There is a time compress key that will take it up to 8x, but I forget what it is. No skip to next waypoint. -

Well, to be honest Samsung has a far better rep than Westinghouse. -
How do I get SF2 Vietnam running on my Vista SP2?
JediMaster replied to stingray77's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You must install with admin rights, but you should run the game without admin rights just fine. You shouldn't need to fiddle with folder permissions anywhere. It's possible there's a different reason for your issues than permissions...do you have the latest drivers for your video and sound? -
crosshair problem

I forget which the command is, either Shift-F1 or Ctrl-F1 (as I have it mapped to my stick), but it will shift you in your seat and center the pipper in those planes. The actual cockpits had the sites off-center for improved visibility when NOT in combat. During the (relatively) brief times the pilot was in combat trying to shoot a plane down, he had to lean to the right slightly. -
Well it certainly looks like an Akula, but I wouldn't know a Charlie if it ran me over. Perhaps Pakistan is unaware that a nuke-powered vessel is not a nuclear armed vessel by definition!

I think it has more to do with the smirk he's got on his face ruining the shot than anything else!

What surprises me is when I was in college, I never saw this sort of extreme leftist/anti soldier sentiment. I went to college right after the 1st Gulf War, and Clinton was elected my 2nd year, but it just wasn't very political then. It's almost like the 60s again now, where every student or recent graduate thinks THEY have the answer to the world's problems. I didn't know anyone in my graduating class who thought that about ANY topic!

He just means that it may take MORE than 1 day to fully dry if it's cold or humid.

Now F-35 is in a bit of trouble
JediMaster replied to Julhelm's topic in Military and General Aviation
I've never been a fan of the chin-intake designs, personally. Not A-7, F-8, F-86D, or the X-32. Realizing at the 11th hour that they need a tail and being a pure delta wouldn't cut it for carrier ops really hurt them I think. -

JediMaster replied to stingray77's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
That procedure was more necessary for the original SFP1 sims through WOI under vista. Starting with SF2 TW's sims are "vista friendly" and are designed so after install you don't need admin rights to mod. As for modding SF2, check the knowledge base for the full details. -
How do I get SF2 Vietnam running on my Vista SP2?
JediMaster replied to stingray77's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Sounds like you got the install procedure overly complicated. Delete the game and all those folders first. Then just run the installer and let it install to the default location (..prog files\thirdwire\etc...) Run the game and set up your things like resolution and sounds and whatever. Exit and you'll find an SF2 directory was created for you by the game in your user's profile and THAT'S where the mods will go. The game itself SHOULD be in the program files directory, but all mods go under your profile. -

I think it's the \ key? I just do it by reflex, I don't really think about it, so I'm not totally certain. -
Generally I always did a lot of the detail painting first, where feasible, because it was easier that way. Then you do the large-scale painting after assembly.

Didn't the USN change its bomb construction so the bombs would burn but not explode? Hence USN mk5x bombs have 2 stripes on them instead of the 1 USAF types have?

I'm not running SF2 on Vista, just XP, just I can assure you TIR 4 works beautifully with it. -
Why isn't the AIM-120 used much?
JediMaster replied to JG7_X_MAN's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
A bigger missile that isn't fired is a bigger waste of fuel/payload. You also can't carry as many. An F-15 can carry 8 AMRAAMs if it wants, but only 4 AIM-7s. No Hornet could carry more than 2 Sparrows IIRC. Internal stealthy carriage of a Sparrow could never happen. They could have conceivably replaced the AIM-54 with an uprated Sparrow, but the AMRAAM wasn't just meant to replace the Sparrow but to do more and go where the Sparrow couldn't--like on Harriers. Also, if bigger weapons are always superior, why do all American jets use 20mm cannon and not 30mm like the Russian jets? The Russians thought 100-150 rounds of 30mm was enough, while US jets always had 500+ rnds of 20mm. -

Resistance is no MMO, there aren't any MMOs for consoles. Generally MMO implies "$$ per month", although Guild Wars didn't charge.

I also think the definition of what terms are unacceptable has been made too broad. "That word has unpleasant connotations." Really? To who, you? Guess what? You can make any word sound offensive if you say it with enough venom and disdain, doesn't matter if it's been used historically or not. Homosexuals chose the term "gay" for themselves because they disliked other terms being used for them. Well, surprise surprise, the haters co-opted the term and now it's become slang for something that's not good! Of course, phrases like "gay and lesbian" are silly because lesbians are gay, so that's redundant. Likewise I think "African American" is a silly name for people whose heritage often goes back centuries in this country while many white people's ancestors may not have come over until the 20th century. So unless you want to call every white person a "European American", it's ridiculous. I also laughed when someone pointed out Charlize Theron, being from South Africa, is a true African-American! Take THAT PC police!

Now F-35 is in a bit of trouble
JediMaster replied to Julhelm's topic in Military and General Aviation
Can we finish the ones we're in before we start the next one? Oh, that's right, we can't. We never finish them, not since Vietnam in the 70s. We haven't left the mid east since we got there in 1990, but we were already doing stuff there before that (Beirut, Libya). Then there's that laughable "war on drugs" which seems to be fought with less zeal than I've seen the left and right wing commentators sling at each other on the 24 hr opinion networks. So what the hell, let's fight a war that you need scientific notation to count the fronts on! -
I found it funny how people were upset at Crysis being an SF shooter because they wanted a realistic military shooter. Well, that's not what it is. That's like complaining War of the Worlds was ruined by all the aliens in it!

Right, that's why diesel subs are better for short-range missions, and frankly India needs them close. It doesn't need subs in the Atlantic or Pacific, it doesn't even need to send them to the furthest extents of the Indian Ocean. In short, this is more about the technological ability and prestige of a nuke sub versus the actual combat utility of one.

SU-35UB Ejection at high speed for a movie!
JediMaster replied to Hokum's topic in Military and General Aviation
It must be the sequel to Stealth. -
Pakistan's comments are funny, because traditionally nuke subs are LOUDER than diesel/electric subs. They have long range and can stay out a long time, meaning you can lose track of them for a long period, but while it's a big technical achievment they're not as stealthy as the ones moving on batteries (which cost far less).

My daughter is just past 10 months now, and I can say it only gets HARDER as time goes on! Her first 6 months were a breeze compared to now. She used to sleep all the time whenever you put her down, now she HATES it and wants to stay awake as long as she can, even if it means crawling around half-asleep to keep going. However, I can honestly say thank heaven for little girls!
