"We're going to replace those '75 Fords you've been using with these '82 Fords. Say thank you!" -
UK Changes JSF ASRAAM Configuration
JediMaster replied to BUFF's topic in Military and General Aviation
Wait, they're talking about using an ASRAAM seeker for BVR??? -
So, you find yourself falling from aircraft but you forgot the parachute

It's all about the g forces ie deceleration. The lower that force is, the better you are. -
Australia Cancels Seasprite Contract
JediMaster replied to BUFF's topic in Military and General Aviation
I'm not surprised at all. This Seasprite deal has never been anything but problems. -
They've been talking about B-52 reengining for literally decades now. However, the C-5 fleet's need was higher so they're doing that first. Yet the price is now $12bn on the LOW side of the estimates, and some are predicting it may run $18bn. To put 4 new engines on 100 planes! Ok, I think they're doing some cockpit renovations too, but still.

The "G"rowler was the nickname assigned to the project when it was revealed EA-18G would be the designation. After awhile, the USN just decided not to fight it and made it official.

Nigeria: Air Force Gets Chinese Jets Soon
JediMaster replied to BUFF's topic in Military and General Aviation
I think there are a few Meteors and T-33s still out there, although not really in "front line" service. -
Or how about simply Islander?

If you have Il-2-46, which is I believe ver 4.06m, you only need the 4.08m patch which I think is all-inclusive and lets you skip 4.07m. However, to be safe you could install that one too. There's no CP for Il-2-46 at 4.08, either.

A WIP by Kout

The music is a just a .wav file, you can put whatever you want in there. Something appropriately 60's sounding like "White Rabbit"! -
Desert Storm Update
JediMaster replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
This is being done for post-patch/WOI, correct? As far as the weapons and all, ergo the mod will not work with the non-WOI sims as they stand now? -
Shot down by Abrams MBT
JediMaster replied to JKstar's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I remember in WWIIOL (YEARS ago...I think it was release year, actually) I was in a PanzerIIIF and I shot down a French D-plane trying to strafe or bomb me with one shot from my main gun right into his engine. It was a beautiful sight, and I'm sure the pilot was MAD. I've done it in OFP/ArmA a few times when a helo is either A) hovering or B) moving in a perfectly straight line with a good deflection angle. I've actually shot down far more helos with unguided RPGs there, though. -
Beta: J-29F for WOI/Patch 5

What, you mean the curtains? -

Ok, I guess I'll have to wait for the next patch then for my non-WOI installs. As for using canards for lift, I think the Viggen did that. The canards were fixed with elevators on the back rather than all-moving. -
It's what you're supposed to be wearing on your uniform, but what you don't have enough of. So, I'm gonna need you to come in at 9 am...on Sunday...that would be great...

Netherlands to buy two F-35 JSFs for joint testing
JediMaster replied to BUFF's topic in Military and General Aviation
Yeah, but F-16s were dirt cheap back then! -
Yeah, really. You should at least have some Ritz crackers!

The one you listed for WOI? I was flying it in SFP1, so I didn't think that would work. I also noticed a slow roll rate, although the pitch rate seemed fine. -
hey guys where is the T-4?
JediMaster replied to Silverbolt's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I think we could use the Sukhoi SS bomber more than a trainer, but I'll gladly take either. -
missing MIG 21 in WOE
JediMaster replied to HUNACE's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Start a multiplayer server and you can fly all the MiGs out of the box. You just can't fly them without modding in SINGLE player. -

I'll add to the wingmen crashing thing. I've seen it as well, and I notice if you turn on your autopilot to land you automatically it will instead smash you into the ground well short of the runway. In short, it flies you far too slow. Not sure why, but there you go. -
You may not realize how small a KC-135 actually is. It's dwarfed by a 767. The 787 will replace the 767, but it's obviously not ready to be made into a tanker any time soon. The 777 is even bigger than the Airbus by a good bit as well. Anyway, the protest will happen no matter what, hopefully the USAF got its crap together well enough that it won't take too long.

India Extends Bid Deadline for New Fighter
JediMaster replied to BUFF's topic in Military and General Aviation
It's a big, heavy, expensive plane. You don't replace MiG-21s with Su-30s. They want something smaller and cheaper for that role. Of course, if it's not cheaper, it better be a lot more capable. The Su-30 is capable, but it's still not a "next gen" plane. The Typhoon, F-22, F-35, and Super Hornet are all more modern. The Gripen is probably on par.
