Yeah, it really amazes me how people can make snap judgements. Now some will take it too far, and say we shouldn't be judging the guy caught robbing your house either, which is just stupid. Give people the benefit of the doubt. No matter their appearance, they could be smart, dumb, good, bad, whatever. However, once they show who they are, don't make apologies for them like "it's all they know" or "they had a bad childhood" or whatever. Some of the best people in the world were raised and lived their entire lives in misery. Some of the worst people were born and raised in lives of privilege.

Is it gov't money? Yes? Then it will not be.

Cable TV is not regulated. Broadcast TV is. So Cartoon Network, which is cable-only, can do whatever they want. Now in practice they try and keep it "safe" to avoid the wrath of special interest groups and such, but there's no actual law barring them from anything.

So, the leaders at the G7 conference were swimming in there?

Compared to military spending it really wasn't much at all.

Indian AF C-130J-30 Crashes, No Survivors

CFIT is still a big problem worldwide. -
I remember when the Miami was commissioned, as I was still living there at the time. If ever something could be called "criminal", this is literally it. However, the costs are too much to justify, so I reluctantly agree with it.

Heh, 4 miles is almost how far away my daughters' preschool is! My commute to work is 16 miles each way. We have closer pharmacies, but we have more than usual seeing as 25% of our population is over 65 (and name me one person over 65 who's not taking SOMETHING regularly). Just keep calm and let the meds break up the clot, you don't want to make it move before that, it's safer where it is than where it might go!

ED DCS: World March Newsletter
JediMaster replied to SilverDragon's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
Which means they either don't have as much confidence in their release this year, or they felt the other 3 were more likely/more popular. I knew the 21 was imminent, but not the 86F. That and the 2000C I am interested in, but by no means are they certain buys for me. Having preordered/funded the 21bis in 2012, almost exactly 2 years ago, I will wait for these to actually come out and others to fly them and give an at least "adequate" review beforehand. The unasked/unanswered question is "will there be a 1.2.9 or will 1.3.0 be the next major release?" I don't know what it might have, although my guess is the 21bis since it missed 1.2.8. -
Syrian MiG-29 & MiG-23s in action
JediMaster replied to MigBuster's topic in Military and General Aviation
It's also irrelevant. They could shout "the sky is blue!" or "air is great to breathe!" or any other meaningless platitude. Same with the "God willing" inserted into every other sentence as they talk about destruction of their enemies or whatever. If God was willing, you wouldn't have enemies, would you? Instead, you have many and your lives are miserable and often short...so I think believing God is on your side is pretty naive! -

Oh. It honestly never occurred to me that you wouldn't keep what you catch. -
Only if you use one of the "deodorizing" ones...

Syrian MIG-23 shot down by Turkish F-16s.
JediMaster replied to BearGryllis's topic in Military and General Aviation
That was a well-timed shot then to make the flares look like a blown engine. -
Of course, they were firing their guns at the ground, not at the (nonexistent) Iraqi air force.

That really sucks. Hopefully his final days will be less turbulent than the past few months.

I don't remember that incident. When did the Russians lose a display Flanker at an airshow? -
Guess the runway there isn't capable of taking a vertical landing!
-
The 106 has a much thinner, shallower fuselage (and only a single engine) so naturally the weight is lower.

Iran`s new Aircraftcarrier
JediMaster replied to 76.IAP-Blackbird's topic in Military and General Aviation
It's likely a representative size/shape target for training because the expense to make it just to sink it for propaganda wouldn't really return a good value. Even a fake shell that has to be towed around is a non-trivial expense at that size. -
Remind them to stick a fork in you when are done!

There's also the reliability/maintainability issue. While on paper an Su-27/27R combo might have beat an F-15C/AIM-7 combo, the odds were higher that the 27 would have a radar and/or missile malfunction, that the 15's ECM would work well while the 27's would not, and that the 15C would have seen the 27 first (due to AWACS and standoff jammers). So the problem is while in some hypothetical jousting scenario the 27 could always win, in reality the deck was stacked against it in multiple areas. I would much rather be in the "inferior" F-15 fighting a 27 in any realistic mid-80s scenario that might have occurred.
