Can the A-7's get some love!
JediMaster replied to Redddevil911's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
A twin-engined A-7? I don't remember that, but I do remember the A-7F w/afterburner. I can't imagine how a twinned A-7 would work. The rear fuselage would be a mess! Oh, and Nicky, did your dad ever have the nickname SLUF? -
Weapons...is it all about looks?
JediMaster replied to FastCargo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yeah, because you can spoof the IR missiles, but not laser-guided. -
A question
JediMaster replied to Fleet Command CC's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yes, but after all this series of sims was basically done by one man, not a team. -
JAS 39C Gripen Progress
JediMaster replied to Gux's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
If you're looking at doing ground attack, right now the JAS 39C is certainly better than the EF. If you're doing an intercept, the EF is probably a better choice. If it's a dogfight, that's hard to know, but I'd give the edge to the Gripen because of its smaller size. Again, no one plane can do it all the best. -
Updated MiG-17F flight model, and more....
JediMaster replied to Fubar512's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I'd say do both. Some people want that extra realism, some don't. -
A love story...
JediMaster replied to FastCargo's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Well, like it says in that song by Loverboy, "Da da da da HARM and ALCM DNA just won't splice." -
What do you want in BOB
JediMaster replied to Hellzone's topic in IL-2 Series / Pacific Fighters / Cliffs of Dover: General Discussion
GOOD AI on both the friendly and enemy sides!! Il-2 is sorely missing that. Good modeling of altitudes over 10k ft. -
Ah, one of the mods you DL'd I take it? I've heard there are tons of those mods out there for ships from movies and TV. What's the best place to find them, or is it more like a whole bunch of sites? One of the reasons I like rF and GTR2 is that all their mods are in one location (rfcent and nogrip) making it easy to look for them.

GTR2 tracks converted to RACE 07
JediMaster replied to Revvin's topic in Racing Simulations General Discussions
It would be nice if SB did it themselves and added them to RACE over Steam for free, releasing one a month or something. -
Yeah, sometimes you have next to nothing when it comes to information. Good job getting as far as you did with what you had.

I put on my pants one leg at a time, just like the rest of you. The only difference is when my pants are on I make gold records.

I don't know, I've played many FPS games with better stories than Halo. Never played 2 or 3, but going by 1, yes. Things like graphics and such are a function of when they're released and the budget they have. The bigger the better. As for AI, that's also highly variable. Some games are good, some are bad. Basically, I thought Halo was average. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't AWESOME or anything, it just was.

Pacific Terrains?
JediMaster replied to Hawk MMS's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You mean Myanmar terrain. -

JediMaster replied to Fleet Command CC's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
These ships work in the Thirdwire series of flight sims: Strike Fighters, Wings over Vietnam, Wings Over Europe. You can get them all from Thirdwire's web store. As for controlling them, sorry, as of now only planes are controllable. -
JAS 39C Gripen Progress
JediMaster replied to Gux's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
The Gripen is like a next-generation F-16. The EF is a next-generation F-15. Different planes for different jobs, one isn't really "better" than the other. -
Wow...not sure if I want to go through this or not, or just wait for the final release.

I've been watching DS9 season 2 lately, so this fits right in.

So basically, unless you're playing online with other 1255 users, you may not want to upgrade to 1255. That "increased loading time" has been reported to be QUITE severe in many cases, depending on how many cars you have.

With MiG 25’s gone, Sukhois to become eye in the sky
JediMaster replied to ghostrider883's topic in Military and General Aviation
There's going to be more Flankers in SE Asia than there are in Russia soon! -
And that I believe was the point. I once had the boss' son at this place I used to work ask me seriously if they would ever make a lightsaber. When I said it was impossible, he wanted to know why. When I explained in the simplest terms I could think of, he then mused "I think it would be cool to have a lightsaber. I hope they make one."

Beriev...if it says "Beriev", you know it's going to be unappealing. -
Would fictional aircraft like the the F/A-37 Talon really fly & perform as well as it did in the movie "Stealth" if it were really built?
JediMaster replied to SkyStrike's topic in The Pub
Hot topic = number of replies, possibly also due to the rate of replies, not sure. Has absolutely no bearing one way or another on the relative worth or lack thereof of said thread. As for altitude, since Mach 1 @ sea level is much faster than Mach 1 @ 50k ft, the idea of Mach 3 @ sea level is just absurd. 2300mph @ sea level will melt you down. Now, granted you could make something like the space shuttle that's capable of that, but it's not a fighter, is it? -
What's the best way to kill a mig?
JediMaster replied to Mannie's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hitting a hovering helo with an LGB is no different from hitting any other target...it's when the target moves that trouble arises. Firing at a moving target will quickly cause the bomb to run out of energy and it could fall short, although if the helo is low and slow enough the blast could still take it out. So, chances are dependent pretty much on helo speed. -

I haven't used the ALARM since the old Tornado game! Did EF2K have it? I think so but I can't remember for sure... -
I don't know what day it is, but after playing the demo this weekend I'll be getting it off of Steam. The AI is just excellent. They make mistakes, they're good at avoiding accidents, and they don't run you off the road (I'm looking at you, robot AI rfactor!!) The graphics are of course great and the physics modeling seems spot-on. I could drive the cars on the edge without worrying about them falling off it without warning every single lap. I won't be dumping rFactor or my GT-series sims from Simbin, but this is a great addition for only $20.
