I would think different fuel would burn differently. I can't even remember, is anything other than JP-8 in use anymore?

What if it was a yacht with lawyers on it that got hijacked by the pirates??

Actually, the F-16 was built for the greatest reason of all: money. The F-15 COULD have done the job, but it was obviously too expensive to buy in sufficient numbers to replace the existing fleets (see F-22/F-35!). The LFX program was conceived as the "lo" part of a "hi lo" mix to fill out the numbers by having a cheap 2 missile + gun fighter very much along the lines of the MiG-21. The F-16E is as different from the YF-16 as you can get without a totally different airframe. They just got lucky that you could stick a bigger engine in it and hang tons of bombs off the wings to make it multirole. The F-16A was in need of many upgrades to make it a true multirole plane anyway.

Isn't this used in the opening of F4? -
Wow, somehow the single-seat A-6 looks UGLIER than the standard version or the Prowler! Amazing, I didn't think it was possible!

Russian state to order naval fighters to support MiG company

I can just imagine us selling F-16s to Iraq in 2002 as we're prepping for the invasion! Were all those deaths in Cuba during the Bay of Pigs conflict? -

Well, Jug, while most of the nitpickers are not modders, there have been instances in the past where they were. The "mod wars" that have been waged have been ugly and are usually even MORE out of line than the statements from the non modders. So the caveat is while maybe you HAVE done something as good or even better than some particular mod, that doesn't give you the right to denigrate someone else's. Helpful criticism along the lines of "if you do X you would probably not see Y problem" is fine, but when it goes to "how can you release a mod with Y problem and call yourselves quality?!?" it just becomes ludicrous. It seems to go with those who create, though. Musician A will ridicule musician B, filmmaker X will cut down filmmaker Y, and so on. I don't understand it, but I recognize it's not limited to mods. -
LOMAC defensive problems

Turning away is always going to get you killed. You NEVER put a missile on your six. You have to time the chaff and flares so they go out before the missile would hit, but not RIGHT before. It's more like 2 seconds before impact I think for best effect. You don't have to turn into them necessarily, such as doing a split S when they're at your 3 or 9, but the whole point is to make your plane change position faster than the missile can turn. -
What?? THIRD person?? Since when??! RF was an FPS through and through. Sigh.

I saw a great thing on the Daily Show last night. They said during this crisis with the economy crashing, there's only one man who can save us! Sully! He needs to guide our economy to a soft water landing before we all burn!

The 46" Samsung can make some heat. That's what I have in my bedroom and I have to keep the backlight at 5 or roast.

I'll bet not one of them is as good a pirate as Capt Jack Sparrow!

Oh, I'm not talking about sales one way or the other. The rank and file masse won't know about the dev, all they see is "MS." However, it's like Far Cry 2...other than the name, it has NO relation to Far Cry.

See? Other people use the Force, too.

LOMAC defensive problems

To be honest, I don't think I've evaded nearly as many with labels off as with them on. If they're IR it's pretty much the ONLY time I evade them. Labels off = you better kill them before they fire! -
Those little tutorial videos are nice, if perhaps WAY too short! Basically, patience patience patience (x10000000000).

Looking to get a new pc. Couple of questions/concerns
JediMaster replied to Coot's topic in Hardware/Software Chat
Core i7's are pricey right now thanks to needing DDR3 RAM (which costs a lot more than DDR2). Also, quads don't give you as much bang for the buck. They're not out yet, but Intel will be releasing a 3.5GHz Duo soon that I'm looking to replace my 3.0 Duo with. A 3GHz Quad costs more than a 3.3GHz Duo right now and for most things is likely not as fast. Of course, it depends how long you want to wait before upgrading again. I'd say dual cores will be competitive for at least 2 more years, but after that quads will likely surpass them as everything is written to take advantage of them. -
94. They bought their tickets, they knew what they were getting into. I say, let them crash. 93. Disco lives forever! 92. When taking pictures at an airport, grab the one of the Messerschmitt.

I've told you once.

All the experience is gone. All of it. They'd be lucky to have anyone who'd ever worked on any flight sim EVER on staff. An existing dev says "ok, we know what didn't work last time and what we couldn't get to work...what can we get to work NOW with the better PCs available?"

I remember rants against mods back on SimHQ in the old days (ie pre-WOV) that I never understood. You don't have to like it. You don't have to use it. You may wish they'd use their time/talent to make a mod that interests you more. If it doesn't work the way you think it should, well, it's an open game, change it yourself! Aside from 3D models, of course. Then you live with it or without it. I didn't understand the vitriol about how it wasn't as great as it was hyped to be. Hyped by who? People's responses to screenshots? The modders bubbling over with their excitement for how much they enjoyed it in its pre-release form? What were they expecting? It's still a TW sim through and through. Could TK release a "Wings over the Gulf" that was better? Perhaps, although I'm guessing he'd have fewer planes in it since he never goes over around 2 dozen planes in a release. So if it was better, it would be in a different way. The ODS mod was not payware. You didn't even have to pay to subscribe to the site get it (although we wish everyone would to help out poor MK2!) It's not like your games will stop working if you don't get it, or if you do. I wonder if these people go on fan sites for music groups and complain that say Rascal Flatts isn't making music like Conway Twitty and it's NOT as good as Conway Twitty even though some guy his neighbor knows said it was. There are far better uses of one's time than to complain that people are enjoying something. -
BISON WIP
JediMaster replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Before they built the An-225, a Bison was used to carry the Buran orbiter around. It looked just as tiny on its back as on the 225! A far cry from the way the STS orbiters look on a 747. Of course, as was typical with NATO, they believed the Bison to be the major threat because it was jet-powered and appeared to have intercontinental range. They totally dismissed the Bear. It took many years for them to realize they'd been looking in the wrong place. -
E-2C Hawkeye 2000, or E-2D?
