You collect your wife? That didn't upset her? Sounds pretty easy, too. "Ok, I got the only one, collection complete!"

No, AF is everything F4 came with (Korea and F-16) plus a new theater (Balkans), the Euro F-16 MLU, and the addition of 3 eras (2000, 2005, 2010) for both theaters. It's all-in-one.

I DL'd it last night, just over 4GB. It says it has SP, so I'm going to see what that's like. I wished AA had coop in the past, it would be nice to have that ability.

They can try it all they want, but they seem to forget there are only so many MMOs that can succeed out there. Unlike regular games, if you want to play 3 MMOs that means you're paying a good $45/month on top of anything else! I don't know too many people who play more than 2 and the majority stick to 1.

Well, I guess we'll see how well BS does on a machine closer to the minimum specs then! That 8200 is likely the biggest weak point, although to be honest I don't know how a 2GHz Sempron compares with more mainstream CPUs anymore.
-
I don't think BS will run very great on your laptop. If you turn down the details it might run ok, but I know it needs more power than LOMAC by a good amount. F4:AF requires a lot less and will run quite well on that system, but the free look cockpit is comparatively low-detail (and not clickable) compared to the 2D cockpit. Both are about equal in systems modeling detail, although the BS is far harder to simply "fly"...I can take off in the F-16 in my sleep and fly all over the place, with landing only being mildly challenging. The Ka-50 however will likely take more damage on takeoff in your first 5 flights than the enemy could ever do, and landings are like carrier traps while flying backwards. As for Starforce, it didn't come with LOMAC but the Flaming Cliffs addon\Lockon Gold a few years later.

Sorry, that would have to be Korea! In the last 20 years, I believe MiG Alley was the lone entrant into this category! I admit there was a long WWI drought, but between FE, OFF, FS-WWI, and RoF not to mention other mods WWI is picking up steam.

Oh, I can affirm that. Reading my latest issues of IAPR I pick out mistakes all the time in spelling and grammar that can be pretty egregious. Makes me question their spell checking program! -
Single aircraft purchases?
JediMaster replied to column5's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well, think of it like this: one of the SF2 releases is only $20. Pick one and try it. Whether you like fighting Cold War, Vietnam, or fictional Mid East battles, there's something for all in this selection. Worst case scenario is you don't believe it was a big enough improvement to warrant buying it again, in which case you need not buy either of the other 2 or the ones to come, but in the meantime you did help TK out a little. Normally I wouldn't advocate "paying for a demo", but it's not a demo, as it's a complete game for $20 and it will let you use the newer mods coming out that are SF2-only with little headache! -
F-22A Version 2.01 Update

Do you mean the perception of how deep the areas where the pilot's legs go are? I'm not really sure what you're talking about. -
Your first combat flight sim...
JediMaster replied to Gunrunner's topic in General Flight Sim Discussion
There are a ton of old sims I wish would get 21st century updates, but alas and alack and anon and whatever, I don't think it will happen. Besides, when it does we're just as likely to get an EE2 as a BoB2 or F4:AF. -
Space is the final frontier after all. Besides, then you get stationed places like Vandenberg and Patrick instead of Minot...sound good to you?

Fighters crashing for training

I'd heard about a T-38 incident recently, but I'm not sure which one it was. -
That's right up there with Thunderbolt II and Fighting Falcon.

That's why any sizable project needs at least a second set of eyes, because after putting enough effort in any one person goes crosseyed! Think of it as having an editor, KB, proofreading your material! -
Single aircraft purchases?
JediMaster replied to column5's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well, SF2 did 2 main things--it made possible to mod in Vista without admin rights (you could mod the older ones in Vista just fine if you had rights to the ProgFiles directory, or you could install it somewhere "nonstandard") and it removed things Vista didn't work right with/added things that Vista could work right with, like MP and shaders. A lot of the other improvements we've seen have been "perks", but these perks are what I think has helped drive sales for those of us still running XP. The idea of selling single planes simply sounds like what Razbam and some others do, and not to take anything away from them, but I don't think it's really "needed." In other words, they do that, TK doesn't have to. He should concentrate more on the things that require source code access to accomplish along with new/updated terrains since those appear the most infrequently. I mean, after 7 years we have how many planes/objects? Hundreds? How many terrains? Ten? -
F-22A Version 2.01 Update
JediMaster replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
What I'm saying is some of the older planes that are basically "abandoned" by modders now gone will never work properly with 08 patch/SF2, so I'm not going to uninstall my older gen TW sims, I'll just leave those planes there because I certainly have neither the ability nor the time (that's a real big one there!) to get them to work myself. -
Actually, you can now claim to have been hit by a Chrysler!

Embarassing SF2V Question
JediMaster replied to brian79's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
SF2/V/E is totally worth getting if you like SF! Whether it will be worthwhile to dump the older ones that you've already tweaked as you like, well, that's a preference. The lack of MP irritates me, but I'm in a minority on that count. Nevertheless, I buy the SF2 releases to show continued support to TK in hopes that he WILL make a new title with great MP (as opposed to the lackluster MP of the original series). For example, other than 1 brief period with one patch revision (I forget which one, but it was post-release and pre-expansion pack) you can't use the RAF SE.5a in coop MP in First Eagles. Any attempt to put a human player in it (host or client) and that player CTDs. You can fight against them or even alongside them, just no human can sit in the cockpit. Plane works fine in SP! So I'm bugged by that, but I've resigned myself to MP being an afterthought in the older titles and absent in the new ones for now.
