Strike Fighters 2 Reviewed
JediMaster replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
For me the only con is the killing off of MP. Everything else about it is better than previous releases, just like every TW sim is better than the one before. Ok, the smaller variety of airframes is a minor con. F-4s and A-4s coming out of your ears, but I would've liked another airframe to replace the missing 104s. -
Something Really Really Big?

Some early Soviet cruise missiles were literally MiGs dropped by bombers. -

Oh, I'm not concerned with making it work like "real." My guess is TW's engine is not coded for such a thing. I was speaking merely of the visual of it there, trailing the planes. The Bone also has them, and I believe the F-16 has them in pod form? So if we can figure it out for one plane it should be applicable to all of these. Does the Typhoon use one too? I can't remember. -
B-1B Lancer AKA "The Bone"
JediMaster replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
That would be a good "what if" mission. As you know, the Bone was forced to sit out ODS because they didn't have the conventional bomb carriers worked out yet. Of course, ODS is ripe for modding into later years with things like Op Desert Fox (which DID involved Bones) and OIF just by adding new planes. -

Actually, I think calling them Rhinos is perfect! A rhino is near-sighted, tempermental, stupid enough to attack trees, and can be smelled from miles away! The real plane aside, this is looking awesome. Related to this, but not directly, are towed decoys. If buddy pods can be made, I would think a towed decoy could be deployed as well in a similar manner? I don't know if you could just link it to deploy when you hit the jammer key or if it would need a separate key. Anyway, the US has been using them for over 10 years now and yet no sim I know of has had them. Would be nice if TW's were the first. -

The best thing about the DC-8 are the 4 giant speakers masquerading as engines. Those things don't use jets, they are propelled by the sheer volume of SOUND they make. -
I played the demo on the 360, but I'm still not very good with the gamepad in a shooter. If it's on the PC it might be easier to control.

Battlefield 1943 Pacific the next Battlefield? Return to WWII?
JediMaster replied to Acidrain's topic in The Bunker
I would like a BF43 that is BF42 with updated graphics and AI. This doesn't look like this will be that. Instead, we have what appear to be a mere THREE maps, bombing runs (BF2 airstrikes) called in by people to spam areas... I think this is going to miss the point by the diameter of the solar system. -
I find baffling his equivocating in the middle of the rant. "You're a nice guy, but..." I mean, you're so pissed off at the guy that you go on this tirade, but you still have to give him a compliment or two?? Must be a British thing. Over here you'd talk about how incompetent those that raised them must be, their questionable genetics, and likely pasttimes involving animals.

I know how demoralizing it can be for someone who was formerly a very active member of society to be given a backseat with no way to contribute. I'm glad you've been able to find a place willing to let you contribute again. People NEED to have a purpose. For some it's not a job, but for many it is and they should be allowed to have them if they want them and can do them.

Well, if they actually started meting out JUSTICE in these courts, they might see their prison population increase to a fraction close to what the US has, and they don't want THAT. That would imply they're not BETTER. After all, inmates are a clear measure of how many criminals you have. Oh no, better to leave admitted criminals on the street to rape and attack at will than to risk imprisoning someone for one day longer than was absolutely necessary. Whatever.

We had a couple MP parties when I was in HS. We'd show one of the movies at someone's house along with drinks and snacks and scripts.

Well, according to that link I only need to lose about 10 lbs, which is what I already knew. I'm 5'11" and 180-185lbs right now, although I was at 175 a few months ago. I've not been below 175 though for many years. I was 150 when I met my wife right out of college, but everyone told me I was too thin then. Ah, I miss that!

Land of the Lost doesn't look like a comedy per se, rather an action film with a lot of comedy in it, like perhaps the Mummy films. GI Joe appears to be based largely on the 80s cartoon incarnation.

Stupid gov't regs. Notice all the stuff there about it being "woman-owned" and "SDB"? That's how you get gov't contracts (or more usually sub-contracts). Because of regs like that, the gov't will ALWAYS be wasting money. -

What type of video card do you have? Do you have the latest drivers for it? -
PCI E 2.0 cards will work on PCI E 1 mobos, the interface is just a bit slower. The 2.0 card simply runs slower than optimal, otherwise fully backwards compatible. If you're willing to spend $250, go for a GTX 260. Of course, you need to have a minimum 500w PSU for that, so check what you have first. Sites like Newegg list the recommended PSU ratings for most of the video cards they sell under the specs tab.

E-machines were the PCs stacked in the aisle at Walmart for $350. Then Gateway bought them and it was only downhill after that! -

Looks like textures are on a low setting to me. If your PC can handle it, try increasing their quality. -
Enterprise's final season was excellent. Too bad the earlier ones had already killed its ratings so it died.

Well I watched them all last night. The Land of the Lost film is a lot bigger budget than I was expecting. GI Joe may be worthy, hard to know yet. Transformers 2 should be good. Star Trek looks good.
