IL-2 1946 UP 3 probem
JediMaster replied to Ngr's topic in IL-2 Series / Pacific Fighters / Cliffs of Dover: General Discussion
I run stock 4.10.1 in widescreen no problem, you just have to adjust the conf.ini manually as stated. -
Cool, I'm glad this is here.

He lived for like 7 years after he got cancer the first time, I guess it just kept coming back.

Wow, German helicopters. Rarely see those. -
DLC 12 is out F-8E(FN)
JediMaster replied to MigBuster's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Likewise, if you re-DL any of the DLC you'll find it's all sept-update level required for install. -
The 1998 one. I got it just for the Foo Fighters song and some others. There are only 2 songs from the "score" itself.

That was only in ST:TMP (nerd data alert!) Robert Wise, the director, wanted the deflector dish to indicate warp speed or not and this guy modeled that. At sublight speeds (leaving space dock and impulse power) it's "off" and yellow/orange. When it goes to warp, it lights up blue as it's on. The idea behind the deflector is what it sounds like---a force field in the shape of a cone in front of the ship, independent of shields, to deflect anything in space like dust or ice or whatever that at high speed would smash the front of the ship. You'll notice the warp engines light up blue at the same time because it's "at warp" at that time. This idea was followed faithfully in TMP aside from I think one scene where someone made a mistake and it was either blue when it was supposed to be yellow or vice versa, I forget which. This idea was then dropped in ST2 (you only see it orange in the footage reused from TMP) and every other film thru ST6 where it was just blue all the time, even if sitting still. Only when the ship was shutdown it would go dark, but the yellow was gone. Too much for them to deal with I guess. As for the music, I've been a fan of SF and some fantasy film soundtracks for over 30 years, since my uncle bought me the ESB soundtrack in 1980 on LP. I've owned the soundtracks to many of these films since before CDs were available, although others like Alien and Back to the Future I only bought recently with special editions. That's why my ear picks this stuff up so fast. My collection: All 6 Star Wars films All 11 Star Trek films plus several of the original series episodes All 4 Indiana Jones films The first 2 Jurassic Park films The first 3 Pirates of the Caribbean films All 3 Lord of the Rings Back to the Future Alien Aliens Armageddon Godzilla X Files 2001 Fantasia Superman E.T. Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind Stargate Dune Hunt For Red October Battlestar Galactica (new series) all seasons Some others I can't recall right now...

I built that model, it uh...doesn't look that good. However, I disagree with his music choices. It's the Enterprise from ST:TMP-ST3, but he uses the them from ST8 aka First Contact (a TNG film) and then he uses the "Enterprise leaves space dock" theme from the NEW ST and not TMP? This thing would've been a lot better if the theme from the opening credits of TMP was used first, followed by the leaving space dock music from TMP.

I still think the roundel should just be a red bullseye over Ghaddafi's shocked face. -
Quick question about tge KC-135
JediMaster replied to serverandenforcer's topic in Military and General Aviation
One thing is that if it had been truly external, the chance is high that you wouldn't have been able to reload anything...the drive would've been unusable. Low-level data on a drive isn't touched by a format, but an external mag wipe hits it just the same. Without that data, the BIOS/EFI can't talk to the HD. -
Well, I would say by definition that any airline still around today is a better airline. Actually, Pan Am went out of business twice. There was the main one, then a few years later they returned with limited service...and failed again.

Need Some Help...
JediMaster replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
So to be clear, the only issue is changing the wingmens' loadouts, not yours? I'll try testing that out myself to see if any other 3rd party planes suffer from that for me. -
Not sued per se, but IIRC the USG is responisble for compensation for damages. There was some treaty signed years ago that spells that out.

AFAIK, no one has detected a tachyon. Neutrinos are tricky, for a long time they were thought to be massless. If so, going FTL wouldn't be a big deal. They now believe they aren't, but are possibly the lightest particles that exist ie the only thing that weighs less are the massless ones. Anyway, Einstein's theory can be interpreted many ways. One way is to say that anything that is going the speed of light, c itself, that has mass would have to be everywhere. If there's no mass, it's not an issue. Another way is to say INFORMATION can't travel FTL, so there's no way to transmit knowledge of an event "through time" so someone would get a message before they actually saw them send it. I don't know that you could use neutrinos for communications, so I think it might be one of those things where it SEEMS to go FTL, but it has no practical implications because you can really only observe them, you can't USE them.

Perhaps that's why the retirement was only 2 years later.

Anybody Watching "Star Trek Voyager?"
JediMaster replied to ThePlainsman's topic in Star Trek Legacy
Since TOS was only 3 years, they peaked sooner. Honestly, though, Where No Man Has Gone Before wasn't a highlight of the show, nor was the Man Trap. I'd say the first half of S1 still had them finding their footing. They figured things out pretty well by the end of the season and you had some great eps like Space Seed and City/Forever. S2 was pure gold, with few missteps...and then came S3. While it still has some classics in there, it has a greater-than-expected share of missteps. It's still worth owning on BD, though. In fact, TOS is the only ST series I own...and I bought it twice (DVD sets about 10 years ago when they went full season box instead of "2 eps/disc" and now the BD). I've heard TNG is coming to BD, but as much as I like the show overall, S1 and S2 were pretty weak, so unless it's all 7 years at some awesome price (ie well below $200) I'm passing. -
I thought the one I saw had Vader saying "I've altered the original trilogy again".

Satellite to ground control... Satellite to anyone...

They're working on them, the problem is they only work for one right now. In other words, on a screen the size of the ones you see out there, maybe 30 people could see it? Outside the area where they sit the effect wouldn't work or it would be distorted or something. If you want to imagine how much THAT would cost per ticket...

I just can't understand WHY. I get why someone might not be able to kick the habit once they're addicted, that's not uncommon. These things seem a great solution for them. I just don't understand the reasoning behind the first time. "Hmmmm...should I have a snack? Something to drink? No! I've got it! I'll set dry stinking weeds wrapped in paper on fire and suck it into my mouth!" However, it's a great indicator. If you see someone today in college or younger smoking, you know they're an idiot. There's no excuse to start nowadays.

Thrust reversers let planes land where you might think they can't quite easily. As mentioned, though, taking back off is another issue entirely! -
Anybody Watching "Star Trek Voyager?"
JediMaster replied to ThePlainsman's topic in Star Trek Legacy
Having rewatched TOS on bluray and then TNG and DS9, I'm now on season 6 of Voyager. After that I'll watch Enterprise and my odyssey will be complete! I think it safe to say all the series had shaky first 1 or 2 years, then hit their stride.
