Your greatest missions
JediMaster replied to coolpilot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I don't have the debrief or any screenshots, but I once fired an SRAM from my F-111 at an enemy airbase with multiple bad guys overhead. I got an insane number of kills including all 4 MiGs! It was a true lucky shot. -
Desert Storm Mod Update For Jan 2009
JediMaster replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Does the OV-10 use the generic prop sound or does it have its own? -
She's a maneater...
JediMaster replied to FastCargo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I saw the prototype at the Pima Museum in AZ. It was such an oddball to look at, granted with faded paint and sand-blasted bare metal. -
Over Flanders Fields: Between Heaven and Hell Phase 3 is now available!
JediMaster replied to ArgonV's topic in WWI Flight Sim Discussion
I DL'd phase 2, but I don't remember if I installed it... I played some of phase 1, but really not much at all. I played a lot more CFS3 w/Firepower and 1% planes by a factor of like 50. With FE/expansion/mods, I find I really don't ever think of playing OFF. That makes $50 a waste for me, although for people that love WWI sims I think it isn't a bad deal. -
IL2/FB-AEP-PF setup
JediMaster replied to zzedd100's topic in IL-2 Series / Pacific Fighters / Cliffs of Dover: General Discussion
If you only have up to PF, you can't install 4.08m. I think you can only go to 4.04? I forget exactly. 4.08m is the patch for Il-2:46, which included the 3 addons of Pe-2, 46, and Sturmoviks over Manchuria. -
IL-2 1946
JediMaster replied to pablo10692's topic in IL-2 Series / Pacific Fighters / Cliffs of Dover: General Discussion
Also included with that was Sturmoviks over Manchuria I believe. That introduced the Il-10 and a Manchuria map among other planes. Il-2:46 has everything they ever did. -
As you see from my sig, I know him fondly. His last role was that cow on Family Guy. He was hilarious. Also was in the first Naked Gun, very funny there, too. I only recently found out he spent the last 15 years of his life in a wheelchair due to complications from spinal surgery in the early 90s for an injury he received on a film decades ago. Nick Meyer commented that he had a limp that he covered up on film, but he asked him to let it show for the scenes after Khan was wounded at the end of the film.

I played Axis and Allies to death. However, the large number of units in the later stages of the game made me write a little program in BASIC to roll the dice! Instead of taking those 6 dice and rolling them 5 times each, I could type "30" and it would randomly guess numbers from 1-6 then print it on screen. 1s - 4 2s - 6 3s - 5 4s - 5 5s - 7 6s - 3 A real time saver!

I guess your dollar is smaller than ours, since my wife and I can get lunch at most fast food places for just around $11, including 2 burgers, one fries that we share, and 2 drinks.

Cool Ranch or original Nacho for me. CR of course was the first non-Nacho flavor. All these others are just trendy garbage.

No, today China reports the world's 3rd largest economy. They actually had it in 2007.

I didn't know there were J-8 or J-10 models for LOMAC. I was surprised at the use of Pirates of the Caribbean music as well!

Admiral, there be whales here!! -
Anyone want to try the YF-17?
JediMaster replied to Dload's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The thing I found most fascinating was the design iterations leading to the YF-17 design showing the F-5 lineage clearly. -
Indian Air Force Phalcon AWACS arrives in India
JediMaster replied to ghostrider883's topic in Military and General Aviation
I've not seen Phalcon on a Il-76 yet I don't think, weren't they always mounted on 707s or something so far? -
IAF Su-30MKIs being retrofitted to carry cruise missiles
JediMaster replied to ghostrider883's topic in Military and General Aviation
That Kh-31 just barely fits on the Flanker belly and it's huge, but I've not seen a comparison shot of the Brahmos missile. Of course, sometimes they stick big ones like that on the inboard wing and balance it with some other store if they need the ground clearance. -
Anyone want to try the YF-17?
JediMaster replied to Dload's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
There are as many differences between the YF-17 and F/A-18A as there between the F/A-18A and F/A-18E. YF-17 had USAF-standard "stick" gear like the F-15 and F-16 have, not the beefier ones the Hornet got. No dogtooth on the wing, smaller LERX's, bigger slots in the LERXs for air to pass through, funny looking stabs, the list is long. The main issue is it's really not much different from an F-16A in many ways, and since we have those a modder would have to have a lot of particular interest, which none have to date. -
Not forgetting, omitting! BA is great fun on my 360, on the big screen with the gamepad. It is also WWII flight. It is not a sim.

Thank you for making the world safe from trees like that, one at a time.

The biggest thing about ArmA is friendly AI is lame, so it's best to play it MP with other people playing on your side. While using the vehicles is fun, they're hardly realistic.

I thought you were going to say Trivial Pursuit.

IAF Su-30MKIs being retrofitted to carry cruise missiles
JediMaster replied to ghostrider883's topic in Military and General Aviation
What I mean is wouldn't it be cheaper/better to make another missile variant that has commonality in the warhead, seeker, and motor but structural changes to make it more viable for air launch from a Flanker? The F-22 didn't get its bays enlarged, they made AIM-120s with smaller fins and SDBs to fit inside. I get the image of that Iranian F-14 carrying a Hawk... -
Possibly the AI with the biggest BS factor in any flight sim EVER.

There is no spoon. Or to quote a certain superhero, SPOOOOOON!!!!! I'm so used to my TIR4 now after like 2 or 3 years, I forget which, that I find flying without it almost impossible. It's like having blinders on. Whether I'm in my kite over Verdun, or blasting Jerry over the beaches, or dueling in MiG Alley, or dropping napalm in Route VI, or fighting off Fulcrums over Seoul, or trying to get that damned Black Shark to fly in a straight line, I NEED my TIR now!!!
