SF vs SF2
JediMaster replied to Slartibartfast's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The only previous official merge was WOV + WOE, although you could do it yourself. By the end of this we'll have one mega official install done properly, although I will miss the MP. -
DCS Blackshark - Cannot play in full screen!

I've never even heard of that problem. Maybe you should check ED's official forums where their tech support is. -
SF vs SF2
JediMaster replied to Slartibartfast's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
MP was removed from SF2. Lots of little updates here and there. Vista compatibility (mods go in My Docs/Users instead of game folder). Different selection of planes from original releases (like A-1 in SF2:V). -
Yeah, so I can hear my in-laws talking about getting masks and Tamiflu when there's not even a confirmed case in the state yet? It's like people WANT something to panic over...
-
Well, there's no doubt from the handheld footage they were showing on the TV that some NY'ers were panicking, doing the whole screaming and running out of the buildings thing. In any other city this likely would've been a non-issue, but someone didn't think how it might affect NYC in particular.

NF4 Released
JediMaster replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
It was posted in the duplicate thread to this in the Column 5 forum, but I believe it was the F-16A Blk 15. -
Good, you don't want to retire in this economy!!
-
So, is your country old enough to retire now?
-
Maybe it was a Michael Bay shot and they're just keeping it quiet?
-
That would be a problem for me, as I grew up in Miami and almost none of the streets have names, just numbers. So having a name like "Spot 199th Street" sounds REALLY lame.

Those are some stupid staff members there.

NF4 Released
JediMaster replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I've never bothered to test, but does TK's engine take launch altitude and speed into account for missiles? I know not all flight sims do, and you can get the same range and PK from a launch at Mach 1 @ 36k as at Mach .5 @ 5k. -
Depressed: My video card is a legacy product
JediMaster replied to streakeagle's topic in Hardware/Software Chat
Yes, resolution does have a significant bearing on speed as well. However, it's not JUST the video card but the CPU as well when it comes to res. For FSAA, it's pretty much 100% on the video card. A faster CPU won't let you play with 4x at 19x10 if you can't now, but a faster video card will. -
...but first, it's time for Dirty Jobs!

Rafale knocked out from Indian MRCA contest
JediMaster replied to ghostrider883's topic in Military and General Aviation
Nice try That tail stinger is too long for carrier ops, though! That's another differentiation between the 27KUB and the 32/34. All carrier-based Flankers have a stinger shorter than the 27, while the 2-seat land-based ones have a longer one. -
SF2V patch....
JediMaster replied to Sundowner's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
That means either A) the bugs were minor little things easily changed or B) he had the fix in the works even before release and decided against delaying release to fix them first. I'm leaning towards A because he has no timetable other than his own and delaying SF2V a couple of weeks wouldn't have mattered much to his bottom line. -
And 4 months later I still am not much better! Granted I've put in maybe 2 hrs/month...

Hmmm. "Practical" is a good question. The main issue is roll reversal. You can reverse a roll faster with a stick than a yoke, and of course I think that pulling back on the stick is a little more intuitive than pulling on the yoke. I don't think there's any reason it won't work, though, especially if you're used to the yoke.

The real mystery is the Bermuda Rhombus.

I remember when I turned 30...I was sitting at the same desk I'm sitting at now. Well, metaphorically as we got new desks at work a year or so later.

Patrick AFB. Also known as Retiree AFB, Golf and Marina AFB, and Aren't There Supposed to be Planes at an AFB? AFB. -
NF4 Released
JediMaster replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I can't DL it yet (USAF no likey that) so I was just going on that list you posted! If you decided to be El Sneaky the Sneakmeister and not include it, well, it's not my fault!! -
NF4 Released
JediMaster replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I don't think you included it here, but I was just thinking for the eventual SF2:WOE version you could put in the F-117. After all, if there had been a war in Europe in 1986 it would've shown up, like it almost did for the Libyan raid that year. I'll be putting it in manually from ODS myself. -
ODS and missing weapons
JediMaster replied to ONETINSOLDIER's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I could be mistaken (it happens usually only on leap years), but I think there's a great readme included with recommended steps for installation starting with a clean install. Proceed in any other manner at ye own peril!!! -
Completely removing Windows 7 Beta from dual boot with Vista
JediMaster replied to GwynO's topic in Hardware/Software Chat
You've run into the "HD makers vs everyone else" issue. For everyone who uses computers, 1 MB isn't 1,000,000 bytes, it's 1,024,000 bytes. HD makers say it's 1,000,000. So, my 160GB drive has 159,996,960,768 bytes. Windows (and the world) says that's 149GB, but the HD says "160GB". There was a class action lawsuit years back about it that resulted in little except some lawyers getting rich and people getting the option to buy a new HD at like $10 off. Whoopee. As for the dual boot still showing, you have to edit your boot.ini file to get rid of that. Take EXTREME care when messing with it!
