What The?

Isn't biological warfare against the Geneva Convention? -
Some news about Chinese birds.
JediMaster replied to Erwin_Hans's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
The J-10 is a Lavi in the same way that the F/A-18E is an F/A-18C. It is based on Lavi principles, but is larger and much different under the skin. -
Russian E-8
JediMaster replied to Erwin_Hans's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
The J-10, like other deltas, also has no tailplane like this and other MiG-21s have. The Mig-21 is however unique in that like the A-4 it is one of the few tailed deltas to see widespread service. -

That B-17 edit looked like something from Weekly World News! That or Burt Rutan's redesign. -
Possible to Build Airwolf?
JediMaster replied to shawnfergie's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
I bought the DVD for that as soon as it came out. I watched it so many times on cable and VHS back in the 80s! "The F-16 carries heat-seeking missiles. We can surgically remove him from the air like a tumor." "We're not talking about a tumor here!!" -
I bought an external HD for important file backup along with DVD Rs. Granted if my C: drive goes I'm SOL, but I'd have to redo my entire system to do RAID 1. I have 2 DVD drives (one reader, one writer thanks to game CPs hating my writer) and 2 HDs split in half for 4 logical drives. I'm still running IDE, BTW, so I'd have to put ALL my 4 logical drives onto a single (much larger of course) physical drive. I think my 2 are a 160 and a 300? So I'd need a pair of 500s minimum. Anyway, I've decided I'm going to build a new PC for Vista instead of upgrade the XP one so I'll have it around for backwards compatability. I don't want to mess with dual-booting! I'll probably start off with RAID on that one.

Merging Problem
JediMaster replied to Husky42's topic in IL-2 Series / Pacific Fighters / Cliffs of Dover: General Discussion
No, 46 will not install over an existing install, it is self-contained standalone install only. PF was designed to merge with FB/AEP specifically, this was not. You'll have to manually move all the skins and missions you want over. You might be able to copy the .ini files over but that's risky as some lines might have changed between 4.04 and 4.06. -
Most damaged flyable aircraft
JediMaster replied to RedBladeHR's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
Seeing as it has no ailerons to counteract the asymmetric lift the wings are generating, I'm not sure that qualifies as "flyable." Perhaps "not yet crashed" is more accurate? -
I turn it on to break a lock. When I see the lock is gone, I turn it off. I "blip" it like that until a point when an incoming missile does NOT lose lock when I turn it on due to burn-thru. That's when you start the chaff!

Lockheed to supply 18 F-16s to Pakistan
JediMaster replied to ghostrider883's topic in Military and General Aviation
Don't assume "democracy = friendly". Just look at the whole Palestinian/Hamas mess. However, it is true that some cultures are anti-democracy because it goes against their belief in theocratic rule. They further believe any attempt to create a secular gov't must fail and is in itself an act against God. This makes things rather difficult. -
Broken Arrow- New Book on Nuclear Weapons Accidents
JediMaster replied to Mike463's topic in Military and General Aviation
"Please don't shoot at the thermonuclear weapons." 31 is interesting, I guess it was a USN thing although it could have been air-carried. I think that means they never found it. -
Well I never saw any cows. Plus, I never saw the insides, that wasn't my area.

I think there are easy instructions on how to do it (if not a file to DL that does it for you) at lockonfiles.com that ThomasDW did.

India, Russia sign pact to build combat aircraft
JediMaster replied to ghostrider883's topic in Military and General Aviation
Overall, yes for the most part. This one part, however, is about the real deal. -
*waves hand* Move along.

Of course, they can then simply deny their boats made the call.

what if planes
JediMaster replied to 76.IAP-Blackbird's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
In fact, I've SEEN that picture before. It was definitely an F-22 then, this was just PS'd. -
Also in the real world the jammer isn't as ineffective as it is in the sim. Yes there are circumstances where they are defeated, but by and large few modern fighters have been shot down by SAMs.

All the mods like RV and OF and such have included manuals in PDF form I believe. Just browse thru the directories. The original manual is relevant to the generic stuff, but specific switchology and procedures may be incorrect/incomplete with the mods.

Yeah, I heard about that. Thanks for the link.

Broken Arrow- New Book on Nuclear Weapons Accidents

I seem to recall a B-52 dropping one off GA as well as the one off Spain. -
Japanese F-2B Fighter crashes on takeoff
JediMaster replied to lazboy's topic in Military and General Aviation
Yes, I don't recall if it was a low pass that got out of control or if it was a genuine landing attempt and he raised the gear because he (correctly) believed the gear down would result in more damage than a gears-up landing would. -
Australian Superbug deal may be cancelled?
JediMaster replied to BUFF's topic in Military and General Aviation
LOL, yeah. Things like facts and figures are usually not high on the list of accuracy for any media agency. -
Video: Jumbo Jet gets hit by Lightning!
JediMaster replied to Nesher's topic in Military and General Aviation
LOL, doesn't speak well to hardening for EMP, does it? -
Right, and that's why in LOMAC (where I could alter things) I changed it so I just see a label at long range, then I see its ID when it gets much closer. That way I see something is out there first and I see WHAT it is much later, as it should be.
