Rafale M will operate in USS Eisenhower
JediMaster replied to Silverbolt's topic in Military and General Aviation
The Sikorsky S-92 competed for the Pres Helo contract, it just came out 2nd. That doesn't mean it's crap. OTOH, the fact that the Kiowa is being replaced by another Bell Jet Ranger variant DOES indicate stagnation. -
Old girl is starting to show her age (again)

"With the blast shield down I can't even see! How am I supposed to fight?" -
No, I have ceased to be amazed by the comments. The videos, however, are another story.

I wasn't sure which E Euro countries were in NATO yet vs only applied. I don't pay as close attention as I used to. I got married in 1998.

I think they were F/A-18s. At least, they kept referring to them in the film. You couldn't really tell by looking they went by so fast. Yeah, this film is literally Godzilla (story) meets Blair Witch (story telling style). Except the budget is far lower than the 98 Godzilla's was (only $25 million) and it doesn't have a Hollywood ending. In fact, if you pay attention the end of the film is given away in the first 30 seconds when the text is on the screen! All I could think was "Gee, a lot more people would've lived if they'd not bothered with trying to rescue his girl."

Ah yes, F-15 SE 1. Your carrier (?) was a blue triangle. Enemy targets were brown triangles. The water was blue, the land was tan. Enemy planes were a few triangles stuck together. When you shot them, these weird triangle-shaped streaks came out of them... Gunship wasn't much better. F-19 was the ground-breaking one for graphics. You could tell what was what by SIGHT. An F-5, F-4, MiG-21, all could be id'd on SIGHT. It was amazing!

At 27 years old, my Cockatiel, Igor, finally died
JediMaster replied to streakeagle's topic in The Pub
I know I would be very upset if I lost my bird. He's only 5 or so (I forget) but his little voice as he says "peekaboo" when you come into the room is something I would really miss. -
They've done tests with lighting already. So-called "active" visual stealth in a different form.
-
Unfortunately for him, he made some political statements that were unseemly at the time, some of which were interpreted as pro-Soviet/Communist. This lends fuel to the conspiracy theories about his death.

Yeah, boards give the options to change these things based on post counts. I'm one of only two people at SimHQ to break 20,000 posts, so they made a separate category for us. My posting here is far more restrained, plus I've got over 3 more years over there.

We were stopping on the way to visit all these great places my dad found...like dinosaur footprints and a cave and an old house...

Bad to the ...........

Yeah, and it's a shame. You had some great pics. -
I liked how they did it. Instead of TRYING to convince you it was really a resistance hospital only to reveal later *gasp* it wasn't!!! they instead let you assume it was a Cylon trick, then give you bits and pieces to make you start doubting it...maybe Simon really is an overworked doctor...before the final reveal hits you in the face with "No, it's your worst nightmare!!"
-
D'anna was definitely the hottest Cylon IMO. Six is sultry, but she doesn't have that same spark.

Perhaps it would be best to see all 6 films BEFORE getting into lengthy explanations??

Of course, what has LA done since then? We haven't had a Jedi Knight game in over 4 years. We haven't had an X-wing type game in NINE years. We had SW Battlefront 1 and 2 (also released a year apart, like KOTORs) but that was now 2.5 yrs ago since the last one. Other than that joke MMO Galaxies, Empire at War is the only recent SW game other than the Lego trilogies. EAW is a fine game and all, but strat games are a bit impersonal and I'd like something more up close and personal. That's why I will likey get a 360 just to play Force Unleashed!
-
It's these two. Notice retract value is larger than deploy? That's backwards. Swap those 2 numbers.
-
Well, the difference is the F-35 is still in development, the Gripen is in service, plus there are already many other countries involved with the F-35. That said, I don't think the Gripen would be a bad choice at all. They could certainly get hold of them faster. Wouldn't they be the first Gripens in NATO if they did?

I'd rather have Scaramanga's golden gun. A bunch of innocuous parts like a pen and a lighter that you reassemble into a gun!

On the other hand, MS got a powerful endorsement for Powerpoint--"Win Oscars and Nobel Prizes with MS Office Powerpoint!!" Anyway, I think we can lay a lot of blame at Rumsfeld's feet. He was given carte blanche to remake the military on his...whim...and he didn't listen to anyone who disagreed with him one bit. -
Australia goes with Fullbacks?
JediMaster replied to Silverbolt's topic in Military and General Aviation
Yes. Israel has done a substantial amount of work in this area, with MiG-21 upgrades and India's Su-30s being the most notable. -
Longhorn was cancelled and work restarted because it became too large and unwieldy for the programmers to work on!

I have a problem...
JediMaster replied to yalcin_42's topic in IL-2 Series / Pacific Fighters / Cliffs of Dover: General Discussion
Did you install out of order? The proper order is FB, then AEP, than PF, then the patches to get you to 4.04m <-don't forget to get the patches with the "m" for merged. I don't recall how many you need, you have to start around 3.00m I think and then they're incremental. That's all I can think of. -
I saw quite a few back in the day...but the last one by me closed mid-80s.
