  1. UFO's: Have you seen one?

I can't recall seeing a thing I've not figured out. Of course, I don't spend a lot of time outdoors, so...
  2. Whew...I finally have the energy to post here...I spent hours exerting the Force to calm this down, it wasn't easy. What, no appreciation for my efforts? Maybe I should take my all-powerful mystical field that explains everything and go home!!! Nah, group hug!
  3. I remember when they filmed True Lies in Miami. That stupid shoot screwed up traffic for days! The funny part is how many movies have used the old 7 Mile bridge for scenes when you can see the (obviously newer and better looking) new 7 Mile bridge right next to it.
  4. Poll: Should I buy this stick?

MS has had it in for the gameport since XP's release. They support USB for inputs only at this point. My old SB Audigy had a functional gameport under XP, but when I replaced it my mobo's port was worthless (mega spike city). Like 3.5" floppies, ISA, and VESA LB video, gameports are now obsolete.
  5. Ace Combat anyone?

I plan on getting a 360 after the GPU is scaled down (hoping to avoid any RRODs) and AC6 is one I plan on getting at that point. I've thought about getting AC-X for my PSP, too.
  6. Strike commander help

It's been over 10 yrs since I flew it, so I'm afraid I won't be much help!
  7. the good guys strike back

Perhaps it's the American philosophy that "good enough isn't good enough!!" that makes us so eager to fight for what we believe, while in many countries it seems the people are afraid of rocking the boat and prefer to lay low until things get ridiculously bad.
  8. The Super Hornet is supposed to have a significantly smaller RCS than the legacy Hornet, despite its larger size. It is not a "stealth" plane, no, however compared to other 4th gen fighters (ie anything before the Gripen/Rafale/Typhoon/F-22/F-35 era) like the original Hornet, Eagle, Viper, Flanker, etc it is much harder to see. Also, do remember stealth against other fighters is a minor consideration nowadays...it's stealth vs SAMs that is of more concern. Vietnam was the last time any significant number of planes was lost due to enemy air action, but even then the ground fire was more deadly.
  9. Aussie Vigilantes?

Older carriers? Are you implying they no longer have to? I thought every carrier went through one of those every few years, regardless of their age. Kind of like an oil change on your car.
  10. Rafale M will operate in USS Eisenhower

I think it's a reference to a more formal integration, like pre-1962. Of course they've worked alongside NATO in the intervening years, but they never took orders from NATO or conversely had someone inside giving orders to non-French.
  11. New Dogfights episode this week

Now that there's a writers' strike, there's a good chance of them airing all the ones they had made.
  12. Where does it all come from?

All the lonely people...where do they all come from? All the lonely people...where do they all belong?
  13. Ski or Board?

I've lived in FL my entire life. Snow is for putting in a cone, not for the ground!!!
  14. A MASSIVE complaint about something...

I can't take much milk chocolate anymore. Only if it's got something else in it, and by that I mean a LOT of something else. I prefer dark chocolate of all kinds. They stopped making them, but for a short time they made DARK chocolate Reese's cups!! Mmmmm!!!! As for Hawaii, why would I want to go there? FL is a lot cheaper and has the same weather sans volcanos.
  15. I would think the visual effects have little bearing on what the destructive effects are. You could make a nuke blast effect for a gun and it still wouldn't be stronger, although it would make strafing difficult.
  16. Rown Atkinson played Blackadder on the series of the same name.
  17. Mission 9: Landing

To the left of the HUD there is a display with a O with a ^ above and a v below. It lights up in response to your AOA. That's the AOA bracket.
  18. I don't know if he'd want his plane associated with Rowan Atkinson!
  19. Most such methods are classified. However, the rough numbers have been released for certain planes. I know the B-52 has one of the largest RCS recorded, 100 sq m or so. The B-1B's is roughly the same size as the F-16 I think, about an order of magnitude less (10 sq m?). Then you have "stealthy" (not stealth) planes like the Typhoon, F/A-18E/F, Rafale, etc that are another order of magnitude less than that (1 sq m?). Then you have the F-117 an order below those, than the F-22 and B-2 an order below THAT (the old "golf ball size"). The F-35 will likely be in the F-117 range.
  20. Firebirds, LOL. I forget about that movie and then periodically someone pours lemon juice on my paper cut and reminds me of it!
  21. Operation Eagle Claw

Well, almost. Greer was in it, too. Also, another guy that was in (the book) HfRO is in it I believe.
  22. HDD & Software Backup

The advantage in partitioning is if there's a software problem (ie not physical) with the data storage on one partition, you only lose that partition. However, you don't want to put too many on there. I generally split a drive in half. Never used those programs, though.
  23. For the Flanker fans

I would, but they're all dead. Communication at this point is very difficult.
  24. They may still work. Sometimes things would break, but sometimes they will translate fine. Otherwise, lockonfiles.com is a major center for all things LOMAC.
