EF-2000 Progress
JediMaster replied to Bongodriver's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I don't know if I want a robot to rationalize. That leads to things like "it would be better if humans let us run things." -

Are all the current Chinese missiles in the weapons pack already? I don't even know. -

LOL, I just now saw I missed Lexx's reply last year and never answered him! DOH!! -
Yeah, this sounds like a heavier-than-air balloon on a tether. Can't go anywhere but up and down.

Lock On graphics

What version of ATI's Catalyst drivers are you using? You should be using at least a 6.x driver, although 7.x would be preferable. That card is on the low end of what LOMAC can take, but it should at least give you a picture. -
They were pretty reasonable. You were allowed to alter anything in the game you wanted EXCEPT add new playable air/sea units. They said they reserved the right to do that for addons/sequels. I had no problem with that back when they looked to be interested in the market. However, once Jamie left SCS it seems their interest in the retail side disappeared and all they do now is gov't contract work. Being 4 years since DW's release with a long period since the last patch's release (I think it was 2006?) I'm beginning to wonder if they'll ever return to it. If not, then naturally it would be silly not to add new playables if people are able to do so.

Has anyone mentioned Stealth yet?? -
...and we've only just begun...

My guess is with the current world situation they don't bother to intercept it until it gets closer. Sort of like asking how close they let Japanese or Saudi planes get...they don't consider them a real threat so they don't do anything until they get very close.

Typhoon was a joke. A sequel in name only, game play is NOTHING like EF2k. Don't bother. The WOE/WoV series does have a dynamic campaign, however it's not very fancy. LOMAC uses scripted campaigns. However, the good scripted ones are far superior to the simpler dynamic ones. Frankly, the only flight sim with a campaign even close to F4's is EECH/AH, the helo sim. There are no others even in that ball park.

Community produced game?
JediMaster replied to column5's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I think it would need a bigger MP component than TK's sims have now. As far as how detailed it is, I think LOMAC's level was fine. It has been done before, BTW, with just 2. Razorworks' awesome Apache/Havoc and Comanche/Hokum series. You had campaigns flyable from either side, MP campaigns, savable, good data fidelity without being F4-complex, etc. A jet version of that would be great, although I know TK's existing engine isn't suited for that exactly. -
Soviet incursion into Japanese airspace

The 142 and 95 are both Bears. The 142 is the maritime patrol version, the 95 was the strat bomber version. You can usually tell them apart by the fuselage length--the 142 has a plug forward of the wing so the nose is much farther forward of the wing. -

Well, he was supposed to. "Sir, this device has lights blinking out of sequence." "Well, get them to blink IN sequence and then report back to me!" As for Top Gun, that scene basically was put there for the women watching the film. Tony Scott mentioned something like the guys were gonna go for the planes and drag their women along, so he gave them something to watch. Also, TG really is simply the 2nd biggest chick flick ever made (after Titanic) made up to look like an action film with its fighter scenes. -
Argh, now I've got the song running in my brain again!

Which Aircraft do you like most
JediMaster replied to hgbn's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
F-117 was disinformation. I'll reiterate the F-108 as the best. It WOULD have been the best had they built it. -
Century Series
JediMaster replied to hgbn's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
My vote for ugliest century plane -- the F-107! My favorite is the one not built, the F-108. -
Il-2 vs Il-10
JediMaster replied to hgbn's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
If you have Il-2 46, both are in there. I prefer the Il-2 for its larger payload. -
F15 vs F14 problem!
JediMaster replied to Blasto's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Yes, but how many of those were by enemy air and how many by ground fire? I believe Hartmann was shot down by ground fire the majority of the times he was shot down... -
A 6 week vacation? Longest I've had in my entire LIFE was 10 days.

Whats Your Favorite Airplane Movie
JediMaster replied to PIGHUNTA69's topic in Military and General Aviation
Why, Airplane! of course. "I flew single-engined fighters in the war. This is a multi-engined airliner. It's an entirely different kind of flying, altogether." "It's an entirely different kind of flying." "You like movies about gladiators?" -
"What's with waving your hand? You some kinda Jedi or something? I'm a woman, mind tricks don't work on me, only money!!"

Blue Thunder, Jaws, 2010, Seaquest... another great one gone.

I don't think public humiliation can be considered "cruel and unusual punishment", so how about people start doing things like posting PS'd pics of him "enjoying" a donkey and the like?
