I remember doing it in F-15 Strike Eagle 3 back in 1994 or so along with Apache in 1995. Far too few have had it. You can do it in Il-2, but then you're just a gunner.

Shouldn't that be the Miami Dolphins?

Yeah, if a particular weapon is too good that might be because it really is that good! Of course, in real life there are other considerations than "best" such as price, maintainability, reliability, ammo availability, etc that aren't usually reflected in FPS games unless it's Stalker. See, if you're making an SF shooter then you can rock-paper-scissors the stuff all you want. If you're using REAL weapons, though, they better behave like real ones!

Mixed Feelings on DCS
JediMaster replied to JediMaster's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
Yeah, the whole perception of Western customers by them has caused unnecessary problems. I don't know how much of it is their experiences have soured them or it's their preconceptions that soured their current experiences, but it really doesn't matter. The tales of the western consultants also explains some things. -
F-14 Tomcat vs the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet Thread
JediMaster replied to Dave's topic in Military and General Aviation
The planes use the same weapons--aim-9x, advanced 120s, gun. The F-35s will all have AESA radars like the F-22s. Only a handful of F-15C's and the latest Super Hornets have it, but the ones on the F-22 and F-35 are tightly integrated with the rest of their avionics. This gives them abilities that are still being defined and are going to be highly classified, including jamming with the radar, using the radar to hack enemy computers, and so on. Being stealthy is only one of the improvements. The F-35 should also easily outfly the F-16 and Hornets as it has a far greater T/W ratio. -
The Ace Combat series has been around for a long time (as the 6 will testify). It was previously PS-only, on the PS1 and 2 and recently PSP. Now the 360 has it. However, it's certainly not a sim.

Yeah, Alt N seems to have the ability to alter the space-time continuum. -
Guess What Happens in 2 weeks?
JediMaster replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
*waves hand* There is nothing happening in two weeks. This isn't the thread you're looking for. You can go about your business. Move along. -
Well, BF3 is the same team that did BF2 and BF42. BF2142 is the team that did BF:V. That says something.

LOL, that's like those shots of galaxies where you zoom in and every point of light turns out to be ANOTHER galaxy. Turn those into Spits and Bf109s and it looks like a Battle of Britain shot! Never seen that many at once in any space game before, aside from maybe Homeworld.

Yup. Never trust that "done" = "good."

F-14 Tomcat vs the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet Thread
JediMaster replied to Dave's topic in Military and General Aviation
The F-35C should even the score for the USN. It still will likely have insufficient range, but at least it will fly and fight better. -
If the USN had gone the NATF route they wouldn't have been able to buy enough for all the air wings. The USAF won't be buying that many, either. Just not enough money.

Did I mention I was getting this?

Those aren't the problem, it's the jars you stick in the fridge like of jelly or pickles or whatever. You take it out, and when you go to open it you discover it's slicker than teflon with moisture. ARGH.

I don't think there's any doubt they'll try and make a trilogy out of it. The only way they won't is if #2 totally bombs, which I doubt.

I can see my house from there in the upper left of the screen!

Fond memories of the Dominion War eps of DS9...

I wish they would dump the stupid unlocks.

I take it you're asking if it would be better to get an upgrade for FS9 or get FSX? I think many people will say FSX is the way to go.
-
Right now, stealth almost = invisible. However, its true intention is simply to reduce detectability. Then, once detected, make it hard to track. Then, if it can be tracked, make it hard to shoot down. That's what the uber agility is for.

While the 53's aren't going anywhere, and indeed a new/upgraded model the 53K is in the works, the 46 is out of production for quite some time now and will be retired.

I tried the demo, but I didn't think it was worth $50. I'm waiting for a sale to pick it up. The AI for the bots is pretty good, though. Reminds me of UT's bots. Speaking of, I tried the UT3 demo this weekend and it's quite good too.

I once reworded Bohemian Rhapsody into a WWII fighter song. I don't remember too much offhand, although I think I have it in a file somewhere, but the part I remember clearly is "Adolf Galland has a Focke-Wulf set aside for me....for me....for ME....."
