Why so long for F-18's and F-16's to carry AGM-65
JediMaster replied to malibu43's topic in Military and General Aviation
Right, even the F-16Cs were never setup to carry them, they got the AIM-120 instead. -
Looking for realism in CoD??? *waves hand* This is not the game you're looking for. Move along.

As a devotee of Mr Spock, I fail to see how this will assist me. You are most illogical.

It feels like someone lifted the blinds and opened the windows, doesn't it?

I think it was designed by a chicken as revenge.

I don't know, I also find it kind of disturbing.

You do NOT want to be the one that's going to make her decide whether to give up on her marriage or not! That way lies pain.

JediMaster replied to column5's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I am to be flying like the Goose and the Maverick and the Iceman will be not saying things about me that are mean. The Libyans Migs are to be submarines now. -
How NF4+ Update Will Be Handled
JediMaster replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
So, should people read the readme, or is it purely there for decoration? -
Tell her it's fine if she brings her husband to you and HE tells you it's fine because he likes sheep or whatever. Otherwise, that's a minefield with legs!

No I didn't.

The biggest films of the past few years, Avatar and The Dark Knight, were well over 2 hours long. Of course, when films are shown with commercials they often get edited down so they'll fit. Remember in 2 hrs of TV they need to show 30 mins of commercials (watch any 2 hr TV movie or show on DVD and it's 90 mins). However, the director's cut of ST:TMP wasn't really any longer than the original because of editing. They shortened a couple of the more sedate scenes and the new stuff was largely replacement visual effects which didn't change the running time at all. Only a couple of scenes were added. It just seemed to be a better film, though, like the extended version of the Abyss.

Jane's Attack Squadron was an abomination that didn't deserve the name and was rightfully the final release. A real shame. Don't forget the 688i and Fleet Command naval sims that SCS did for them before making their own Dangerous Waters...and then giving up the biz.
-
Well, "Jane's Fighters" was never a game title. There were several games named similar to that, so I'm not sure which it refers to. The first was Navy Fighters. Then came the add-on USMC Fighters. The 2nd full game was ATF I think, with NATO Fighters being the add-on...might have been the other way around, I don't remember. Those were all pre-Win95 versions of the game, ran in DOS. Then came USNF '97 which was a Win95-compatible remake of USNF with the addition of Vietnam, having F4s and MiG-21s. Later came Jane's Fighter Anthology, which was bascially USNF 97 with all the planes and theaters from the previous games added into it. Then came Jane's Israeli Air Force, later USAF Fighters and WWII Fighters.

Yeah, it is nicer than the theatrical, which is why the Bluray was such a letdown.

What color do the MSgts have it in?

SF2: Tomcat Speculation
JediMaster replied to column5's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
You may not care about the terrain in a given title, but each has aircraft unique to it. SF2I gives you the F-16 for example. -
Bah, I'm nothing in the annals of ST fandom. I don't own any of the seasons of TNG, DS9, Voyager, or Enterprise! In fact, I've been renting and rewatching those series for what is in most cases only my 2nd time seeing them ever after their original airing 10, 15, or 20 years ago!

It's easy to tell which F-15 SE, macelena. If everything was featureless and enemy planes were wireframe triangles, it was F-15SE1. If it had VGA graphics (used F-19's engine), featured the Iran and Iraq theaters (corresponding to Desert Storm), and had a simplified damage model where every hit you took would ONLY take out engine thrust, no loss of radar or weapons or HUD, it was F-15SE 2. If it had coop MP that let you fly either front seat/back seat or 2 planes and was actually fairly realistic for its time, sort of like LOMAC, 2nd only to the Falcon series, it was F-15 SE 3. Jane's F-15 was more or less F-15 SE4 as it was the same team working for Origin/EA instead of MPS. I loved it, but the elimination of coop MP and only stupid H2H was disappointing. That said, it was the flight sim that convinced me to trade in my Voodoo 1 for a Voodoo 2 as it REALLY improved the fps.

I could've voted for more than 1, but I decided to pick the one I spent the most time with, F-19. I don't know if it was the greatest, because it had a LOT of shortcomings that later sims were able to avoid or do better on. I may not have spent the most time overall on it because I only played it from 1989-1992 or so when the dated graphics and simplified realism made it obsolete. It also didn't have MP, which some of my best simming moments have occurred during. However, I will say that in those 3 years I played it I spent more time with it than any other sim in its first 3 years of ownership! I also have very few negative memories associated with it. There were shortcomings, but nothing that made you want to throw the computer across the room (I'm looking at you Falcon 3!!)

Help ThirdWire!
JediMaster replied to column5's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The only things I didn't buy there were the ones I bought on CD...which so far is everything! Not one thing have I skipped so far...not much else I can do, really. Well, I guess I could buy it as a gift for someone else, but when it's a digital DL I've only seen how to do that on Steam. -
My daughter is 21 months and she's well into her terrible two's!
