Why is everybody bugging out from SF series?
SkateZilla replied to FLOGGER23's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
What’s unclear? $39.99, Installs as a DCSW Module(s) Requires Lock On to be Installed on the System, or Flaming Cliffs 2, which requires LockOn to be installed too, so I dunno why they didnt just say LockOn. The Lockon Requirement is because Flaming Cliffs is Ubisoft's IP. You can Buy Lockon in the US from UbiStore for 9.99 and download it, or from online sites as low as $5.99, Do NOT buy used copies to avoid DRM/Licensing Issues. You DO NOT Need the Platinum Versions with FC2 or any of the FC Addons. Only the Original LoMAC installed/activated. 39.99 for 8 Planes with AFM, Non-Clickable Cockpits. About $4.99/Plane, or $6.24/Plane if you have to Buy LoMAC from Ubistore for $9.99 F-15C, A-10A, Su-27, Su-33, MiG-29A, MiG-29S, Su-25T, and Su-25, F-15C Campaign/Missions/DCSW Integration, Upgraded AFM for A2A Missiles, What do we get for 39.99 from TW? Flanker was awesome, but That doesn’t mean the Jet gets an Automatic “God Mode” Boost that people want it to have, So Far all of the screens are of the AI controlled Flanker vs Human Piloted F-15C, so that may not even be the new Flanker 3d Model in those screens (well it might be in the promo screens). The MIG-29 Models look Fantastic, as do other AI models in the screens. ED already said the F-15 was given special treatment for a reason. Who’s to say ED isn’t working on a AFM Study Level Flanker eventually/soon/now? -

Make sense... I'll prolly abuse the F-15s until Iris F-14 comes out. -

Because the size of the sun in EDs world is wrong, it's too big. But i dont think that's the answer you're looking for. Basically the now 70 Pages (?) of whining about FC3 makes DSCW/LoMAC look like they are having issues too, but the whining is mainly because the Western Fighters Look better, even though the weapons (Particularly the AIM120) is neutered. -

I bashed him because he's constantly showing off and braggin about Mods in Vids/Screenshots, but never releases any of the Mods. Everytime someone started a topic about something he'd reply withing a few hours with another Video showing off one of his mods. and some of the GFX in his Screens and Videos dont match some of the Standard SF/Thirdwire Stuff, So.... Im Skeptical, Until my F-16 has wing wobble and cool new features (minus STOVL and Carrier Ops) the Ingame "Mesh Editor" by itself would be monumental. -
i got 12 more years before that.. i dont wanna turn 30.. lol

SkateZilla replied to FLOGGER23's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
So here's the game plan, we all come up with new names... and bug TK .. lol… Back on Topic: From a End User POV: I still play SF2 when I have a few (30) minutes to an hour, or basically when I don't have time to run through the A-10s Start up sequence and radio everyone... I also "play" SF2 when I'm testing stuff, from 2000-2012, I dropped most Arcadish games I played for realistic ones, shooters, racers, and flight sims. So, it's not hating on SF2 Exclusively, I havent touched a Need for Speed Style Racing game in Ages, and refuse to play some of the arcade shooters. ('cept HALO1.2.3. and soon to be 4, just because of the story line) From a 3d Graphics Artist POV: Even without a DCS’s License/Help, Their Tools provide more info. It’s easier to build, preview and trouble shoot models in 3ds Max 2011/2012 and being able to view the model In the DCS Engine from within 3ds max using the Model Viewer Plugin. This Tool is also Useful for Skinners too. (no saving, closing everything, boot game, study model for problems, take screenshots, exit game, open 3ds max back up, open photoshop back up, etc etc.) With Thirdwire Titles, most of the Modding Knowledge Base was assembled by 3rd party guys here; TW hasn’t provided nearly any sort of help for 3rd parties in a while. Don’t get me wrong, they provided TONs of help in the early days and most of those guidelines and tips still apply to SF2, but the lack of details of the new engine features, and the locking away of files that we can use as examples to get a clearer picture on how things work simply hinders 3rd parties. 3rd Party Modders have brought new Features/Innovations to the Engine via Time, Edits and creative Thinking, only to have to re-do it or throw it away when the next patch locks out the ability to change that parameter. Ask yourself, would you want to spend hundreds of hours building something without any form of help, examples or guidelines from the developer on how to correctly import it into the engine. I ask a Question about the Engine on EDs Boards and I get a response w/ the Answer to my Question, from Nate, Wags, or another studio that has a license and knows the answer. I ask on TWs boards and all I get is the crickets noise. Even a Simple question like “what’s the max light shader per mesh”, and “if it’s possible to have the mesh name displayed on the debug HUD data block?”. A Simple Answer to both of those questions would take 1 minute to type, and TW would know the answers without having to dig through DLLs and code as it is their engine. Instead they repeatedly answer posts from new people that obviously don’t know what a search function is, that ask the same question that’s been asked and answered many times before. So like I said, who would want to develop 3rd party addons for a game when the developer doesn’t wanna help you? Im pretty sure by now, with all my posted Hate towards the subject, TW prolly sees my posts on their boards and pretty much says “eff you skate’ in their minds. I’m also not the only one that feels this way, obviously. -

I'd Use SF1 as a base to maintain MP, tear apart the DLLs, add in Specular and Bump Maps, create better shaders... I mean, DCS is still DX9 for cripes sake and looks tons better. -

I've always Ignored a Game's Internal "Controls Configuration" and just made profiles in the Controllers Software (for me it was SST when i had my X52, and is now CH Control Manager). That way i can make use of the 3 modes :) I think I downloaded my DCS A-10C Profile from the CH Hanger (i think). -

We're Bugging out because, when the Bath Salt/Spice Zombie Apocalypse Hits Full Force, Strike Fighters 2 Will NOT teach you how to fly an A-10C, or KA-50, or P-51D, etc. If teh Z.A. was to happen, I'd be happily making my way towards the closest Airforce Base w/ A-10Cs and flying off to a remote location. -

According to TW the Cats are locked because of the Piracy of his 3d Models and IP, which i understand. however, there is no real need to lock out the .fx files and LOD terrain files. Back in the WM Release and Retail Release, we figured everything out by analyzing TWs INIs and stuff, and got answers from TK himself. Fast Forward to 2012, we dont get answers from TK, and we cant analyze the new stuff to figure it out because it's locked away. -

Basically.. -Modders/Veteran Members are Being Shutout by Thirdwire via CATs becoming more and more locked, along with other features and lack of Documentation on the new “Engines”. -Instead of fixing a problem, TW Takes the Previously adjustable Parameter and Hard codes it to minimum Values to workaround the problem. -Modders/Veteran members ask TW a question on the TW boards, Modder Gets Ignored, but someone can ask the same stupid question about Exp3 or DLC Requests that have been asked 200x over already and TK Answers -Modders/Veteran members Reply to a Thread on the TW Board from someone asking for help, we are told off (some times offensively) with the excuse that “they asked TK/TW” TW then pretty much re-posts what we had already said. -Newer Users complaining that their laptops are having problems running the game on Med/High, We tell them to drop it to low, and they argue that they shouldn’t have to and that their $300 Value Laptop meets the minimum specs, TW Bows to them and hardcodes more GFX Intensive things, modders get shut out again. I can continue to list, but It'll look like I'm Bashing TW, and most of us already have that image already. -

open event Viewer as Admin (Start, Search, Event Viewer) cant remember if its Application or System, but the same error message would be logged, and you should be able to see the ENTIRE file Path to what its complaining about. Most Likely you said you restored from a Backup, which copies Files over, but does NOT register DLLs. Install the Game Fresh from the Installer EXEs, dont "Restore" it from a Backup Image. Also make Sure all Visual C++ Runtimes in Windows Update are installed. -
shoulda just called it Ace Combat or OverG Fighters.
