  1. Strange issue with overcast layer...

The good news for you is the X3100 is the BEST Intel integrated chip they ever made. However, that's a bit like saying "This is the best Yugo ever built".
  2. Well well, they actually have done a good job on the UI. I'm very surprised as I thought it was a cultural block preventing them from doing it.
  3. Today's Funny

    Well.
  4. Additional MiG-29Ks for the Indian Navy

I'm not sure what's wrong with the Rafale...maybe it was the lack of the word "Mirage" in the name...but it sure has been a bust for Dassault. However, seeing as it likely has little in common with the M2000, but the MiG-29K DOES have stuff in common with other Russian jets, from a logistics perspective I can see that the 29K would be favored every time.
  5. Scrapping the F-117

Well, the 117 was designed "stealth first, fly later" so that doesn't surprise me.
  6. Scrapping the F-117

I thought it was actually based more on the F/A-18 (which entered service just as the 117 was being designed)...cockpit, engines, and other stuff. F-15 gear, though.
  7. New US Aircraft carriers anyone

Watch for the debut of the USS Chevy Chase on SNL.
  8. CA Subscriptions

I think this will work: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?act=p...&CODE=index
  9. Yet another checkride...

Now compare that to how many hrs of your life you've spent sitting on the can since you were born!
  10. Whew... Bullet dodged.

Crysis doesn't count, that was a game by another dev just distributed by them. The real legacy of EA is to buy good devs and turn them into corporate brain-dead devs that don't release good games.
  11. USAF Tanker contract troubles...

That's exactly my point. Boeing is leading their proposal, but NG's "lead" on the Airbus tanker is a vary pale 2nd. Like I said, the real difference in workforce numbers is minor. If Boeing wins it's like 2400 US jobs and if the other wins it's like 2000 US jobs, that's it! The REAL issue is which big-wig corporation is going to reap the profits. Big fat rich US execs, or big fat rich US and Euro execs? It doesn't matter to the rest of us.
  12. Strange issue with overcast layer...

I will say with almost 100% certainty this is because of your Intel integrated graphics chip. I can't say why it didn't occur in previous patches or why it only happens in certain instances, but that is definitely the cause of your trouble.
  13. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

Specs? Either you have the console or you don't! It's for PS3, 360, Wii, PSP, PS2, and DS I think. You CAN'T get it for the PC. Yes, the Force powers seem a bit overblown, but on the other hand the lightsaber isn't "realistic", it takes a few swipes to take out enemies as opposed to the realism mod I used for Jedi Academy where you knock off a limb or cut in half anyone you hit with it, no matter how "powerful" they are. There are limitations to using the Force powers, too, so I think they balanced it well.
  14. We had 30 inches of rain in 24 hrs from TS Fay, so I think everyone there should do ok!
  15. More Star Trek

Space channel, so a Canadian one I guess?
  16. No Power.....No Nothing

See, there are some benefits to living in FL. We get winds that fast and we don't even stop going to work! TS Fay was stronger than that and blew for TWO DAYS but only the rain was a problem. My roof still looks like it did when we bought the place 7 years ago. Frankly, the entire country would be better off with FL's building codes, but it won't happen because of cost, not unless you get hit by storms like that so often the insurance companies make it cost-effective (by charging rates mega-high or just failing to cover those who don't conform to those codes). We had sustained 100mph winds here several times in 2004 and 2005 and I just lost a couple (mostly dead) trees. Lost power a total of 4 hrs in all combined.

We realize there are unemployed members here, or those who are employed but are either barely (or failing) to make ends meet. Of course, the unemployed are the ones that spend a good amount of time here simply because they have time those of us who work don't. Combatace is an entertainment website, plain and simple. For those incapable of paying (whatever the reason), we're not going to cut you off because many of them make valuable contributions in other ways. Help a n00b. For the rest, though, entertainment costs. It costs in every area. Even a book you check out at the library isn't "free", your tax dollars pay for that. TV is paid for with ads but the internet ad model kind of sucks right now. You need such massive numbers to justify good rates that I think you're stuck in a spiral of having to pay more in costs to justify higher ad rates that won't cover them! This is definitely the "honor system" and we realized we weren't going to get some 50% contribution. We did NOT realize how few cared to try. So you can't swing a 12 month cost, but you've been here months and plan on hanging around for many more. You could at least swing ONE month. If you went out and bought dinner but only paid for the salad, the restaurant wouldn't accept that, but we will here. If MOST people just paid for one month it would help a LOT. What's that cost now anyway? Less than 2 gallons of gas!
  18. Who Did It?

Well, I can say it wasn't me and you have to believe it because I didn't know you needed one and I certainly didn't know what model it was!
  19. phylosophing about why hate eMO.....

Um...ok, WTF? I've never heard of this "emo" crap. Only one I know is Emo Phillips. You can just call him "Mr Butterfingers."
  20. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

The Force is not to be taken lightly!
  21. What was the Worse console game you ever played?

Aw, you didn't like simply attacking endless waves of AT-ATs with your speeder until you got bored?
  22. U2 Carrier Ops - The Movie!

Not like you'd think. The U-2 stalls itself to a landing on a motionless runway under normal conditions. With the carrier's forward motion it's relative speed to the deck would be quite low and the stress likely not too bad. The corrosive sea air is a different matter! The maintenance guys would've had to go thru hell, especially without the spares stores a normal carrier plane would have.
  23. Abbotsford Airshow Pics 2008

My daughter was just born 9/12, so I'm right there with you!
  24. USAF Tanker contract troubles...

The Boeing comment that they would rather throw in the towel was definitely a "back in your face" move to Airbus/NorthGrum after they pulled the same stunt originally. The sad fact is Boeing is the ONLY all-US contractor lead who can bid on this(although as some analyst pointed out the actual employee US/foreign numbers aren't as widespread as you might believe, something on the order of less than 1000 workers between the 2 bids because Boeing does so much overseas subcontracting anyway) so we have to have a foreign competitor. Here's what everyone in industry, Congress, and Joe On the Street wants: Boeing to win in a fair and open competition with the best product, best price, and great benefit to the US economy. That didn't happen because the original RFP was written for the 767 and when Airbus balked because they had nothing in that class and the RFP was rewritten, it now favored NorthGrum's bid. Ideally enough time should've been given originally for Boeing to be able to redo its proposal using the 777 or 787, but that belies the very reason they were going with the 767 originally...time! The politics however have now made that point moot so Boeing might as well draw up proposals for both of those options now and forget about the 767.
  25. Su-39

No, the Russians never built a true A-10 analogue. The A-10 was built as a "tank buster" to destroy large numbers of WP tanks coming into W Europe. The USSR didn't see large hordes of NATO tanks as a threat, so the Su-25 wasn't built to do that. It was instead designed as a CAS weapon, a latter-day Il-2 with bombs and rockets and a very limited precision attack capability. The 25T and TM are attempts to increase that precision to modern levels via the addition of the CRT, ARM integration, and so on. The Vikhr is a deadly missile, but the stock 25 can't use it. The Su-25 has a "small" 30mm cannon that has a 150 rounds or so. It can take out lightly armored vehicles and soft targets, but is really not meant for tank busting. The A-10's "large" 30mm GAU-8 was designed specifically for that purpose, as was the AGM-65 Maverick, a weapon type the Russians never really made themselves. The Vikhr is more like the Hellfire than a Maverick.
