Pilot hurt in jet breakup sues Boeing
JediMaster replied to littlesmoke's topic in Military and General Aviation
I think that was one F-22's cockpit in a single instance. I'm sure there have been many instances over the years of other planes with stuck canopies. The major deal here was it was the newest plane in inventory, the plane is expensive, and they had to saw the canopy open to unstick it. I hardly think a single instance like that could call into question the entire plane's design. That's like saying the US military's reliability should be called into question because one soldier kills his wife or another rapes a civilian. Machines are machines, people are people. Only reason I would normally think of a lawsuit like this is for medical bills, but as noted the gov't is supposed to pay for all that. If he's going to be permanently grounded over it, I don't think it would be a career-ender. Maybe it won't be the same career he envisioned, but if he'd been shot down by a SAM over enemy territory he'd likely not be in any better shape, and you can't sue insurgents or another country for shooting you down and ruining your career! I'm just not sure what to make of this. -
Joint Dual Role Air Dominance Missile
JediMaster replied to Silverbolt's topic in Military and General Aviation
They've made "universal" AAMs for a long time now, yes. IR or SARH (or even ARH), but never for AGM applications. -
No, you're right. I'm amazing, too.

Hey! You got your polar bear in my black bear! Hey! You got your black bear in my polar bear! Two great bears that go together...pretty lame.

I have been and always will be a Hurricane.

Just remember--we might screw up Earth enough to kill ourselves off, but we won't hurt the Earth (unless we nuke the whole surface). The Earth has been thru a lot worse than our puny butts.

Many dynamic campaigns also have built-in repair routines so that if you take long enough to revisit a target it will be fixed. The best way to know if you have a sim with a dynamic campaign vs a static one is to start over with the same plane/base and see what happens. Do you get the same mission every time, like LOMAC or Longbow? It's static. Do you get a different target/set of circumstances, like F4, RB3D, Longbow 2? It's dynamic.

http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=43128 The casting ideas are already flying. Have to admit I think Steve Carell as Murdock would work. I can't see this NOT being stupid, though.

Aircraft Carrier?
JediMaster replied to Sgt Bayliss's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
You need to be in a mission that has it (it's not always there) and you should be able to find it as another runway when in NAV mode. Make sure you're in the Su-33, too, or you could be in for a rude surprise on landing. -

You need a DirectX 8 video card or better. Most integrated video chipsets are not that good. -
Airspeed in the Thirdwire games
JediMaster replied to Rambler 1-1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The other thing is AI may not fly the plane at the speeds you would if you were in it. They can do odd things at times. -
The KB obsession
JediMaster replied to Crusader's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
It seems thrown by hyphens/dashes. Using names is less problematic, assuming the mod is listed with its name, of course. -
I think we can all agree on that one!!

The KR "reboot" already aired. Yes, it's a Mustang. The Hoff has a 5 min cameo in at the very end. It wasn't very interesting, really. Val Kilmer did the voice and that wasn't that great either.

No, but I don't see why I must rely on that site for the answer!

You know, I probably do. Beats me if I can remember it, though!

JediMaster replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Someone needs to make a skin with the word "godless" and a pic of Stephen Colbert on the nose. -
What do i chose?!?!?
JediMaster replied to tanocapo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I'd say SFG is the best value because of what you can add to it for the price. Best overall is likely WOE. I don't say WOI only because the large number of changes to it limit how many mods for SFP->WOE work "unaltered" with WOI. If you're NOT modding, WOI is the best "out of the box". -
The wife has placed severe restrictions on my book purchases due to lack of space and inbound arrival of Jedi 2.0 in another 2 trimesters. Too bad you can never find books like these at the library.

Now there's a pipe you really should not smoke! Cancer coming out you from all sides... -
You are an F5U Cutlass. Few remember what the hell you are and those who do remember think you're funny looking.

Ok, you're Viggenito!

Did you honestly NOT see how confrontationally you worded your post? You don't poke someone in the eye and then act surprised when they shove your hand away, and then call them aggressive.

I guess they feel the F-22 will do what they want more than the F-35 will, despite them not knowing most of what the F-22 could do anyway? Besides, if it succeeds the F-35 will be more advanced than the F-22 by virtue of being a 15 years newer design. Not that it matters as Congress seems dead set against anyone else having F-22s, and by the way they complain about the price that seems to include the USAF as well. Maybe Congress would allow a situation like we used to have with nukes in the 50s? Where we had US-controlled nukes stationed on foreign bases for use by foreign air forces with US approval... In other words, the planes are paid for by the gov't that wants them and operate as part of that gov'ts air force, but are crewed and maintained by USAF forces to prevent "security breaches". Granted it sounds like a raw deal as you spend the money but only get to give orders, but if you TRULY believe "only the F-22 will do", this may be a way to appease the paranoids in Congress.

Go to Miami. It's more expensive, but you won't really notice much difference aside from more traffic.
