircraft was this F-105D Thunderchief, 59-1466. He was my favorite pilot when I was a youngster. Lt Richter is pictured to right in the inset below.
  18. Something other than an F-4 Phantom. This time an F9F-2B Panther of VF-191 Satan's Kittens off the USS Princeton (CVA-37), circa 1951. This was the ship both my father and uncle served on-board during their time in the U.S. Navy off the coast of Korea.

  24. Another Phantom II, this time a QF-4N of VX-30. BuNo 153030. This is on of my MOST favorite aircraft. But then again...I was Marine, so here is an F-4J from VMFA-232 Red Devils, circa 1977.
