  1. USS Kitty Hawk for the Indian Navy?

The Super Hornet is the best carrier-capable plane out there until the JSF enters service. Every other plane mentioned so far, including the Su-33 and MiG-29K, is not as good thanks to the AESA and lower RCS. If you go comparing it with land-based planes, that's a different story. However, while Oz isn't looking for a carrier plane, India would be.
  2. RAF prepares for 5th C-17

So, are they preparing...psychologically? Does the concept of "more than 4" require some major preparation?
  3. I'm still surprised no other country with carriers has bought T-45s yet. Granted they're no help with Harriers...
  4. One more revolutionary plane missed...

Building one is NOT cheap. That's why the US is the only one to have any operational stealth planes so far.
  5. The more you draw out the testing process the more it costs in the long run. Congress never seems to grasp that.
  6. Inline VS Radial

I may have this a little off, but the main reason P-51s were used in Korea and not P-47s was quite simply there weren't enough P-47s to do the job. Of course, jets were used in the early days but quickly replaced by piston engined fighters when their short legs became clear. The ANG nationwide had been given P-51s as the jets were delivered to the active force. The P-47s were mostly scrapped. Why? Hard to say. Perhaps for the intended mission of "defend US soil from waves of incoming Soviet bombers" the P-51 was seen as the better choice than the "Jug." The idea that only 5 years later they'd be doing ground attack in Korea literally never entered their minds.
  7. Wings over...

How about Wings Over Miami? Fly against drug trafficking planes coming in at night low and slow...
  8. While flying back from Midland

I knew a guy who lived there and in Odessa for 3 years. He then moved back to FL and was glad.
  9. AWACker for 22 Feb 08

I'm an ace in a day on my TV!
  10. The Scooter was well known as a fast roller. I think it did 720 degrees/second in roll? I noticed it's a bit twitchy myself, just like I noticed the Mirage seems to resist the roll and roll back a bit. As for the gunsight thing, I think it's just a case of making it work with cockpit turned off and not having limits for display when the cockpit is on.
  11. I believe the series supports 8 v 8. You can't take some from one side and add it to the other, though, and you're limited to 2 types per side max.
  12. The Knowledge Base is your friend. You need the Weapons Pack, located here in the downloads section. Or you can duplicate the effort and make them yourself using the weapons editor and a 3D modeling program to make the weapons' shapes and create textures for them from scratch. I recommend the weapons pack instead!
  13. CTD

Well this: DisplayWidth=1 DisplayHeight=8 DisplayDepth=104746847 was definitely wrong. The game can't run with that. No idea why it gave that or has subsequently STOPPED giving that.
  14. Is there the possibility of a "scramble"? Can unmanned planes like that be activated and taxi out? Maybe in a future patch/release? I've noticed differing numbers of planes at any given airfield...one had a single Cub, others had rows of Beagles and Fishbeds. Does this mean if there's a mission where incoming planes are to attack OUR airfield and we fail to stop them we could have fewer planes in our squadron?
  15. Now I'm confused...so you started a thread to make a point and then disagree with yourself? I haven't seen any posts about the series going in a different direction of which you speak (only to then negate), just that the engine is capable of more. Besides which, you didn't respond to any such post--you started a new one all to yourself. If you'd made this as a reply to someone who did ask such a thing, that would've made more sense. Imagine any great statesman starting off a speech "To answer your question, you are totally wrong!" when no one had said anything...
  16. Switzerland has fiercely defended its neutrality for ages.
  17. Thinking pilots will willingly crash into each other to try and "prove" their planes need replacing is not a conspiracy theory, it's just stupidity. Who would sacrifice themselves like that???
  18. Now that's good thinking!

You're not alone, I'm not particularly capable with them myself! I prefer a kb/mouse or joystick or wheel (depending on game type) to that stupid gamepad design any day of the week. I wish I could plug some of those things into my PSP on a regular basis!
  19. IDF/AF dog fights

I remember when A&E had great docs all the time on this stuff. On MST3K they even called it "the WWII channel." Now all those channels have become so much crap.
  20. Kosovo

I've no idea what that's supposed to mean. However, WWII was 60 years ago, so what?
  21. Holy crap! Castro quit!

Ironically I think the proximity to Florida has HURT them. It's been far too easy for them to get out of Cuba and come here, or for others to make regular trips and bring US $$ with them. Castro needs the money and with US $$ you can get whatever you want in the country (that's there, naturally). With family in the US regularly visiting and bringing them $$ they're happy to sit there and complain about Castro but aren't actually motivated to DO anything about it. Meanwhile, those in Miami rail against the US for NOT taking out Castro decades ago and decided that since they can't live in Cuba the way they want, they'll turn Miami into a new Cuba and the rest of us can just leave.
  22. I got in some long fights last night flying both Shahaks and Ahits. My flight did a good job, though. Several ground targets destroyed and an airplane shot down while I got 2/2 myself. I also had one of my Ahit's cannons jam on one kill, and the other jammed JUST as I dealt the killing blow to #2. I hope the jamming isn't a little too frequent...
  23. I must say the airplanes parked at airfields is the best thing so far, it makes the world seem more alive.
  24. I think it was a reference to amount of space occupied in the cranial area.
