  1. Ok, I feel it's my civic duty to go against the crowd and display supreme indifference to your return. Meh. Mission accomplished.
  2. I think TK might be getting the impression some are expecting DCS: F-14 or LOMAC 3 or something. He's rightfully going to try and temper those expectations. However, I do think he's going to have added more major stuff to this release than any single release since (discounting FE) WOV when he added carrier ops. I'm sure it will still feel like SF2, but perhaps after all this time it will be more like SF2.5. If you remember the Unreal 2 and 2.5 engines, there wasn't a huge difference in the games made on them, it was subtle under-the-hood stuff that allowed better visuals to a small extent. I think that's what TK is doing here, something that on the surface will appear no different from any previous SF2x release, but as we use it and dig around we'll see lots of changes that may or may not affect the mods.
  3. Let's face it, it doesn't take 2 years to make a 3D model and a cockpit. It doesn't take that long to make a terrain. It doesn't take that long to make both. There's obviously a lot of behind-the-scenes work going on (over and above the "new terrain engine") on this, and until it comes out I don't think we'll know just how much.
  4. Battlefield 3

There's no bots for MP? Well, I'll never bother with it then. My best memories of BF42 and BFV were with the bots and humans.
  5. That's what's coming, a new game with a new (at least one) plane and a new terrain. The upcoming expansion will offer a new plane (Mirage F1) and maybe some other things. The DLC offers stuff that in the past would've been throwaways in a full game or expansion and likely half-ignored. Who'd notice a 9-equipped A-4 in a Mirage F1 addon for instance? There's no doubt it's not the system we learned simming on. I loved the Falcon 3 model. For full game price you got a full plane with a theater. For an addon price you got a new theater and a variation of the plane you had. Buy them all, merge them all, fly every plane in every theater. That's what TK did until recently when it became apparent he wasn't going to make enough the "standard" way. Remember, folks, TK isn't EA or Activision. He's not rolling in it. Besides, the games run fine without these anyway. You don't NEED them (although you could argue the campaign customizer and mission editor really help out).
  6. Battlefield 3

For me, the pinnacle of MP FPS games was MOHAA and RTCW and BF42. No "perks" no "unlocks" no crap. Everyone has access to the same stuff from minute 1 and all you get from playing longer is more hours played. I'm sick of games that reward the compulsive "no other game but this for several hours a day!" players and penalize those who buy a game a month or two after release and then play an hour or two a week. Frankly, I'd love new versions of those games, identical except for better graphics, to play MP. Oh, and they have to be solidly locked down so no one can hack them, too. The cheating is why I quit all those games, but it took months and sometimes a year or more back then for it to become a problem.
  7. For $3, I got it. Other than the mission editor, which as an exp 2 owner I didn't need, I've got them all. I'm looking at it as in investment in future released as much as flying the planes themselves. Not to say my goodwill knows no bounds. If exp 3 and/or NA are IMO serious missteps, I'll back out. For now, however, I've decided to go with it.
  8. Battlefield 3

So how many minutes is the SP campaign? Under 200?
  9. Weird Al posted a video on his Youtube channel where he filmed a chicken running across a road. As it does, he's yelling at it "Why??? WHY?!!?!?!"
  10. Popular AVIATION movies you've watched and liked!

    Iron Eagle IV?
  11. TK indicated if he has an MP title it might be closed to modding.
  12. The right time to eject

He came in REAL hot with too much descent fpm and the exhausts were full aft. Normally they slow way down and angle those things like 45 degrees down for a short landing. I don't know what the failure was because the gear and flaps were down as normal, so I wouldn't guess it was hydraulic failure. Perhaps some engine-related problem where the throttle was stuck?
  13. There are armed Tucanos elsewhere, it makes sense.
  14. There's a C-5A and a C-141A. I don't recall a C-17 anywhere.
  15. Naturally all of them don't own all the series, and I'm sure there's a good number that don't own even one but are perhaps waiting on the F-14, but that's still a good number.
  16. And you thought you knew what an FPS was like!

There comes a point when too much reality is undesirable...
  17. That's more a "recent patch issue" as opposed to those DLCs specifically. I already had the mission editor from SF2E's expansion and the campaign one for awhile now, but that started for me with the October patch. Not always though...
  18. I don't know if he knows how many of his customers solely interact with him via FB, but if it's even close to equal to the number who frequent our site or his, that would make it worth his while. I'm all for it, if only because it increases his exposure and the more who buy his games the better he does and the more new stuff it funds!
  19. New Guy!

Welcome! Hope you're not too sane, you might have problems understanding us. Mind if we call you Bruce? Might be some confusion if we don't. G'day, Bruce!
  20. Funny, I thought that idea had been floated and shot down when he started the DLC thing? Oh well, for those who don't have SF2E or do but didn't want the expansion for some odd reason...
  21. I've only done the official patches, and AFAIK you need to do them all ie 4.09m, 4.10m, 4.10.1m.
  22. I don't know, ICE is the ROF acronym, I don't know if TK knows that or not, but something tells me he'll skip it. However, to date every SF/SF2 release aside from the initial with the fictional terrain has been named for the geographic location, be it a nation or a continent. Therefore SF2: Iceland and SF2: North Atlantic make the most sense. If naval combat is going to be a feature of this, NA makes more sense as Iceland implies you don't go too far out from it.
  23. USA vs Russia

Reminds me of an old Yakov Smirnoff joke. In Russia we have saying: Women are like buses. That's it. Women are like buses.
  24. Polar Bear in a blizzard

  25. LCC-19 sounds like it. Oops, no. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Blue_Ridge_(LCC-19)
