I can't believe they're staying out of the pedals market. This would've been a prime opportunity after skipping it for the Cougar.

Iranian AF to hold retro airshow?

It's a cold war no different from the one with the USSR. -
Flaming Cliffs 2. The most difficult.
JediMaster replied to MoonGoose's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
I never really played much Flanker, but I played a good bit of Flanker 2 and 2.5 until LOMAC came out. I've been flying LOMAC and its upgrades since release and I just wish they'd done more planes for it. DCS is a grade higher in complexity and realism, but I had no problem with the level LOMAC modeled. LOMAC has always suffered slowdowns over battlefields, I think it's the smoke from the various weapons and destroyed units largely followed by the units themselves. I know some missions I've played have a ton of friendly units at the airfield you start at and the going is a bit slow until you're away from there. The engine actually cares how many units are present in a given mission as well. You can sit at an empty airbase on the runway and have 2 totally different frame rates depending on whether there are lots of units miles away or the world is empty except for you. -
Anti Aircraft Laser unveiled at Farnborough
JediMaster replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in Military and General Aviation
Missile-jamming lasers already exist and are being deployed on some platforms. I forget exactly which are getting them. They merely attempt to blind or confuse the seeker head to prevent the missile from tracking, there's no destruction caused. -

That's the JF-17, the joint Chino-Pakistani plane. My guess is it's mostly in English because few Pakistanis will speak or read Chinese. -

I'll only be happy when DCS has every plane in it that I have in my modded SF games. -
Grandma??? Get out of that turret!!

I can understand wishing you were built differently, but I can't understand spending money and risking who knows what medical problems to actually CHANGE it.

Nice to see a good upclose pic of the JF-17 finally. Is that a Seahawk landing? I didn't know there were any still flying. -

The A-10C is the one coming out soon. I don't even know if the A-10A is still planned or not. -
This is how you get away with robbing the bank across the street from Comic Con.

I think everyone can agree Caddyshack 2 was lame.

It's fanless but not watercooled? I'm puzzled how they can make that work without resorting to very slow chips.

Come on...you know you want it......

Not sure about the delivery order, but we're supposedly only 5 yrs away from the A version IIRC. -
The equipment, yes. The employees, no.

did something change after the last patch?
JediMaster replied to Monty CZ's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Here's a question--if the AI get the same FM as the player at normal, do they also have the same dynamic conditions affecting it? In other words, your speed is affected by the amount of fuel you have and the weight and drag of your ordnance...does a slick plane with 25% fuel fly the same for the AI as a fully-laden one on take off? If the game engine discounts those variables' effects on the AI's FM, that could account for a lot of the difference. -
Teen Series Fighters
JediMaster replied to Slartibartfast's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well, I mean it could've been better, but not THAT MUCH better. Those numbers for the YF-17 are way too high, but I don't think they ever did any tests at full combat load to see what its range would've been. -
You don't know the power of the dark side. I must pay the installment for my Super Star Destroyer or have it repo'd! Of course, WTF is up with camo pants? Didn't have ONE pair of black pants?

Brit's make worlds strongest beer ($762 per bottle)

I would think at 55% alcohol you wouldn't notice the taste, but just the aftertaste. -
AHHHHHH! THE THUNDERBIRDS ARE COMMING
JediMaster replied to Skyviper's topic in Military and General Aviation
I think if you remove the pro-Navy/pro-USAF comments some have made you'll find most people rate them about the same. They don't do identical stuff because the planes are different, but the performances are comparable. That said, one shouldn't skip the T-birds because they've seen the Angels or vice versa, they do differ. -
I just watched Not the Messiah this week, the one-night-only performance at Royal Albert Hall of a semi-operatic adaptation of Life of Brian. Eric Idle was joined by brief apperances by Terry Jones, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin, Carol Cleveland, and Neil Innes. Only John Cleese was absent, which made me wonder about his current health.

It's all about the AB! Actually, in Falcon altitude matters as well. I climb up nice and high to get the fuel burn as low as I can when I'm in friendly territory.

Sounds like the guy is trying for a Christian Bale-as-Batman vibe there. Anyway, 2027 is a bit close in time for this stuff, but the game could still be good. This is just a cinematic, no gameplay, who knows what it will turn out like?

Super Hornet Going Silent?
JediMaster replied to Silverbolt's topic in Military and General Aviation
I don't know how Steve Jobs would feel about weaponizing the iPod. However, it would be useless because unless you held it just right the weapon's range would drop to almost nothing.
