IRL + Champ Car = Yahoo!
JediMaster replied to Fates's topic in Racing Simulations General Discussions
I was a big NASCAR and IndyCar fan in the 90s. After the split, I watched CART and gave no thought to IRL. After Montoya's brief stint in CART I found I stopped watching it, and I stopped watching NASCAR around 2002/2003 pretty much. Wow, that's 5 years now! Anyway, in the past few years I at least watched the Daytona 500, but the last 2 I didn't even do that. Haven't watched the Indy 500 really in over 10 years. I liked IndyCar because of the track variety and competition. Road courses, short ovals, super speedways, and good battles. The good old days of Zanardi and Vasser in the Target cars while Paul Tracy was always on the brink of being suspended for boneheaded moves... I hope this can come back, but the truth is all the drivers seem to go to NASCAR now. I mean, Montoya? Franchiti? Villeneuve? In NASCAR?!? -

Satellite USA-193 hit by SM-3 missile....
JediMaster replied to Jimbib's topic in Military and General Aviation
China's satellite was at over 500 miles altitude. It will take years for that debris to reenter and in the interim it's a hazard for other satellites and spacecraft. This was at 133, right at the edge of the atmosphere. The only things there are the ones on the way up or the way down, and that's far easier to avoid. Think of it this way...you have to blow up a car to prevent a bomb in the car from going off and causing worse damage (this is one of those bombs like a nuke where detonation is worse than blowing it up). Where would you rather blow it up, in the far corner of the lot or right in the middle where all the other cars are? -
There would be no more around than there are F-4s, if that. The Arrow was costlier and more complex than the F-4, so something tells me that best-case scenario Canada would've retired them with the collapse of the USSR. We're now replacing fighters that first flew in the late 70s, so a plane 20 years older (that's not a bomber or transport) would have no hope of staying current.

The Super Bug is likely stealthier than any other planes except for the B-2, F-117, F-22, and F-35. Compared to planes like the Typhoon and Rafale it may be a wash, I don't know, they tend to keep those specific numbers classified. There are F-16s with AESA too, you know!

Boeing Aims to Win 130 F-15 Fighter Orders From Asian Customers

F-35 and F-15 are totally different planes. Buying F-15s do to the job is wastefully inefficient. -
There's no doubt that was one of the largest "fighters" ever built.

Since this was only 130 miles up, I think the Hubble is safe!

I like B5 and BSG more than ST, although I'm rewatching DS9 right now and it was really good at times. Voyager never matched that and Enterprise only became what it should have been the last season, too late to save it. -

Interesting about the lower FPS in the cockpit with shadows turned OFF. I know in FE w/expansion the lower FPS in cockpit were directly related to shadows. Looks great, but killed performance on my X1950 Pro. Turned it off and worked well. -

How many more will it gain over the months as the infrequent visitors see it and grab it? All the people that regularly visit know about it, but there are many more! -

Of course, the engine effect in that game was purely made up as the real EJ2k engines weren't built yet! -

Bah! ST and SW are totally different. That's like saying "I don't care for ice cream, I always liked steak more!" -
Ah, so I'm guessing TBP is a LOT easier to fly than IFH then.

Between the lines: "...since it can't sell any F-22s to anyone else..." -
That's a lot of cash to put up, both for original acquisition and refurb and then for ops in years to come.

Of course, this is the only one we've ever had PROOF had nukes on his soil.

From what I've heard the problem has been that piloting UAVs has been a career dead-end. It doesn't impress the higher-ups when it comes to advancement, so you might as well have been peeling corn the whole time of your stationing.
